Idk just something about taking a well established quartz watch with an Alarm function and going back to days of Pocket watch complications. Making them even smaller. I think the fact Grand Seiko has Seiko in the name puts a lot of people off. No one thinks of Seiko as $10K watches. Quality watches yes but not that level. Also at that price point they are competing with all the top Swiss brands.
Better built then Rolex imo
I agree, the only reason why Rolex is so expensive and sought-after is because of the marketing psychology the company pushes on people interested the watches.
That's just a fact.
@@HeavyRollin Seiko shot themselves in the foot by naming their premium brand Grand Seiko. It’s like naming your luxury brand Grand Toyota. Very few people want to pay big bucks for a brand name that includes a cheap brand name in it. So it’s their fault.
This is true
Better finished but built.... no
You only buy GS if rapid depreciation doesn’t bother you.
Only a brokie would have depreciation on their mind when buying something
Imagine buying a collectible thingy and legitmately thinking about how it could be a good financial decision
Buying a watch as an investment is stupid as hell
Bruh I just think it looks good
Fuck the money
one might argue that the wrist watch is mostly "feature complete", so what remains is slightly changing the styling every couple of years.
feels like joe did so well cause he's basically a curious kid that gets to talk to people about their weird hobbies and stories
if i had the money to buy an watch in the world, i would still buy a G-Shock Mudmaster. You dont need any other watch if you have that
Amazing analogy for joe to comprehend
He’s a car guy so it works well.
"Grand Seiko is the Lexus LFA of watches".
Soooo aptly described..
Cuz It’s amazing and no one bought it?
@@chadgrov I would kiss you if I could, genius comment.
@@StevenMcPeterbilt bro, whattt?
@Lee the LFA was so under-appreciated. It died before it even had a chance. Anyway, how do you know I’m a man/gay? Maybe I’m a woman, am I not allowed to kiss?
@@StevenMcPeterbilt calling the LFA under appreciated just shows you're clearly not one to know about the car or the topic. In the car industry the LFA is one of the most appreciated supercars of all time
I like how Joe finally saw the thing about mechanical watches. He used to make fun of watch people. Till he saw a mechanical movement in operation. They are like tiny cities everything working in unison. If one thing is off the entire thing stops. Screws that look like a grain of sand. The thing with mechanical watches I find interesting is Is the introduction of new complications. The new interesting design of the train wheel layout. Or bring old complications back. I'd love to see more mechanical watches with alarm functions. The tiny striker hitting the chime. Idk just something about taking a well established quartz watch with an Alarm function and going back to days of Pocket watch complications. Making them even smaller. Vulcains Cricket is a awesome example. Then there is also the race to make the thinnest mechanical movement. Some are less than a thin quartz watch. This is a Automatic watch. Thinner than 5 credit cards stacked.
Eco-drive is also an innovation. For Citizen watch like AQ4080 model, it’s one of, if not, most accurate watch out there.
Try to hold a grand seiko diver with a submariner
The submariner feels like a toy watch
Yet the figures are like 90-10 if you can buy a submariner and you buy a grand Seiko instead you deserve to be slapped
Grand seiko don’t hold their value or increase in value
@@APBCTechnique watches are not investments
@@APBCTechniqueif you're buying a watch with this mentality you probably don't have the money to buy it
In real world everyone are on waitlist to buy Submariners cuz only a mental would pay 10g for a trash GS 🤣
I love how he said seiko is Lexus dam right it is
"Hey babe, check out the super smooth sweep on my watch" said no one...ever.
You clearly dont own a spring drive. This is what you do lol
It’s interesting to see that even Swiss are manufacturing quartz movement with precision like Grand Seiko 9F movements (+-10sec /year)
But Swiss is not so loud about it for some weird reasons…
GS is one of my all time favs, and as a full time watchmaker I see a lot of great watches. I own a GS.
10..... Thousand?
Na, 10 bucks joseph. of course 10 thousand!
No disrespect to Grand Seiko... But for 10k, I would of just bought a Rolex Datejust
@@MrSamstackz Meh, I'd still pick a GS.
@@MrSamstackzNah, the Datejust a bit too stark looking in my opinion; its dial is not unique anymore in the current saturated homage watch market. GS dials and movements actually have something more unique to offer.
