10 years ago I was laid off from my position as a professor and person in charge of the recording studio at a university after 12 years working there full time (10 hours a day). My world collapsed as I was taken from my comfort zone, but a week after that I decided not to work again for anyone and became a freelance computer service man. And guess what. For the last ten years I have got a better life and let behind all my financial troubles. I can take a vacation anytime I want and don't have to worry about schedules since I work at home. Best of luck for you! You'll make it! :)
It’s tough when it happens. Been through it twice. But remember, work hard and the cream will eventually rise to the top. There are great opportunities out there.
I’ve been laid off twice in my career. Both were very tough on me at the time. But in retrospect, had I not gotten laid off the second time, I never would’ve joined my current company where I’ve been for 12 years. I started in a pretty junior role but have since done extremely well. Now I’m very thankful for that life change.
It is tough. Big changes like that are never comfortable, but sometimes they’re exactly what we need as they force us to evolve and find better options for ourselves. I’m glad you found a company where you could stay and develop as a professional:)
