Here is episode 4 of my mini series for Free File Friday. Today we talk about cake toppers.
I will (try) to upload a video every Friday with a tutorial on how to design certain files for you to learn and a link to the file to download and use.

I have just got a second hand laser cutting machine LS 3020. I am having such a hard time with their program. Can you cut directly from inkscape to the laser cutter. Im so confused with it all xxx

Just checked that model online and looks like it has ‘Ruida’ control board.
This means you’ll need to either rdworks or lightburn to send files to your laser.
So you can design and save them in Inkscape then open up either rdworks or lightburn and import the file. Then you can set speeds/ powers etc and send to the laser to cut/ engrave.

hi mate, love these toppers, what material would you recommend for this? as i would like to do a 40th Birthday Year cake topper next week

I’d say go for acrylic as it’s plastic and easy to use and clean. Wood if you have to. Just make sure it’s sanded well after so no chips or anything fall off 👍🏻

@@MARCAM hey this makes my text a blob and does not thicken it

That usually happens if your text is really small. For some reason Inkscape only offsets a set amount. If you just increase the size of your text, then offset and then just resize to fit your project.
