I'd go with the Vans 100% just because they use a removeable insole. That alone has elevated modern Vans above other similar brands.
Vans fall apart so quick compared to converse, absolutely tripping over a an insole
They also use some of the cheapest foxing of all of the name brands. Hell, dc is better with their foxing. Lakai is head and shoulders above vans, for the same price
@@Oblock54321 I've never has a single pair of Van's fall apart on me. I could literally go 2-3 years without actually having to get another pair if I wanted to.
@@kyleroberts1276 your so cool.
@Pheonixlgnd even then, it depends on how hard they go skateboarding, if they go out all day every day, then yeah shoes generally fall apart quick from that abrasion, thats what gets me sometimes when i see some skateboarders just straight trash companies just because of how they go out and skate, it ain't their fault people essentially sand down their shoes completely and then say "your shoes are trash", hell im pretty sure some skaters do that on purpose.
YOOOOO! So glad you’re doing a bit better and that you’re back. I’ve been concerned, checking every day 😁 I never miss a vid.
same here :)
Good to hear the Rose Anvil crew is alive.
Some of these RUclipsrs just vanish. Like Brad Hall
Toaster was being so adorable and cuddly in this vid 😭😭😭
I'm glad you're back. And the review comparison was solid. In my personal experience with both leather shoes you compared here the vans are more worth it. The ultra cush insole lasts a really long time and after my soles actually wore out I put them in other shoes to wear because they remained as comfy as they started. Also in my experience vans last longer, but the soles on these will go long before you notice any real tear in the leather. Neither counter gave out on me in that timeframe either so that's worth noting
He's an amazing guy
One thing to note! The Vans you reviewed are meant are marketed and made as work shoes, so that could possibly be as to why they would be a bit better quality than an everyday shoe, i think a slightly more fair comparison would be with a “classic tumble” style of vans shoe
i got a pair not too long ago, i like how thick and comfortable they are
also one thing to add: the classic tumble line is not leather
So glad to see y’all back & I hope everyone is recovering well. Hopefully 2022 is nothing but smooth sailing from here on out.
I LOVE your videos so much! They are so beneficial when dealing with quality vs. price! I work at a Vans store and I tell people about your channel all the time! Keep up the great work! I would love to see some other shoe models of Vans as a review video!
I'm glad to see you back and hope that your colleagues will be feeling better soon as well!
P.S: leather hiking shoe series would be awesome for 2022!
Stoked to see you back!
Can y’all do those color changing vans? They have a layer of a black material and change with wear. Would be interesting to see what they’re like on the inside and maybe a comparison to other brands that have done the same.
Love the video! Always appreciate the leather grain diagram :) The Street Fighter edit brings me back hahaha
Looking forward to the WWII boots series 🤩
Back with another one 🔥. Good to see ya!
So relieved, and glad, to see a new video, and that you are on the downside of Covid. Great vid and am excited for the upcoming ones!
A military desert Boot series would be AMAZING. Glad you're back my king though 🙌 I hope you get better!
I always thought that felt on the bottom was so the store could tell if you'd worn them for return purposes! So interesting!
I never found the canvas to be the weak point on chucks. After 2 years of wear, the boxing started separating from the sole and allowed moisture in. On a side note, I’ve noticed some chucks with and without the felt on the bottom. At first I’ve only seen the non felt at discount retailers but later noticed it at a department store that previously had the felted sole version.
Yeah, the soles always go first. Not close, for me. But I'm a pretty heavy supinator.
glad to see you back and i think we're all excited for a fresh start in the new year!! i'd be really interested to see you pick apart some Collegium sneakers -- they're an up-and-coming brand with premium italian made products. it would be absolutely amazing to see your opinion on them and if they're worth the price point.
I have a pair of grey leather Converse lows, since 2016. Wear them almost every day, they're still holding up well even now. I wear em as slippers in the house too, I just flip them up when I'm heading out. Great shoes, go with any look.
You look good. Stay safe and healthy. Thank you for the review. If you need to take a break it’s understandable. No need to rush.
Glad you went with my favorite. Good to know you're doing well.
Welcome back Weston💪 here’s to a great 2022🥾
Glad your back. Missed your videos
Glad that y’all are healthy again.
You are fortunate that the kitty allows you to be a part of his show. 😉🙂
Love your fit man. Awesome looking jacket and fits with the hoodie. Great video 👌👍
Glad to have you back, your honest and unbiased opinion has been missed. I'd like to see you cut some FD/EMS duty boots in half. You know how many gimmicks are thrown our way. Appreciate ya.
I have a Vans old skool and a Converse Jack Purcell in all leather (black). Love both I think the quality of the leather used in these shoes are comparatively much better than the ones you have but I would say the Vans one I have is more comfortable. Would love to see you do a break down of sandals too bro. And get well soon!
