- Do you want to import audio CD's into your Apple Music library on your MacBook but don't have a CD drive? Apple's USB SuperDrive will do this! Even on newer MacBooks, in my case a 2021 MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.3.1 OS, this external drive is PLUG-AND-PLAY, and best of all, IT JUST WORKS!
If you don't want to spend a bunch of money and don't need it to look pretty. Just take a CD/DVD drive from any old pc. They come out easy. Next purchase a SATA to USB adapter (they are cheap). Then plug it in and your Mac will see it. It does not need to be made for a Mac. It works GREAT. Thats what I do with my MacBook when I find a great CD to import.
I prefer listening music from cds it self. Alot more fun for me. And that is what metters.
Thank you Chuck, this is very helpful. I too have some CD’s that are not on streaming platforms, and this has given me a way forward to retain that music whilst also decluttering.
danke aus Deutschland, sie haben mich gerettet, seit 2 tagen fummele ich schon, jetzt weiß ich wie es geht
🙏Great!! I'm Gen X & late to the party -just bought my first Apple Mcbook so I can rip my x500+ CDs!!🥳😂 I already found Apple's Superdrive (£79 in UK) so it's really helpful to me to see it hooked up & in action😅👍 I've subscribed with you to assist me on my Mcbook music rip journey!!🎉😄
Can you do this with an IPad Pro?
Thanks for the video. I have an Amazon usb-c adapter and trying to get the SuperDrive to work, but it’s not being detected. Maybe I need to try the official Apple usb-c adapter to see if that fixes it for me. Any other ideas on why it won’t work for me on my M2 MacBook Pro? Thanks!
“It just works.” Mind sending me a link to a CD rip of this album lol?
Have you tried the LG LG Electronics USB 3.0 Compatible Super-Multi Slim Portable DVD+/-RW External Drive? I just bought a MacBook Pro and wanted to upload my cds, but I see the SuperDrive is either sold out or discontinued on the apple website.
I just got one of these at auction for $1 but since i don't have any Apple products to plug it into I'm going to sell it... unless i can connect it to an older Ipad Mini that i also got at auction super cheap! I do have an iTunes library from when i had an iTouch back in the day.
Do you have a video that shows how to copy songs from your Macbook to your iPod?
Hmm... I'm getting an unknown error on any CD I put into my SuperDrive...
I am trying to find a CD burner that can burn from a MacBook Pro 2023 onto a Blank CD-R
Will this work on M3 pros?
Not sure. I suggest asking the Apple Store. If they tell you it will work, but it doesn't, you can take it back.
Yes, this works great with my M3 MacBook Pro.
@@georgeshreve4926 Cool, Thanks! Just got one
It works on my MacBook Pro M1 Max so it should work on the M3 as well. Keep in mind you'll need an adapter, and you will not get USB-C speeds, but normal USB-A speeds.
@@everyoneveryvvhere Yes I bought it and it works on my M3
