    I picked up the 55" at Walmart the other week for $670.00. This is my first 4K TV. The upscaling of 1080P content is terrific, which is good because I have a lot of HD content. Low bitrate SD is not too good, but that's to be expected. I am experimenting ripping some DVD's and upscaling them in HandBrake to FHD+ to watch on this TV. Those are turning out very well using the LapSharp: Very Strong setting.

    This tv is amazing. SDR/HDR upscales beautifully. Watching sports like NFL, Premier League and UFC is so good. The pic quality and brightness with the deep blacks lives up to hype. Dolby Atmos is so loud, u don’t even need a soundbar. Dolby Vision and gaming is such a treat. Hisense nailed it with this tv. I bought a 55 inch for 750 with all these features. I would easily pick the Hisense over the C1 that I have also.

      C’est drôle que vous parliez du LG C1 parce que je viens de vendre mon 55 LG C1 parce que je veux un téléviseur plus lumineux, je trouve le C1 trop sombre et manque de couleurs riches et je me demande si le U8K est meilleur parce que j’ai entendu dire qu’il a un flou de mouvement dans les jeux rapides comme Call of Duty???

    • @1349LL
      @1349LL 9 месяцев назад

      @jblaze600 big statement to say you’d take the Hisense over the C1. I order the 85” this week to replace a 65” CX with burn in. Love the picture on the oled, but burn in is still very much an issue. Having second thoughts about the Hisense and your comment makes me feel better. Really really want 85” and don’t trust oled’s after only owning my cx for 2.5 years.

    I have the 75” U8K and compared to the 65” version, it is the significantly better TV due to the ADS Pro panel. I returned the 65” with no hesitation. The black bars on the 75” are pitch black and it is hard to make out any blooming around bright objects. The HDR demos look stunning. The best is the viewing angle! It is OLED like, even at steep angles there is little to no loss of brightness, color shift or black raise.
    Compared with my LG C2 OLED, the OLED does(!) have the deeper blacks. However, the U8K is perceived twice as bright (rather more..) than the LG. HDR and Dolby Vision content have a tremendous pop on the U8K, far superior than the dim OLED.
    I don’t need the ~10% better blacks from an OLED when I can have all the other significant benefits of such a bright glossy picture!!
    Feedback wife (non tech-y): “Is this 8K? It looks so sharp and vivid!”
    All I do now is to wait until the 85” becomes available. I’ll return the 75” in favor of the 85”.

I’ll be about 8-9 feet away from viewing except when I get a PS5 then I’ll be like 4 feet away to play it. I have a certain budget that’s why I can’t get the 65” U8K. I think I’m making a good decision. Keep up the good work Brian!

    One nitpick about this tv and its not really even the tv's fault is that if you intend to use it as a pc monitor and have an nvidia gpu then using the 120hz vrr functions can be somewhat problematic mostly for older games and even some newer ones. This is due to the tv not being gsync compatible so you have to use the hdmi vrr function over a 48gbs certified cable to enable a jury rigged compatible mode. The upside is the tv uses a pentonic 700 dolbyvision hdr 120hz chipset so its far more stable in this mode for nvidia gpu than the previous u8h model. Technically they could make the tv gsync compatible but thats an increased licensing cost and I'm sure the main target buyer are using it as a streaming tv or for console use where the 120hz vrr functions work as intended.

  • @69Dartman
    @69Dartman Год назад +7

    Damn, missed the live but that thing is so much nicer than the 55H8C with 12 whole dimming zones I had as my first cheap 4k HDR TV back about 2016. I could never get the color balance right, red was always wonky, and HDR didn't get very bright, then the panel died 3 years in.
    Fair to say it's been a long strange trip to the TV I have today but I always follow Hisense and TCL for their picture quality vs value. Wish my Hisense had looked like this, it didn't even support Dolby Vision back then but I liked it because of the extremely low price for what I got at the time and black levels and blooming were surprisingly good.

    Hey Brian, wondering your thoughts on the letterbox bars. Are they black enough? I have the 75" ADS version and I wish the bars were a little inkier black than what they are. Vincent Teoh reviewed the European version (65" VA panel) and he said the letterbox bars and the picture are slightly grayed/washed out due to the less aggressive dimming of the zones compared to the Samsung QN95C. The positive of that is that you get better shadow detail on the U8K. Regardless it's overall a great set!

    I'm having HDR issues with PS5 and the 75" U8K. So incredibly dim compared to my X900H. HDR shouldn't be dimmer than SDR. Can't figure it out. This is not an issue on Xbox Series X, however. I've found other people reporting the same issue. Dim HDR on PS5 with the U8K. You've had no issues with this, Brian?

    Hi Brian. Excellent review mate. One small question for you and rest of this community (and big answer for me), is there any DSE? I have Sony 65A80J already and its a really great TV. But after 2 years I still worry about burn in :D . I find my self shutting down my TV when going to bathroom and all that crazy ass stuff wee all do to prevent burn in. I want second TV just for watching football (real football) and playing Fifa (EAFC) on PS5. Screen uniformity is one of most important segment of picture quality for me. DSE is a deal breaker, and I know that all off backlit TV has to have some. If you ask why not to go with another OLED, well ..... U8K is half the price as OLED, does not have burn in risk, and buying an OLED was a horrible experience for me. I returned 3 sets before I found one without pink and blue panel tints. For those reasons I decided to go with mini led for gaming.

    Hello Brian, I watched your reviews of the Sony X90L and Hisense U8K. I am trying to figure out which one I should buy in 75”.
    One thing on your videos when you are going through the settings, you do them too quickly and it is difficult for me to see the differences between them.
    Both TVs look great. The U8K has a better sound than the X90L. Image-wise, both are great.

I never had a TV with HGiG till I was forced to grab a temporary replacement for our living room TV and now that I've gotten used to it I am hesitant to go back to just DTM only, but I have seen the U8K allows for a lot of tweaking in game mode compared to competitors.

If I play a blu ray in a Samsung player it works fine. Have you heard of Hisense not accepting certain audio signals? I was reading bc Sony players don’t convert DTS to DD that’s the issue.