Missed the sound of shoes being cut , glad y'all are better!
Glad to have you back man!
It's great to see you back. I just got a pair of leather converse for Christmas .. Nice shoes for the most part. But don't want to wear them for for of damaging them. But anyway . Great videos ! Keep it up.
this is a great review . thanks. Converse says it’s luxe leather so i assumed it’s either going to be top grain or full grain leather. thanks for clearing that up.
💯 Vans all day. I love seeing you do this. It's cool to see them compared this way 👍
Can you test Noble Outfitters "Muds"? They are the most comfortable and warm winter boot I've ever worn. I wonder what's their secret?
As always, loved the review…and the cat!!! How sweet is he!!! 😍😍😍
Yeahh, i've been waiting for this🔥🔥
Glad you're back hope you feel better soon. You should also take a look at the tumble leather old skools
I own a pair of white rubber sole vans for about two years now, and I can't complain about them at all. They are still in good shape!!
Good to have you back.
I just bought a pair of Carolina Moc Toes because of your videos. I'm happy with em so far. Their gonna be work boots; I work outside all day.
Nice to see that vans are justified being $25 more
Thank goodness you're back
Your videos really give me new perspective on shoes.
I own a pair of low top leather Converse, and two pair of high tops, but I have had mine for nearly 8 years (they're my "fancy"/going-out-partying shoes, so they don't get a lot of wear). My low tops look exactly like the ones here, but mine have thick leather. I remember when I bought them being surprised how thick and heavy they were for a low top sneaker. Perhaps I lucked out, or maybe the manufacturing has changed in the intervening timeframe.
I had a pair of low tops like 10 years ago and the leather was wayyyy better than these seem to be. Wore them heaps (my only shoes at the time) and they held up to a lot of abuse.
Chuck 70 are still good and heavy
I still own a pair of Chucks that I bought new in 1989. These sneakers have been to 4 countrys, countless states, and thousands of stages during our touring days.. the counter cover has just recently started to come out in pieces. So I'd say I've surely gotten my mileage worth out of them
How are there still any soles on those shoes?
Thank you for saving me $$$! I had been scoping out those leather converse, but information is key!
Love the vids
Welcome back get better soon
Glad you're feeling better
wish you a full speedy recovery!
Commenting for the algorithm. Keep the videos coming.
I'd love to see your analysis of Xero shoes or winter boots. Found you recently and I'm loving these videos! :)
Good to see Toast back!
The cat stealing the show! Glad you're feeling better!
Another great video. Thanks.
I can't believe your almost 500k I remember the old days !
Great comparison. I love your cat 🐈
Thanks for the video
Welcome back Weston, hope everyone is doing better. Really looking forward to the WW2 boot series! I'd love to you do a series on motorcycle boots. Not the insane track/race boots, but the growing market of urban moto boots. Brands like TCX, Rokker, Belstaff, Stylemartin, John Doe, Merlin, etc. Are they any better than Red Wing, Nicks, Wescos? Or are they all just "cheap" boots with some padding thrown in? Thanks for great content.
I'd love to see you cut a Viberg Service Boot in half. It seems pretty conclusive that Nick's are the best of the best of the work boots. Viberg is often hailed as the best of the best of the slightly more style-focused heritage boots. I do understand that they cost a lot and cutting one in half does feel criminal, but I think a lot of people would like to see what's inside their $800 boots.
Glad to hear that everyone is starting to feel better. Dont push yourself too hard on our account. Have you heard the of Aliexpress store Al's Store Rock Can Roll? It looks like he makes high quality boots for relatively cheap. Theres a sale going right now too, so if they end up being less than great, its less of a loss.
I MISSED YOU MY GUY IM HAPPY UR DOING GOOD
It'd be nice if you did the Converse Run Star Hike Shoe cut in half, I'd love to see that!😁👌
Just bought a pair of Adidas Forum ‘84s, solid leather construction, and most solid feeling shoe ever put on my feet.
When I was working 12 hour shifts standing on cement floors, the only shoes I could stand were Sketchers and Joyas. The Sketchers lost their squish in a few months and had to be replaced, but the Joyas were good for up to about two years. I'd love to see a pair cut in half and see what the differences are.
Probably chinese fakes. Real ones are called Skechers
@@vicious99 Joyas are Swiss and much better quality than Sketchers.
You should test Zara leather boots! I know sooo many people who are tempted by the look/price, but struggle to buy them cause of fast fashion and the quality you get
Welcome back!
It would be awesome to see a series looking at skateboarding shoes. Would also like to see some Pumas make their way onto the channel.
Thanks to this channel I think have a leather addiction.
Glad you're all feeling better!
