Hunting EVERY Shiny Starter - Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire

- As part of my Gen 3 Shiny Living Dex, I decided to hunt another set of the Hoenn Starters in Ruby and Sapphire. These are some of the quickest and funnest full odds hunts you can do so if you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend you do despite the Poochyena possibility.
Treecko after 20,550 resets
Mudkip after 21,730 resets
Torchic after 10,280 resets
That gives me an average of 17,520 which is terrible but these are really quick resets so it doesn't matter too much.
These will be staying as Grovyle, Combusken and Marshtomp for my living dex.

i've got uncatchable pooch shiny i'm hunting for Treecko i've done shiny softresting for one week and half still no shiny I'm hoping to get one.
Loved this compilation! I can't believe that another Pooch was brave enough to show up before Torchic after that "GET OUT OF HERE" on the final Pooch before Mudkip
Stuff like that is why they need to remove all shiny locks IMO, may be annoying to get a pooch but its funny

@@Shinii1 shiny locks are SO annoying and pointless. they just remove potential fun for a player. ridiculous and i’ll never understand why they shiny locked anything.
@@gahnity I think the reason they did it, was so people would stop soft resetting. I think they wanted people to just play the game but I agree with you.

Right now working on my first ever Ruby DTQ and currently at 2728 SR for Torchic with one Gameboy. Its a little awkward since I don’t have a capture card so I got my photography camera pointed straight at my Gameboy but hopefully that adds some charm lol. It’s the longest hunt I’ve ever done, I’m wishing for a quick hunt but we’ll see. Seeing videos like this is always motivating so thank you! Wishing everyone the best of shiny luck 🍀

I started a DTQ on dec 14 and yesterday I hit my first shiny pooch at 3319 resets and I though it was the funniest thing because I was more worried that I was going to get into the 10k resets before I would see anything shine! congrats on your 3 starters and can't wait to see what you get in 2023!

I always love seeing the hunts for starters in these games. I bred for all of them in Sword and Shield, but I'm planning on SRing for them in the original Ruby/Sapphire myself in the future. Treecko is definitely my favorite starter and shiny of the three, too.

I think I even had the record for most in a single hunt, though thankfully all pooches were under odds
Congrats on the second batch of Shiny Starters, Sonikks! I think putting your Gen 3 Shiny Living Dex in parts would be pretty cool, personally. I was thinking, since you said you're close to being 25% done in your progress and you mentioned things in like a Part 1-4 kinda format, maybe it'd be cool to do the overall compliations in 4 parts, as you progress from 25% complete, to 50%, and then on.
It's really up to you and depends on you wanna go about compiling everything, but that's just a potential idea I got based on what you said in this video. Either way, good luck with your hunts going forward!

@@redemption5763 bro shiny girantina in pearl holds a special place essentially I had at the time while I was unaware of it a fake Pokémon cartridge one of those from China however it shouldn't have had any boosted odds since this was my first shiny after a few other short hunted hunts and a full gameplay story anyway that aside so I was sitting and watching a yt video idk which on my laptop while soft resetting it had been a couple hundred soft resets but I tried to do a point at the screen and say Now in Danish (since I'm from Denmark) so I said now or Nu in Danish while pointing at the screen i did that twice and I shit you not on the second try it was shiny my reaction as a 10-11 year old kid was absolutely insane and I still hold that as my luckiest moment ever happend to me

The gen 3 shiny starters are amazing! Gen 3 is my favorite gen, as it was the first gen I played all by my self! GGs on the trio!

I was actually recently thinking about getting a copy of Japanese sapphire just to hunt a starter probably mudkip but this vid confirms I’m doing it I don’t have money to currently but as soon as I do I’m starting my mudkip hunt. I have been enjoying all the content for a while now, and I finally got a system to play gen 3 games on over the holiday! A few hours after watching this video, I hit my first full odds shiny in gen 3, treecko, well under odds I think!

Which method did you use to get there? One day i want to make it too but savely since i dont want to ruin my original save file on a Real cardridge
@@damianrogowski5519 I'm hunting on my 3DS which isn't something you can do normally without Homebrew. On that note, I used Homebrew software to inject the event into my save file. It's still possible for me to transfer it to the latest games and I would still consider it legit

0:16 I've found 6 uncatchable poochyena and I typically use status moves until it flees
Imagine being a kid in 2003 and just getting a shiny starter on a 1st encounter. I would have thought my game had a problem since it looked different from the game box and marketing materials 😅

You do still have the family of 3 maushold and 3 segment dudunsparce to go for if you’re looking for another more difficult one! I know how draining this gets but I’m glad this hunt brought out the spark again
My Ruby version battery is dry, if I replace the battery do soft resets work? or would I need to do the berry glitch fix? If anyone knows your input is greatly appreciated.

How do you count your encounters? Do you use an app, do you have a device, do you write it down?
I can still remember how one day I decided to shiny hunt a torchic on pokemon ruby, I was having fun until a damn shiny poochyena appeared, I got so mad bro I didn't even try to keep going

Got Emerald for Christmas & gonna do soft reset for shiny starter too xD only thing is my DS is old and it dont soft reset with the 4 buttons needed so have to turn DS on & off with power button instead.

So sorry if you’ve answered this before. But how do you keep track of encounters?
I use an autocounter. It only really works for capture cards though. You can use your phone (counting app) or a calculator though.

Hello friend, I have a pokemon ruby reproduction cartridge and I am trying to get a treecko shiny, since my cartridge is not an original one, the internal battery does not discharge (it does not appear at the beginning of the game that it is discharged), is there any advice to obtain it more fast? changing my ID or something.

I don't think it has happened on the same game but a long time ago, someone found a Torchic and a Pooch across 4 games at the same time. Not sure that video is available anymore sadly.

I feel your pain on an insane scale; I went for the shiny chimchar in bdsp and holy what a hunt that was. I have 3 switches so it wasn’t as bad but I went to a total of 9996 chimchars seen with a total of 5 shiny starlys in that time and finally got it 😅

There's no chain. This is full odds. It's a random 1/8192 chance.

Lol I did all 3 not too long ago, got 2 pooches before any starter then a third pooch after my first starter. But because of that I think the shiny gods felt bad and gave me my third starter one day after my second.

Hi Julie, you will need a working battery in Ruby and Sapphire. If your game boots with the message "The Internal battery has run dry" you will need to replace it. In Emerald, the battery doesn't matter.
