He has been asked to play the Phantom in later years but have never had the time(or maybe he doesn't want to). (as for the "under less pressure" comment - that was because Michael at the time suffered from greatly from panic attacks which resulted in him leaving Les Mis and shutting himself away in his flat for a time)
