    From EPIPHONE:
    Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop have teamed up again to create the Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird I - an authentic replica of the guitar designed by legendary automotive designer Ray Dietrich. When it was launched in 1963, the Firebird™ was Gibson’s first neck-through-body model, and it went on to be used by players in a wide range of genres, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards and Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, to name a few.
    The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird I delivers vintage Firebird specifications at an accessible price, including a 9-ply neck-through-body made of mahogany and walnut with mahogany body wings to either side. Kluson® planetary geared “banjo” tuners anchor the strings at the headstock, while a Wraparound Lightning Bar bridge holds things down at the other end and ensures exceptional sustain. While in keeping with the vintage 1963 Firebird I’s stripped-down specifications, the electronics are also premium and include a Gibson USA Firebird mini humbucker™ pickup with Alnico 5 magnets, CTS® potentiometers, a Mallory™ capacitor, and a Switchcraft® 1/4” output jack, giving this remarkable recreation not only the look but the sound of a classic Firebird I. An Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom hardshell case is also included.

    Man if I paid 1300 dollars for one of these and that trust rod nut was just sliding around in the channel when I got it I’d be so pissed. They can’t charge what they are for these “high end” Epiphones and not step up the quality control to match. That’s ridiculous. Also for that price they couldn’t throw some block inlays and an ebony or rose wood board on this thing to make it look a little more high end? I’m just saying man I feel like these are cool but for the money I’d expect a little more.

      you have to take in to account where they come from. to ship a guitar from Asia with that much tension in the neck youd prolly open have the headstock come out the box not attached to the guitar. so to have them set up needs to be done after it arrives. ive done literally hundreds of set up on Epi gtrs that had nothing in the truss rod. only American made stuff comes set up and Schecter dose a little dialing in before they are shipped PRS does as wee on their SE models

      I got the Epiphone DG335 a couple of weeks ago from Sweetwater. None of the QC issues. Other than the Sweetwater "55 point" checklist / inspection there was no setup work done prior to delivery. I don't recall if checking the truss rod is one of those points or not. However, those other issues should have been noted and either rejected, sent back for repairs or repaired in house before being delivered to the end user. No excuse at that price.@@evolasme

      Going for an Ember Red V. This will be Epiphone #5 ( Prophecy V, Korina V, SG, Hummingbird, Texan) for me and since Sweetwater set up 4, and K and S in PA 1, I have only witnessed QC issues on the net. Being grateful for my guitars eliminates any possible entitlement rage and if I have a problem I call my sales engineer (!) and the customer service machine ensures my satisfaction for the deal. Respect, realistic expectations and situational cognizance temper our impulses and widen our perspectives.

      i totally agree. I bought the $699 version a year ago and all I needed to do was a quick neck adjustment and it played well after. Better QC and sounds just as good as this version. Not sure what Gibson/Epiphone are thinking here.

      Honestly the pots and other stuff are the same as on the standard line the construction is basically the same but on the v-vii you get mop inlays. What makes me angry is that this whole line is a minimal step up from what they were doing a few years back with the lazarus stuff but the price is a big jump. At least give the people quality materials like rosewood for what they’re paying for. At this rate I’d much rather buy a korean guild for similar money and get abalone real flamed maple and ebony for less. I had hoped that they were going to introduce a standard line custom for less than 2k. If it was 1500 cad new with the ebony, openbook hs, and mop inlays i could’ve lived with that. Instead we’re getting these rip offs while gibson continues to price itself out of its customers range. At this rate it’ll go bankrupt again. Like never in my life has a standard line lp been 4k cad. I can buy a japanese made tokai for less than these epis and I can upgrade it too and still be under the price of tbis. Gibson has lost the plot.

    There's no excuse for the truss rod to be broken like that. Nor should the frets be loose. I'd send it back with little hesitation.

    I would love to hear how close the recent inspired by Gibson sunburst Firebird gets to these tonally. I already have my opinion as as design, components and build are concerned. For my usage I absolutely do love my Firebird that I purchased last year. Thank you sir!

    So my Inverness green firebird came today. I purchased the 650 first. But it came in pieces. So, I purchased the 63 instead. It came in much better shape than yours. I had cold feet because of the price tag. But it feels like a step up from the other firebird in build. I'm serious compared to my US fender super strat. The quality of my epi felt just as good. But it's going back. I don't like the pups or the neck. It sounds like the strat. I wanted more of a tele sound. It's not there for me. It feels a step up from the 2021 lp custom i have too. Once both guitars are returned and i pull the trigger on the on the custom, I'll use the link in the description. If the custom feels like the firebird, i think the custom or maybe the sg may be worth it?

    Gibson must have discovered people buy epiphone guitars with a reasonable price and be happy rather than buying gibson. So this is their next move.

  • @benelder6431
    @benelder6431 3 месяца назад +1

    Nice guitar but for that price or any price they should get rid of the Indian laurel. Also at that price they should also have block MOP inlays. And I'm wondering why most of the Epiphones at that price have Gibson pickups and this one doesn't and its only one pickup so it definitely should have a Gibson Firebird pickup. I didn't hear anything about a case although I'm sure it must have one as all the prior Epiphone/Gibson Custom shop inspired guitars do. Bottom line I think Epiphone missed the boat on this one!

    • @trevor4533
      @trevor4533 3 месяца назад +2

      I agree they should ditch the laurel. But a real Firebird i doesn't have block MOP inlays, it uses MOP dots like this one.
      This Epiphone does have a Gibson firebird pickup. But yes, $1299 makes zero sense.
      A couple hundred more gets you into Gibson LP junior, SG junior special, or an Eastman Sb55 that would absolutely mop the floors with this.
      ...And have a connected truss rod🤣

    Nice guitar. Not $1300 nice but whatever. They’ll probably sell because there’s a sucker born everyday. Truss Rod is just another example of Epiphone quality and why it’s not worth $1300. Pickup sounds like crap too.

    This Firebird is a neat looking guitar . I have no interest in playing one and certainly have no interest in owning one . The Gibson Firebird is big , awkward and shrill . The Epiphone version has all these attributes plus made in China . This Epiphone Firebird is destined to be a closet queen .
