The way his voice changed as soon as the horses were brought up, you can tell he's deeply passionate about these animals. What a king
We all are. The horse is a symbol of war comfort and humility imo. I wish I had one to ride lol
I choked up a bit when he told the horse that got an Oscar. Good job, George.
I know!! So sweet, right??
George was both literally and metaphorically caring Russel Crowe to that Oscar win
Would have loved to hear the horse’s acceptance speech :)
What a surprise..I heard he was a bit difficult to interview and I remember him with a TV presenter called Mariella Frostrop..and he was a bit 'curt' with her..but he was great with Stephen...maybe age has mellowed him..or maybe his horse has unsaddled him a couple of times😊
We've all done stuff in our 20s or late teens that we cringe at in our 30s or 40s...hopefully, lollol!!!💝
Russell is a great story teller. Could listen to that great voice for hours.
Thank you very much for your lovely words, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
Gladiator. The MOST true description of a man.
Gotta respect a man who knows how to connect with animals. Good on ya Russ! 😍
His home in Australia is a farm: horses, cattle, cattle dogs, etc.
Yes he does a lot about Animals that shows the ethics of the man.
He reminds me of Viggo Mortenson. He bought the horse from Hidalgo and spent tons of time with Brego from LoTR. Love actors who love their on screen animals.
Hanny Hawkins
He’s got a place across the road from Bondi beach as well I think, unless Danielle got it in the divorce!
@@kerryn6714 I have Cousins in Sydney.the way Animals are treated is getting worse.if anyone mistreated an Animal they should be banned for life for owning any animal
I really like Russell Crowe. I loved his portrayal of a devoted husband who sprung his wife from jail in The Next Three Days. I loved him in Proof of Life, Gladiator, A beautiful mind. He can express so much with minimal movement. I wish him joy, peace and genuine people around him.
He was a soldier of Rome
Honor him
Only in a theater.

@@immanuel9040 True - but what we do in life - echoes in eternity !!
There's something tough, macho and brutish, yet spiritual, meditative and beautiful about Russell Crowe, it's brilliantly unique.
Love some of these stars and actors who don't fight time. Go in the direction of preconceived mortality.
It must be the extra 100 lbs he put on.
It's australians
I'm not getting spiritual, meditative, and beautiful.
He's very intelligent, that's for sure.
Gladiator is one of my favorite movies of all time.. amazing
Yeah! Russell was absolutely fantastic in both 'Gladiator' and 'A Beautiful Mind'!
Mine too
Mee too
My favorites by him are Gladiator, Robin Hood, American Gangster, Cinderella Man, and A Beautiful Mind. All great movies. He’s got a lot of other good ones too but not as good as those. His best is Gladiator
"do you realise we won the Academy Award" - I love him even more
And also, I could swear he knew.
Notice Russell Said "We" And Not "Me". It's more than just one to make a great movie.
Oh my gosh, listening to him talk about the horses he's worked with makes me so happy! And I completely agree with what he said about animals remembering us. For sure.
"We won the Academy award" . Outstanding. I'm not crying, you're crying
Russel Crowe is an amazing actor. Absolutely love his work 👏👏
Thank you very much for your lovely words, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
He seems just so delightful to talk to
He is now. He's had his moments in the not so distant past where he's been an arrogant prick. I guess he's mellowed with age.
Soon as he started waxing lyrical on horses and dogs I was sold on the dude. What a cool cat.
Love this guy....I can watch him over and over. Hes an inspiration to us all.
I can't tell you how heartfelt and sincere I am when I say I'm glad to have had a positive acquaintance with all of you🌻💯👌
I love how Russel aged gracefully, top bloke
Absolutely true. I worked at a zoo for abotu a decade, and did daily work with an American Alligator named Fred. After 13 years, I went back to visit the zoo with my family, and Fred not only crossed the pen when I started speaking to him, he remembered his 'nod yes when asked if he wants a chicken wing' trick.. which the curator said he hadn't preformed in at least 10 years.
Animals aren't 'people like us'.. but they're people of their own kind.. and there is definitely 'somebody home', whether we recognize it or not.
Yes and even backyard birds can recognize people who put seed in a bird feeder regardless of what clothes they are wearing. That means they recognize faces. We sorely underestimate the intelligence of our fellow animals. My two little dogs have a sense of fairness as well. They can recognize if one gets a bigger treat than the other and will sulk over the injustice. Their ability to learn and understand so much of human language is also amazing while we tend to learn very little of theirs.
A few years ago a guy did a Dolphin Show.they were trained in 5 languages.at the end of the show Flipper went down the water and splashed 3 Security Guards in water.the Keeper said that in one country a Security Guard had hit him.
@@annmariebuscema6506 I have also seen videos where dolphins recognize themselves in mirrors. When a sticker is placed on the dolphin, it swims over to the underwater mirror and looks at where the sticker is on itself. Saw where a trainer asks a small group of dolphins to make up a new trick and they do it. Evidence they have imaginations and can communicate with each other to be creative. I have also seen videos where in a Japanese bay, each year they slaughter dolphins by the thousands until the bay is nothing but blood, not for food but because they believe the dolphins eat too many fish. Outrage is my only emotion.
@@rhondah1587 - what is it with Asian cultures and animal abuse? Right now a horror show called the Yulin Dog Meat Festival is taking place in China. They torture and skin dogs and cats alive, then cook them in front of a baying sub human crowd. The same sort of thing happens in South Korea. I just don't understand how they can carry out these atrocities against innocent animals.
In many ways, they are smarter than us ; certainly more deserving !
whoa, horses live 25-30 years. that's awesome. amazing animals
bridge4 Even longer. I had one get to 36, with a few others getting into their early 30s

