      If more safe fishing is the target. Buy a Grady. You will learn that you can fish on days in a Grady when in other boats you learn to stay home. It is not as fast, You cant get a different color except for the hull. But it will want to go play when others dont. and it will always bring you home.

    I have the Boston Whaler outrage it's a 25 foot boat with twins and actually fished overnighters 80 miles off in the canyon. The hull is absolutely amazing! And I have been out in things that I've had no business being in. I've also had the Grady but I'll take the whaler any day over the Grady-White the whaler is a foam-filled Unsinkable boat on top of everything else

      The whaler outrage is awesome. That's what I would like to get eventually. I have the robalo 242 right now. I have grown up offshore, I live right on the water and Freeport Texas, and I have ran a lot of guided trips out of here. I have lived here 30 years, since I was 17, fishing at almost every weekend and I know every bump on the ground out there. My favorite trip is 69 miles out to stetson Rock. The tequila rigs are 80 MI but they are loaded with tuna and wahoo as well as some huge grouper. Anyway I get talking fishing and I cannot shut up. I just saw that you have my dream boat.

      @@rogrambo I actually saw my R260 and got the Outrage. The r260 was a nice boat I can't complain it was easier to clean than the whaler. So many fishboxes now. But it was a 2003 and I had a lot of issues with yamaha's 225 four strokes I think it was the first year they made them that size. The Robo
      alo was great but a few times I went over a big wave going very fast and it almost threw me over kind of unpredicted.

    These are all capable boats - and these are opinions. For my opinion, even though more cabbage is needed, you won't go wrong with a Whaler Dauntless or Outrage in this class. Dual Outboard is a requirement in my opinion also - even if you never have an outboard go down, having the potential for backup is smart Captaining. There are many excellent boats out there, but for my money, Whalers exceed expectations in fit & finish, handling, spray and "rough" chop.

    I gotta give you props, I thought for sure this would be the typical fan boy pretty boat stuff (contender, yellowfin etc). See Vees are nice but I think that may be the most interchangeable one of the three

  • @stans1058
    @stans1058 3 года назад +30

    Two engines are safer. Unless there are two separate fuel tanks and electrical systems your safety margin is greatly reduced. You are left with a engine failure that is not caused by the fuel or an electrical problem. The engines have to be totally isolated from each other. Also, never fuel up both tanks from the same source. Otherwise you will have both tanks with bad gas.

      Can’t believe I see this comment, way to go! Been around boating for 50 years. Back in the 80’s at Sailfish Marina, North Palm Beach FL, if their ever was an old sea dog crabby ass man it was their fuel doc. guy. The tanker guys hated him as much as they respected him. Soon as the tanker pulled in he was out there testing the #2 diesel for water & contaminates. Same for gasoline. Miss those old school fully mechanical turbo diesels. Those Cats & 2 stroke Detroits were every gear heads symphony come to life! Great video!

    • @stujos82
      @stujos82 4 месяца назад

      Interesting comment and a smart one though sometimes filling gas from two different sources is impractical. I have twin outboards with a single fuel tank and I filled the fuel tank 150 gal, then didn’t run the boat much for an extended period of time, developed some fuel varnish and requiring some serious expenses related to fuel filters and injectors and the emptying and replacing of a lot of fuel. Now I try to use my boat more often and don’t fill up with more fuel than half a tank unless I really plan a long trip.

  • @whalerlife53
    @whalerlife53 2 года назад

    Foam filled does not automatically translate to unsinkable like most people think. Unsinkable, means some portion of the boat must remain above the water. In many cases all that is, is the tip of the Bow of the boat. There is only one manufacture that has an unsinkable guarantee in writing. Whaler. They are also the only manufacturer that list the swamped capacity of each model in writing too.

  • @jlcinternet

    Cape Horn, Grady and Regulator, Boston Whaler, Yellowfin, World Cat, Edgewater, Everglades, Blackfin, Cobia and Scout are also good choices under 30’. Scout has tiny fish boxes in the back though built like tanks. Cape Horn has the thickest hull I’ve ever seen and their consumers swear by them just like Grady’s. Cape Horn’s have huge fish boxes as well. If going used check out the 33’ Hydra Sports Vector. Built like a tank with Kevlar and their tournament style layout is the best I’ve ever seen IMO. You won’t care about fuel burn when the waves get rough 100 miles offshore. Go heavy and get home. There’s no substitute for quality out on the water.

    Great Vid; though missing Twin V hull Cats - more stable more beam faster and reliable than monohulls - see WorldCat 290 CC for example.

    How does the Sportsman 30' CC compare to these? 10'4" beam; heavy; Sharp entry. Would love to hear peoples thoughts. Thanks!

    The question shows how little I know but does the price you mention include the twin engines you listed?

    Regulator 28' and up, they are hands down the best center console for offshore fishing

    I want to give a thumbs up but there's no Boston Whalers on this list. I've never seen a boat that handles rough waters better and that's important, especially offshore.

    Agree with the Grady. If only they marketed as well as they built the boats, they shouldn't just market to old people in polo shirts and khaki pants.
