  • The DJI Mini 3 Pro is not a cheap toy. Does it have the chops to replace its larger, heavier predecessors in your bag as either your only pro drone or backup? This video won't answer that, but at least we'll look at what comes in the bag.
We have a course that is explicitly tailored to Micro Drones. Check it out here: coastaldrone.co/mavic-mini-co...

Just curious what the camera is. I have a Mavic 3 Pro Cine (4/3rds cmos Hasselblad main camera)

"Hey Peter, the camera is a 48mp (12mp quad-bayer) 1/1.3" CMOS. I suspect it's sourced from the Sony parts bin similar to the 1" 20MP CMOS in the Mavic 2 Pro and Air 2S. If that's the case, there's a good chance it's the Sony IMX708 sensor." --Ian

Ian, while this airframe can operate un-registered with the sub 249 batteries, would you recommend registering it if you might use the larger capacity batteries? If you are a licensed operator does it matter or the moment you try to fly it over 249 grams it must be registered? Just curious. The flight time trade off is not insignificant.

I cant speak for other countries but in the US if you’re part 107 licensed you need to register all your drones no matter the size.
If you’re unlicensed then you don’t need to register if it’s sub 250 (take off weight) however it’s only $5 to register and all the same rules apply regardless of drone size anyway.
My opinion is to get the bigger batteries and spend the $5 to register it. Hope that answers your question

Yes, as soon as the drone goes over 249g it MUST be registered in Canada (as well as USA) and the pilot must hold a basic certificate. Note that a registered mini 3 pro 250g+ can’t fly in controlled airspace or near/over people due to lack of safety assurance declaration.