What we do in life,
Echoes in eternity.
@Mister LeCoy Incorrect. It's "echoes in eternity". There are so many clips of the scene on RUclips, worth checking. I did.
What we eat in life. Is an eternity on the belly!
@@purefoldnz3070 That is a fact! Unfortunately.
@Mister LeCoy I checked too. It's "in."
@Diana Mitford I will give it a shot as how I see the meaning. It is like a ripple in a pond. You do a thing here and it's effect spreads to affect a vast amount of area. When you do a kindness the recipient is made better and much more likely to pass a kindness on. When you do a hurtful thing it too is passed on. Where does one small act's affect end?
Russel Crowe seem like a great, genuine laid back guy to be working with.
Russell, one of the best story tellers in the Hollywood
I just love Russell Crowe he is fabulous
I love Russell Crowe. Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, Romper Stomper. Amazing!
This entire interview has cemented him in my mind as someone I'd really love to just have a good long conversation with.
Thank you very much for your lovely words, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
“Gladiator” is one of the greatest movies of all time.. great story screenplay, acting and very emotional ..
Never get tired of watching it till today..
Russell Crowe was awesome in that..😇
I like his another movie called A Beautiful Mind and one more called Cindrella Man wait Robinhood.. Oh yes i like all his movies..
You’re either missing an ‘s’ in that sentence, or something really dramatic happened today.
He need to stick to what he knows, which surely is not horses. He is going to get someone hurt.
Also Master and Commander!
Damn, colbert was very disrespectful with russell, he couldnt let him finish one sentence because “he wanted to say something” throught all the talk.
He is like that with a lot of his guests. I don't watch anymore.
Incorrect.
They’re all the same. I’m surprised someone doesn’t say STFU and let me finish!
After what he has said about horse, don't believe anything he said. He is very ignorant.
Amaury AS I know, can't stand Colbert, only watched to see Russell..like him even more now after watching this about his horse in Gladiator!!
Good guy Russell. Nice presence.
Watching this interview has me in the mind to watch Master and Commander again.. a deeply detailed, fine film and still one of Russell's best acting roles, alongside Paul Bettany's own excellent performance.
I so badly wanted a sequel to that... it was a brilliant flick, and it ended on a quasi suspenseful scenario.
I suppose that she must try to add it up a bit if she is not much closed to Mr. Crowe
Horses DO absolutely know people they work or play with like people...they are sentient beings. High consciousness beings! Horse steward here...
One of the nicest down to earth guys in the industry.
thanks Russell, you are a true start! loved your care for the animals you work with.
Loved Gladiator! Russell Crowe played a Great part! My boys always laugh, hey mom dads watching Gladiator again! Love it!!😂
He’s such a great man.
Thank you very much for your lovely words, I really do appreciate it. Tell me what's your favorite movie of all my movies you have seen so far?
I think I just fell for Russell Crowe. Again!
nice to see RC again...such a charmer and an all round good bloke... (as we say here in Oz)
I loved Russell in man of steel. He nailed his character his coolness and voice. I hope they make a movie staring Russell Crowe as Superman father and he is the main character of the movie.
Dude, THANK YOU!!! I've been saying that for years and I would watch the hell out of a movie with Russell being superman's daddy!
A man that combining strong and weak indeed, hard and soft hearth. Natural with deep voice. Love it.
I always have a great respect to this guy 👍🏻
"Thanks for keeping up."😂😂😂
"What we do in life,
echos in eternity."
Now, I am aware that this line wasn't made up by mr Crowe, but whoever created that line, and made him say it in such an iconic movie, with such beautiful music.. THAT MAN... Deserves everything.
RUSSELL CROWE is just ADORABLE!! And so is GEORGE!!
I can't tell you how heartfelt and sincere I am when I say I'm glad to have had a positive acquaintance with all of you🌻💯👌
Russell looks well, it's great to see him on the show.
Thumbs up Russell & Stephen 👍🇬🇧
Alan Austin why the UK Union Jack for an Australian 🤔
Why interrupt ppl.u ask a question let them answer.
Usually I'd agree with you, but in this case Crowe could wax lyrical for hours if left without interruption, which isn't conducive to a 'good' commercial TV talk show slot. I like Russell Crowe... he's incredibly intelligent and varied in a myriad of ways, but the man could talk the legs off a table on almost any topic given half a chance.
@@alexisclements3167 That kind of puts perspective to it but this interview bombed.
Alexis Clements These shows give guests 5 minutes each to spill their beans

