I hope he continues playing like this Also, I have to thank Agadmator, the best and the most friendly and nicest chess commentator. Making watching Chess much more enjoyable.
I wouldn't say it's bad, although black can easily equalize, it just never leaves you worse. All Magzy has to do then is play a better middle- and endgame, which is kinda his thing. I play the London religiously so that I don't have to learn openings. 90% of the time it works every time.
Hey Agad, I just finished watching game 6 between Carlsen and Caruana and it's definitely worth analysing. Thnx for your hard work. Keep up the good work
"Yes, the London System is bad but Magnus is good!" We could say that about just about every opening system except for the Scandanavian and the King's Gambit which even Magnus can't save!
I suggest you do a video on the CCI semi-final game between Magnus and Levon, where Magnus sacrificed the exchange by picking protected knight with a rook to gain positional advantage.
A cool line to point out is that at 9:49 the shot ...Qxg3 doesn't work as after Kh1 the knight stops any further checks by the black queen. Amazing how Carlsen has all his bases covered whilst attacking :)
This game was already played in 1434 by King Ludwig the fifth but now Caruana goes Knight to A1 so it is already on move 568 that we have a completly new game. For those of you who we´re able to knew this, congratulations on having no life. And for those who just wanna enjoy the show: it´s captures, captures, captures, captures with check end of course you can not go Queen c9 because then you allow knight to f8 with checkmate
Been wondering this for a while, has there ever been a World Champion who wasnt in the top3 by FIDE rating? Someone on the interwebs must know the answer...
How about that move Nd2 at 3:31, anticipating b5, Ne4? Such a clever way to transfer his knight over to g5 where it's on a great aggressive square rather than sitting on the queen's side doing nothing much. Three more natural-looking moves and black is busted. Wow.
Why didn't you show Qxg3? Pawn on f2 is pinned, so it's really interesting to see this. Kh1 and the knight convers h3 and f3, the queen covers h4, so there's no more checks. Then Bxf2 and you have to see the mate.. ;)
Quick Agadmatorino, we need the time stamps NOW! Hurry TF up, how do you honestly expect us to watch this not knowing when everything was said?! Waiting..... waiting....waiting...
@agadmator After move 35, Black could play Rxe1 Check and force a Rook trade as E1 square is guarded by the bishop, and in the next move, use the queen to check the white king by moving out the bishop and I think, it's a draw there.
I love all the new terms that are coming from the twitch chess community. We’ve got The Wooden Shield, The Lobster Pincer, and now Bros for Life. I think it’s the juxtaposition of these terms and the serious game that chess is made out to be
At 10:00, instead of moving the pawn from F7 to F6, black could have captured the pawn on G3 right? Then white king is forced to move to h1, then the black bishop could have captured the pawn on F2 right threatening to capture the rook in E1? If rook moves anywhere on the same file, then Queen could have captured the pawn on G3. Please someone explain me why did black didn't play these moves
At 09:50 why are we not looking at Qxg3? Wasnt that the point of blacks previous queen move? Edit: i think I see now that after Kh1 black has no good moves anymore
Maybe I'm missing something, at 11:04 couldn't Caruana use the rook to check the white king, and prompt a rook trade since his dark square bishop defends the rook if he does this?
At 9:35, Fabi played Qc7 to threaten Qxg3 I think. Magnus then plays cxd5(!!), allowing Fabi's queen to come into his position with check because he knew there was no follow up! Amazing game!
Maybe I’m missing something but it seems Black has some counterattack after 29. … Qc7 with …Qxg3+ then Re7 to defend. Would that have been enough to hold the game?
After Qxg3 lets just say Kh1 then the same thing will happen, there is no Rxe7 because queen will be hanging after Kh1, queen has to go all the way back to C7 to avoid check mate
9:51!!! When cxd, could Caruana not have played Qxg3??? Did Caruana miss that is Queen capture not a good move as there’s a pin from Blacks bishop? AGAD??
I am a chess noob and have a doubt, what if Fabi checked the White king at 11:10 with Rook to e1, white then trades rooks because the black bishop will recapture it, could he have played for a draw?
Agadmator is always talking about previous games from some database and how from a certain move "we have a completely new game". Which database is he referring to? Thanks in advance
How is 7:40 much better for white? Other than Magnus having the white pieces, Fabiano has a pass pawn, and all else is equal. And I know it's a hypothetical that wasn't played over the board, but come on guys, what am I missing here?
Well, Qxd5 looks obvious, threatening the black bishop and maintaining pressure on f7. Black is very much tied down defensively and the white queen is superbly placed. After fxg6, white can probably pick up the black pawn on a6 after a check, then black will struggle to protect his king and stop the white a2 pawn. Black just doesn't have any good counterplay.
