- Here is a little look at the very rare Japanese version of Taito's Operation Tiger arcade pcb named Operation Tiger Second Mission.
There is no commentary in this video, just showing attract mode and a testing of the controls. The camera moves from time to time as I play one handed while filming.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you are all getting settled in for 2024 and whatever it throws at us. This is just a little look at the Japanese version of Operation Tiger titled Operation Tiger Second Mission. This is an extremely rare game with almost zero documentation on the game or it running. There isnt any commentary in this video as I was just testing this setup, but I thought Id upload it to show you what it looks like compared to the English version. Ill try to get some more interesting stuff up when I get the chance. Until then, I wish you all the best for this year.

This was the fourth game in the series wasn't it? Op Wolf 3 went for that Lethal Enforcers look.
Happy New Year Larry! Yes indeed. Nothing like the first two or the third at all for that matter. Operation Wolf 3 did in fact do what Lethal Enforcers or Locked n' Loaded did This one here is also different from the English version in that the spoken scenes are cut for the most part, the game feels like it goes faster, and the stage numbering isnt the same. Its neat though nevertheless. I hope you had a good holiday and you have a great 2024 as well!

Happy new year, Luke! Interesting to see this version, never came across it before...
Happy New Year to you too my friend! yeah, this version starts off differently with stage order, music, and some other points like hit boxes around enemies. The voice sections and dialogue are also mostly cut. It is one that only rare few have ever seen before and was thought to be a unicorn of sorts in the arcade world.
Apparently Roy Adams or Hardy Jones weren't available for this mission.
Haha! yeah, I dont think they survived the sequel and perished in the water. This mission was never going to happen for them lol. Thanks for watching

Happy New Year Luke! Lovely look at this rare board! I much prefer the look and feel of the first two games (Wolf and Thunderbolt) - These early 3D based games haven't stood the test of time as well as the earlier 2D ones.

I still wished they fixed this game for MAME, currently it's.. not sure to say Playable because first, there's no sound at all and second, the lightgun input changes between 8-10 frames, it's not instant.
Happy New Year to you too Dany :D. Yeah, MAME does take some time to work out all the bugs but eventually the are able to get things running smoother. That is crazy about the input changes though, it must make it hard to play. The lack of sound sucks too. Hope you can get your game on soon though!

This was neat to see! too bad this one never got any sort of home conversion, would've been neat to play something like operation wolf but with 3D polygonal graphics. suppose the best I could hope for is it someday shows up in MAME! at least there you'd likely have the option of USB light guns, and I've been keeping an eye out for one that won't break the bank.
For sure man. Taito has been known to release compilation games in thee past so there is a possibility this may also see a digital release some time in the future. With MAME getting better and better, its only a matter of time I suppose. Hope you are doing well!
@@lukemorse1 Oh yeah suppose there's always hope it'll see some kinda re-release they have been pretty good getting their older stuff out there. But yeah one way or the other hopefully I'll get to play it someday, it seems fun! and yeah thanks man we're doing well, the mrs. has been getting over being sick but I did get us a dreamcast for christmas so we've been playing a ton of stuff on it like soul calibur and puzzle fighter, we've had a blast!
