    This game was already played in 1434 by King Ludwig the fifth but now Caruana goes Knight to A1 so it is already on move 568 that we have a completly new game. For those of you who we´re able to knew this, congratulations on having no life. And for those who just wanna enjoy the show: it´s captures, captures, captures, captures with check end of course you can not go Queen c9 because then you allow knight to f8 with checkmate

    I am a chess noob and have a doubt, what if Fabi checked the White king at 11:10 with Rook to e1, white then trades rooks because the black bishop will recapture it, could he have played for a draw?

    On move 29.. Black played Qc7.. you missed explaining the trick by Fabi the next move... Qxg3+ and the Bishop pins the f2 pawn :-)

    Agadmator is always talking about previous games from some database and how from a certain move "we have a completely new game". Which database is he referring to? Thanks in advance

    4:19 why not cxd4 instead of Rxd4?

  • @josephdestaubin7426
    @josephdestaubin7426 4 года назад

    How is 7:40 much better for white? Other than Magnus having the white pieces, Fabiano has a pass pawn, and all else is equal. And I know it's a hypothetical that wasn't played over the board, but come on guys, what am I missing here?

    • @jrd33
      @jrd33 4 года назад +1

      Well, Qxd5 looks obvious, threatening the black bishop and maintaining pressure on f7. Black is very much tied down defensively and the white queen is superbly placed. After fxg6, white can probably pick up the black pawn on a6 after a check, then black will struggle to protect his king and stop the white a2 pawn. Black just doesn't have any good counterplay. At least, that's how I see it.

      @@jrd33 thanks. And I think what I missed was whose move was next, and as the goes: the most important position in chess is to be in the position of having the next move. Blacks pass Pawn is a goner, as you put it. But at the time, I think I was just adding up pieces rather than thinking about what was about to happen.

    Both players seemed to have an equal position yet again Magnus comes on top with little effort, he really makes it look easy 👍

    The genius of Magnus is that he has figured out how to play the weaknesses of the player opposite of him. Yes the London maybe bad but Magnus knows others believe that so why not throw them off by playing it. Along with his belief he is better than anyone else makes for an opponent crushing combination.

    A bit sad you didn't speak more about that queen to C7 idea from Caruana. I mean he tried to use the pin from the bishop on d4 to counterattack, but Magnus saw that after Qxg3- Kh1 and you're done for. But I mean, to go for the cold blooded cxd5 is incredible to me in such a position X)

    I get a sense there was something that was lost in chess after its gravitational centrer shifted away from slavic culture. A subtlety in older games... maybe it's the use of supercomputers and so much memorizing... but maybe it was something more deep

      Because after the trade of Rooks, Ne6 forks the King and the Queen. On the other hand, if after Re1 and Rxe1 Caruana decides to go Bxd4 to capture the knight, then it's Re8# checkmate