Can we have some ECCO sneakers dissected next? 😁
Hey great to see you back with more videos, can you do a motorcycle boot episode or even season?????? 👍😘
Welcome back! Wonder if you'd ever thought about comparing golf shoes? Maybe such as a G/Fore Gallivanter vs FJ Premier. Both look like good year welts but they don't state that they are. I think it'd make a cool video for the golfers out there. Keep up with the great content and thanks for all the videos! Cheers!
Would you wear golf shoes off course like we do basketball shoes or tennis shoes?
@@IllDawgable I wouldn't but I walk all my rounds so that makes for plenty of miles of wear throughout the year.
Great video
I'm excited you are back and that the world war 2 boot series is coming.
What I think would be a very helpful video (maybe only for me) would be comparing the skate classic vans to skate vans with the waffle cup sole. There’s not really anything out there about what they’re like on the inside, so I think you’re the perfect person to do it.
I have the bmx vans that are a green leather. Bought them for riding, was very skeptical on buying them. They are decent quality but doesn’t seam like real leather. But it’s holding up and wore in good
I've had a couple pairs of leather high-top Chucks. I always found the "leather" to be very durable, at least. Always wear out the soles just about the time the "leather" is getting how I like it. Soles are the weakest link.
Could be different material with the high-top Converse
Great video as always! do you have any plans cutting dress boots/shoes in the future? I really want to see if Meermin is good
I was wondering if you could do a comparison with these leather shoes versus like the commercial version like shoes for crews because I've seen they have a Converse clone and another great video hope you feel better
Welcome back
I've had the padded leather chucks for riding. They're great for an alternative to shifting through that skinny canvas.
Get some proper boots dude.dress for the slide ,not for the ride .
Very cute and funny cat. Good video. Thanks.
hey man i’m a huge fan. i was curious if you could cut open a pair of track and field throwing shoes? i’m a shot put thrower at my local high school and have always wanted to see what they looked like on the inside. thanks for the great content brother.
I've missed you guys!
I already know these shoes are not great quality but it's always a joy to see you analyze them. Any plans to dissect some Truman java waxed flesh boots or Thursday vanguards?
Hey, I don't know if you accept review suggestions from the comments, but I think it would be really interesting if you tried cutting some not so mainstream sneakers like Converse Run Star Hike, reebok club c 85, veja v10, new balance 574/997h.
Also equally or even more interesting would be to review some designer boots/shoes like bottega veneta boots, ysl boots, etc and compare them to other handmade products!
Honestly I'm a little biased towards you doing these reviews because I'm interested in some of these items and there aren't many honest and thorough reviews about them, so you could fill this gap!
Honestly I use those vans to hike in and I must say they're pretty comfortable
Hyped for the WW2 boots! My current favorite pair of boots is the Corcoran 1510 jump boots.
This is a great video. My wife's been looking for some simple leather sneakers. I'm trying to find some MiUSA women's leather sneakers but it's not as easy as it sounds.
I love both of them
The WW2 boot series sounds exiting! I cant wait too see Corcoran jumper boots, german boots, russians and others reviewed.
Another great video, cheers Weston. Any chance we can get a review of the new Red Wing Ironranger crossovers
I thought his name was rose anvil lmao
WW2 boot series?!?! Im excited for that!!!
I couldnt imagine wearing converse or vans
Way to go on that 9.9 cut centeredness score!
Happy you are doing ok. The ww2 boot series sounds sweet. Have you thought about a steel toe boot series or a PNW Boot series Nicks, whites, jk boots, Franks, etc compare there work boots and maybe throw in a redwing logger.
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the adidas Ultraboost DNA. They are renowned for their comfort.
Awesome video. Can you cut open one of the VANS MTE line? They are supposed to be great for cold and wet weather, would love to see how good they actually are. Thanks!
HOPE U GET WELL SOON AND THERE ARE THESE WINTER SLIPPERS FROM FEIT THAT ARE QUITE EXPENSIVE BUT ALSO LOOK REALLY GOOD AND I THINK ARE ARE A HIGH QUALITY,WOULD LOVE IF U COULD DO A REVIEW OR VIDEO. :)
The last time I decided to try Vans I noticed they didn't have a removeable insole and Converse did, so I went with the converse, strange it's reversed with these models.
All the classic Chuck Taylor's don't have removable insoles, and these leather chucks are a variant of classics. Chuck 70s however have that extra insole, reinforced stitching, and glossy rubber, making them higher quality, but they're $85+ :)
Hey have you reviewed vans boots? Not the snowboarding ones but the waterproof ones that look like sk8 his. Ive had a pair for like 4 years now and they are still in surprisingly good shape
It’d be cool if you could take a look at some of the higher end sneakers like Visvim, Hershey Shoe Co/Victory Sportswear, Feit, Hender Scheme... I’m not expecting anything crazy on the inside, but the attention to detail and materials would be great to see a breakdown
I've never seen a pair of those fuzzy Converse outsoles and this is the first time I've heard of them.
