In this makeover, I reveal the hidden beauty of an unwanted vintage elm dresser.
I picked up this piece for FREE off of Facebook Marketplace; the owner was moving out and had no use for an old worn-out dresser. But to me, it was not just an old worn-out dresser. It was a gem made of solid wood -- a gem that would fuel my spirit for the next few days.
First, I patched up any dents and deep scratches with Bondo. Once the Bondo was dry, I gave the whole thing a good scuffing -- except for the rails and drawers; those got an intensive sanding, since they were going to be stained. The drawers were given a darker stain than the rails to create a contrast effect on the face of the dresser. Then, the body was painted in "vintage black", which is what I call my mix of Black and Charcoal paints by Benjamin Moore (which is the same color that I used for my previous "vintage waterfall dresser" makeover).
If you enjoyed this makeover, please like and subscribe to see more. And if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer your comments.
    Thank you for watching :)

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ruclips.net/user/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I'm currently living in provincial East Germany and surrounded by beautiful, old furniture that simply needs restoring, and you have just inspired me to do something about it! I'm going to dig out my old Nirvana t-shirt and start with a dull, broken pine book shelf that my wife wants bringing up from the cellar, which I've been avoiding. Thanks for the inspiration, and thanks for including the materials used list.

Once again you've made another lil beauty with the Elm. Its Awesomely Funky.
I've watched all your vids twice now and because of that, they've inspired me to sign up on the
waiting list for a Carpentry course at our local Tech. I wish I'd carried woodwork thru from high
sch and done it yrs ago but oh well better late than never.
I really like your approach in respect of Papa and Tangaroa, the tiny ways you recycle bits of wood, feet, sponges etc so there's no waste of resources, nothing is rubbished unnecessarily and, your use of natural ingredients like Vinegar where you can, in preference to chemicals when poss. It is good.
The more I watch what you are capable of achieving, the more I'm inspired. Thank you! ❤️
