I have both and it’s amazing how good the epiphone is but you have to get the wiring pots caps switch and I can’t remember if we needed to change the output jack, frets polished The epiphone pickups sound great. They are a little fuller than the Gibson ones, I can see how some might prefer them. It depends on what vibe/tone you’re going for, they are both fantastic. I highly recommend getting the epiphone.
the sunburst one epiphone doesn't have real firebird pickup. It's a bit like real firebird but not quite made by epiphone. The expensive one has real gibson firebird pickups which are thinner sounding and weaker.
Thanks for the comparison. I thought that the regular Epi sounded better. More midrange and "meat" to the sound. I have one and think that the stock epi pickups really rock. The Gibson pickups sounded a little thin for me.
The pickups on the Epiphone seem to have more midrange bite. Maybe they’re not as period accurate, but I thought they sounded better. There was always variation in vintage pickups anyway; sometimes they would get left on the winding machine a little longer and would be hotter and more midrange-y.
@@mretrain I ordered an Epi Firebird one month ago. It just came in and I should get it in a day or two. I got the Epiphone hard case too. I think those Firebirds are way underpriced.
Everything is ‘Gonna Be’ this and ‘Gonna Be’ that. Like it hasn’t even happened yet. People don’t know how to speak anymore. Cool guitars though. But wayyyy overpriced
And Don’t forget Phill Manzanaria of Roxy Music who plays a Firebird 7 in red and Joe Bonamassa who plays a Firebird 1. One of my favourite guitars, even if a bit on the large size!
Can we please have inspired by Gibson range P90 Goldtop and 3-pickup Black Beauty?
I’ve got the Burny version’s of both of those, you should check them out, awesome guitars!
@@ces69 Thanks, will look those up.
@@sprayaho1ic
A bonus is, the Black Beauty comes with a Bigsby!
Please don't ask for stuff like that, I've already got too many guitars.
@@TexasBlues-123 Haven’t we all! Lol
Epiphone pickups sounded better, imo.
A lot of us think so

in your opinion - is the price difference justifiable?
So the pickups on the red guitar isn't real firebird pickups???

I want one in black w dot neck ?? Please make it and I will buy.
Did anyone notice that this guy ROCKS???
Who is he?
The difference is in the pickups. I have the sunburst version. Great guitar. But you can’t beat the genuine Gibson pickups.
The pickups dont justify the $6500 plus price difference. You can buy the OEM firebird pickups from Gibson for about $120 each.
When Epiphone will set honest prices for chinese guitars?
My guess would be when people stop buying them at extremely inflated prices.
And the probuckers win again. Awesome guitars.
They really do sound great!
@ they do. I mod and build guitars. I buy them to drop in a lot of my guitars. They definitely have that sound.

The sunburst was better.
Gibson better always