@@TunnelsnakesYeah, Grand Seiko makes some beautiful dials.
im pretty sure the spring drive grand seiko are closer to 50k
Lets also enjoy Orient
It’s not 10 grand and that’s a second hand not a chronograph hand
He have SBGC253 , spring drive chronograph.
Right? Cost about 2k
@@honestreview169 bro he has the chronograph grand seiko and it costs 12,000.
I love Grand Seiko! Gorgeous finishing! Like a katana!
I'm so happy to see someone who understands that a) grand Seiko is in the same realm as high-end Swiss players and b) the spring drive is completely innovative and has the best time keeping ability of any non-battery powered watch on earth... AMAZING QUALITY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP... I would take a GS over a Rolex ANY DAY
Bro just humiliated Toyota using watch
They need to find a way to calculate time digitally. It would be way cheaper than using mechanical means.
Then what do these pretentiousness rich cucks spend their money on??
Mechanical is more fun and magical you can’t beat the feeling. You are the battery for the watch, it beats with you like a second heart. They will still be around when we are long gone, quartz will not be.
Grand Seiko and Seiko are actually different companies
That's what he said
@@DCfreerunnerhis analogy was literally that both are Lexus, and one is just a higher end Lexus. They aren’t the same company
If you’ve never seen the inside of a watch you don’t know how much of an art it is
i just dont get the term handmade in marketing, like, wouldnt you want something robot/mechanical made cause its much more precise, you can still have QC and human assistance?
Machines are great at making the parts, not assembling and finishing them.
Lol guy either didn’t talk about spring drive or they cut it out. Grand seiko’s spring drive is miles ahead anyone’s movement it’s crazy.
Are you deaf?
I'd still buy a Seiko over a Grand Seiko. Much better value.
What's the difference in ECO Drive and Automatic Eco drive runs by light never needs a battery can run 4 months in the dark before needing any light
I would like a watch where the hour hand can be set independently of to a detent. So one can switch to daylight saving time easily without skipping a beat.
Probably the best watch money can buy
That is a mattet of opinion. But it sure is fantastic for the price. You have to buy a Patek or a A. Lange & Söhne to get anywhere near it. And a Grand Seiko for 10k is better than a budget A. Lange & Söhne to 10k
It's worth nothing if it doesn't have a calculator on it.
end of the day seiko sells more watches than rolex does .
Toyota sells more cars per year then Ferrari, that doesn't make them better.
@bdegrds unless you live in europe or near a race track, yes. There Aint no way you are driving a ferrari in normal traffic to justify the price.
Grand seiko is a passat at best
It's the actually the river outside the grand seiko factory, they used as the dial.
I have a Seiko watch from 1971 thats automatic, ie it winds itself by my arm movements using a weight that gravity pulls as I move my arm.
Nah… Seiko is Toyota. Grand Seiko is Lexus.
Snowflake is IS 500 F sport. They don’t have a LFA yet :)
Orient: Toyota. Seiko: Toyota-Lexus. GS: Lexus-Lexus LFA. The movement and finish from dial to bracelet is just too good on most GS imo
If you're intrigued by the visual of the sweeping second hand, but not enough to pay 10g's. Bulova offers the Precisionist watches, with an impressively smooth quartz movement.
It might not be an heirloom, it definitely won't impress the label queens out there, but it could satisfy your need for a timepiece with a feature you enjoy.
👍
If I could get my hands on a GS Snowflake or Summer with the green dial and gold markers, I’d never let them out of my possession. Incredible watches
Vacheron constantin patrimony are insanely smooth
Bulova precision isn't has the smoothest sweeping hand and cost 1/10th the price but spring drives are better imo
That sweep is really nice cant lie if you really pay attention it turns smoothly.
The Bulova Precision minute hand moves just as smooth
The shunbun is 6k probably the most beautiful watch seiko has ever made
Just ordered my first seiko GMT today
Grand Deimos are hand made or hand finished.
But are they as good as a Casio G-SHOCK G-7900?
The smoothest sweep is on a tuning fork movement.
What model is the last one shown? Can’t seem to find that same texture. Love the ripples though.
"around 10"
"Thousand?!"
"No just 10 dollars"
This is the kinda guy who knows just a bit more than people who don't know anything at all and loves to talk like he's an expert.
But what time is it? Exact same time as my watch
I just wish they had more exciting designs.
