A number of years ago I got to my cousin's beach house around 6pm after work. The lifeguards were gone for the day and the beach was quiet bc a storm was coming in. Bc if the storm the water was cloudy due to being churned up. I'm about 30 yards from the shore enjoy the warm storm fueled water and out of the corner of my eye I see a gray fin glide by. "Shit this is how I die and nobody will even know." For some reason my solution to this dilemma was to exhale and sink below the surface. It was at that point that I heard "cacacacca chirp."...it was dolphins, I almost drown from being so relieved. Ended up spending about 15 mins with 5 of them about 20 ft away from frolicking about.

Orcas are the smartest animals in the ocean. They know the children are not prey and would not waste the time or energy to pursue them. They will, however, swim by to check them out. Because curiosity is an indicator of said intelligence.

I believe (I have no scientific evidence for this), that the orcas are so intelligent they know we are the top of the food chain. So they know not to mess with us and start a war they will loose. This is just conjecture, but they have been known to co-operate with humans and even hunt with us in the wild. The only time Orcas have attacked humans is after long term captivity and because they were "mistreated".

Captive or not swimming with orcas everyday like sea world got people eaten if they swam with them in the wild that much i would bet people would get eaten. So its understandable why captive orcas completely loose all their sanity and kill people.

The expert also said that any interactions are incredibly rare so how can you claim it is "something they do"? He said they are curious but usually just check people and move on without any physical interactions in the wild.

Orca’s are highly intelligent and sensitive animals. They understand we are of a different species than what they encounter in the seas. They could sense the fear in the children so they swam by them. Usually they’ll hang around observing us and what we’re doing. Often, these amazing animals are misunderstood. The lack of concern from those filming this is more frightening than the orca’s 😮

I was reading that a lot of that had to do with them being trained/taught about what’s edible from an early age; it’s a part of their culture, and as highly intelligent, social animals, they’re very committed to what they learn from members of their pods. Like the Southern Residents of the PNW who only eat fish (and almost exclusively a single type of salmon), and are starving because of it…yet in the same ecosystem they inhabit, there are an over-abundance of seals that a different ecotype of orcas are eating/flourishing on. It’s strange to us as humans, I guess…why wouldn’t you eat anything that’s available?? But that’s not they’re way. They’re fascinating creatures!

Also the JRE podcast, where he talks to a sea world employee whistle blower, who is not making anything from what he is saying. He is actually getting his live destroyed, from an army of lawyers hired by sea world. Who by the way have not won a single lawsuit, though spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, to stop the truth about their practices. Just because some one makes a documentary about something doesn't necessarily mean they are lying and only looking for financial gain, or that what they say is not true. What makes you think they are so innocent? Just the fact they take majestic intelligent creatures, out of there habitat, only for the purpose of financial gain. So then who is really the one making money off this whole thing? And got alot more to lose? Also the movie profited 800,000. Which is alot of money. So is the 5, 000 000 that they had to pay, to investors. Or 65 million, in 2022.
