I'd recommend getting a GSR haversack as a buttpouch for the osprey system and to swap out the thin harness with a MTP PLCE one, they fit very well and directly to the haversack which holds it all up better. Great for more storage and for larger things.

Another great video. I agree with you it's great to compartmentalise you're equipment.
The negative thing about it is its tactical, anything that looks tactical you don't blend in as much and you look like you're ready to camp.

great vid, I have a dpm setup, but also have another belt (no yoke) with just 3 pouches on (water / utility / gas mask), which is great for day hikes, as the belt sits just above the hips, so is comfy

Yes the respirator (gas mask) pouch is a great item and I often attach it to my packs for additional storage for things like basha tarps etc.

Was thinking of getting a yoke harness for my belt, though I already have a couple of those rocket pouch yokes lurking - could you show us how you've got the yoke hooked up to the older plce belt? Did you cannibalise something else to make loops?

The PLCE side pouch yoke has some extra attachments which have nexus buckles on, they could be missing from your yoke. These male buckles fit into the female’s on the pouches on the PLCE webbing belt. Check out Rifleman Moore on RUclips, he recently did a series on PLCE equipment, this fitting is shown in one of his videos 👍

Plce yokes cone in two flavours, the rocketpack one has buckles and clips, the 'proper' webbing yoke has strappage.
I modified a rocket one for my build by adding straps taken from a proper.
Condor ii molle belt, main inhabitants are a pair of rocket pouches and a gsr pouch.

You can actually fit four rockets onto the yoke in a pinch, my setup is very modular but I 'could' feasibly have 11 shitbins in addition to the main Bergen, 2 on belt order, 2 racks of up to 4 rockets each on the main sides/front and one on top of the lid.

Jeez that’s a lot of shitbins 😂 could be worth trying that set up 👍🏻

      @@guerrillashadowman Working on it ,
I need two more dpm for the lower rack as I've borrowed 2 for the webbing set up, (Top rack/ running pack is four olives) and then I'll have my 11 plus one extra, unless I put three on the belt at the back and move the gsr to the hip and get another of those for the other side,
That'd be around 45l capability on the webbing before bottle pouches/grabby bag, and 90l in just rockets on the main, THEN the actual longbacks space...
Serious carry but come the apocalypse it's definitely be worth it, thank F for bicycle racks haha!

Have you thought about adding a bergbuckle? (Good easy adjustment, very secure, and you can get it open very easy even with an injured hand, beats the nexus and old roll pin hands down and you dont have that long end of webbing strap to piss around with feeding it in and out of the roll pin)

    Great info !!!
Why was the "mtp" kit replaced by the Virtus kit ?

    • @guerrillashadowman
      @guerrillashadowman  Год назад

I believe that there had been plans for the introduction of the virtus soldier system, possibly even before the MTP set in the video was issued, so the mtp Osprey webbing was just a stop gap that was used for maybe 10 years max. A lot of stop gap kit was about during the early 2000’s due to the modernisation of the army and the camouflage change etc. 👍

MTP is the camo us British use, its pretty much our version of multicam (in my opinion its better) as for the move to virtus, it was to do with fighting light, the army pretty much wanted to slimline their fighting force, ditching the belt kit in favour on a body armour/battlebelt setup. Though the beltkit like seen here is still used. But i think its now just down to individual preference or mission specific orders. The virtus setups work better for mounted combat, due to the lack of bulky pouches to the rear of the individual. However the body armour is now standard issue, cracking piece of kit in my opinion. And is a proper replacement for the osprey.
