What happens when you left a disc in it...reboot and no disc drive shows up on desk top or opens in any applications... How do you eject the disc when Apple didn't mark a plain disc eject button on the keyboard anymore. The only way to access it is from a menu that doesn't show up because the disc drive isn't showing up?
Can you watch a dvd movie too?
Yes you can!
Will it work on windows 10 laptop?
Hi there, is it a straightforward install. Intel or M1. I was told (by Apple support no less) that the SuperDrive is not compatible with the Mac Mini.
I am pretty sure that this Mac Mini is an Intel CPU. I can look for sure at church this weekend. It works great...just plug n play!
@@wereviewitall Thanks!
Hello big T
Can I play my lady gaga cd's on this?
Absolutely!!!
@@HXX2324 LOL you mean Miss Piggy?
Can you play a VCD on this?
I know you can play a DVD. Not positive about a VCD.
@@wereviewitall Try it.
I have a Macbook Air 2017 with Monterey OS....just bought a Superdrive to make CD's for my older Toyota 4Runner......When I click on a downloaded video from RUclips, the menu pops up and you can select BURN TO DISC.....When I click that another pop-up says "To begin, insert a blank disc"......but I already have a blank disc in the Superdrive.....I cannot figure this out what is the problem is.....very frustrated....
I have never tried anything like that....do you have a "cd burning" software installed?
will it work with the M1 apple silicon MacBook Pro?
Sadly not.
@@verylongchannelhandle
actually it does... I have the same Apple USB Superdrive and I tested it after I made this post. It works flawlessly with my M1 apple silicon MacBook Pro.
Can you find one of these with an HDMI cable???
No, that requires extra processing power
Is this able to play other regions dvds and or Blu-rays ?
Not sure about other regions...but this deoesn't play BlueRay.
Other regions with VLC I thing
You can choose the region BUT that is a limited amount of region changing. Best to stick to whatever country you live in or you will be locked out eventually.
Does it extract CDs and DVDs into soft copies. Thanks.
With the right software you could.
@@wereviewitallGreat thanks.
My dvd drive is not working on my 2009 MacBook with this still work with it?
If you have a working USB drive then this should work.
Does games work on it ?
It reads CDs and DVDs like any other drive. So as long as the game is compatible with your Mac, it should.
Good luck trying to use this piece of crap with a USB hub. My 2019 MacBook Pro uses a C connection but wont work with my dongle. All I get is error messages. Apple products have become too touchy and finicky. Im going back to PC. Worst move I ever made was going from Microsoft to Apple. The hours wasted are not worth it.
You are correct....this is designed to only work plugged into the Mac directly. That is my biggest complaint with it for sure!
Just use a USB to USBC adapter. It's a device that requires power, and USB hubs that aren't intended to supply power wouldn't work, regardless of whether it was Mac or Windows. Don't blame Apple for your skill issue.
@@Ozzymandius1 In all fairness...I tried it with a powered hub and I too had no luck....so Not sure how it worked for you, but it didn't me.
Thank god I have a windows laptop. I have an iMac m1 and it’s a nightmare for file managing. For everything else it’s fine. The ports are so annoying since they are in the back
