I just got one! I absolutely love it! It’s weird getting used to the “shifted” feel but it’s a monster sound and it my new favorite. Worth every penny.
For those of us who think 'outside the box' the Firebird is actually a nice guitar not ONLY for heavy rock (which is what it's most associated with) but other styles including Jazz. I speak as a guitarist who never uses overdriven sounds, only ever clean sounds, and this guitar has a great tone.
100% agree, and jazz people are more openminded than we give them credit for. Keith from 5 Watt World did jazz gigs for years with a Parker of all things. :)
My first Firebird was the Slash Epi version and I fell in love with the body style. Very comfy. I use a 3” suede-back strap to combat the neckdive and weight. Great review. 🤘
Astrid, great video! I'm convinced that bird is the greatest value Epi currently offers. I have both and my USA might feel 10% better in the hand...might..the cost definitely does not merit. Are you excited about the 24' models? I'm super stoked. Congratulations on the channel, looking forward to more content.
'Til now I had not heard they existed, so thanks for that! Digging the color options, I'm really hoping they do something translucent so you can see those stripes, unless they ditched the neck-through which wouldn't be a first. A little concerned about price point creep but at least you're getting a more vintage-accurate look. And a vibrola!
Thank-you Astrid for such a thorough review and great demo. I ended up buying one and am very happy with it. I agree with your comments on it. I tend to play seated and find the body shape is pretty comfortable, not awkward at all. The build quality (and I'm REALLY picky about this) on my 2024 version is stellar. This has not been my experience recently with most of the Epiphone stuff, notably the fret work. I think that the looks of a Firebird tend to be an "acquired taste" shall we say, but it plays and sounds fabulous. I have to say that I'm also impressed with the sound of the Epiphone pickups, and was not expecting to be. There is good note separation that I can hear when playing chords. The Epiphone version is a well executed quality instrument at a stupid low price compared to the Gibson version (afaik, just a Custom Shop version at this time).
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I've been very curious about the 2024 version myself but one Firebird is enough for me. Last I checked Gibson did have non-custom shop versions but starting in at 6 grand they might as well be. Epiphone prices are starting to creep as well but given the build quality and attention to detail still well worth the money.
Now's the time, honestly. The new Inspired by Gibsons are going for around $1500 and I can very well see them dragging the used market on this one up as well. I know the price is daunting but this may be the cheapest we see a genuine Firebird in our lifetime.

Hi... Just looked at your'e channel desrciption, a christian trans musician, interessting...🤔 Is it awkward to fit your'e religous believes with your'e sexuall identity...? (Why i dare asking that...? Feels rude, wierd...) I imagine u had to go thru a lot of hate from other christian's... Like your'e playing, you def have groove... Good luck from germany...
Guten tag! Honestly it's been kind of a lifelong process of self-realization, at the end of the day Christianity has nothing to say about being trans and vice versa. Yes there are zealous bigots on either side of the artificial divide, but at the end of the day like many trans (and Christian) folks my biggest enemy is self-hate. Thank you so much for your support and kind words, and please let me know if you need further clarification.

never knew it's rails underneath the pickup cover
A lot of people don't, I didn't myself until I saw Joe Gore's breakdown.

'63 indeed, thanks for pointing that out. Every once in a while something like that slips past the censors, apologies!