Russell Crowe is one of the great actors of our time.
I’m a fan. Natural, real, props to Russell.
Colbere did ok with him, a few overtalk moments but not bad for American tv where the host uses the guest as a sideman/straight man.
Is John goodman getting heavy again ?
Just kidding, love Russel.
Amooo Russel
Jesus i thought it was john
I thought he gained for a role. Guess not!
😂😂😂😂
He looks like Orson Welles as well
Russel Crowe is honestly amazing and my most favorite actor ever since the Gladiator back in 2000. He's a really talented and unique actor and brings ton of immersion to characters. I think he literally convinces himself that he is that character, what good actors do. I should rewatch the Gladiator some time
Russel is a Great actor, but he has one of the best Voices in show business. I could listen to him read a dictionary.
Love him as an actor and a human being.

His voice is beautiful. Fits with his manly face and body. And ahh that laugh 😍
Nice to see him again.
(For the haters...1. He isn't that big and 2. He is 55. Nobody but Keanu looks the same at 55 as they did at 35.)

you have to give russell crowe credit for even going ON a show like colbert's.
I respect that he spoke to George and told him they won an Oscar together. And, that George already knew! How kind, Russell.
Thanks honey for your kind support and love i appreciate all. Much love.
Yes, the horses deserve their own award, but the only thing that matters to them is to be treated well and have a happy and interesting life. Im sure he was very glad to see his rider again, Russell knows how to ride well!

Russell Crowe played a naval captain Jack Aubrey in the movie Master and Commander ... but looking at his portly figure now, I think he looks like a better captain.
Oh you're right, he was a great Jack Aubrey but I remember thinking he didn't look quite fat enough, at least compared to how he's described in the books. Good observation.
Chris he’s only this weight for a role he is playing.
He's gorgeous!

Hello thank you so much for your love and great support and watching my RUclips videos I'm so grateful
Thank-you Mr. Crowe for talking to George about the award you achieved together... I would like to know more about George because he looks just like the horse that singled out Lochlan and I at the Royal Fair... the horse came right out from the back of the stall and loved us up with the most gentle and intense greeting... Lochlan was on my back in a child carrier and we stood still and greeted the horse in same affectionate and curious manner-I would call it, patient reverence... imagine if the horse was one of George’s friends... or even a horse that knows of the award winning George... the gladiator spirit might have been recognized because I have always been a phenomena of warrior spirit and perhaps the horse noticed something about my child and I because his approach was super touching and I actually let him super close to us... you see, I’m afraid of horses and letting the horse get close to us was a miracle... it was one of the most lovely miracles we had ever experienced... I’ll never forget the utter love that seemed to pour out of the horses’ attitude toward us and his or her attention to us was truly magical. I hope all horses similar to George know how cherished they are and thank-you for chatting with George... by the way... I study synchronicity and Russel was by far the leading actor popping up in many of my synch experiences and experiments... perhaps Russel is true magic... wouldn’t that be amazing! Acknowledging that Russel Crowe is a magic being of phenomena... the awe and delight of these studies and experiences are evidence of something to pay attention too; the reason I pay attention is because I believe and I have witnessed and experienced miraculous healing within these studies and experiences-may George and Russell be celebrated for their performances-GIPW!
Mr Crowe heavy looks like fred flintstone. I love Fred.

Fantastic interview, LSSC! Would love an extended version of it, uncut. He's a brilliant actor, still top notch in my book.

Seems to be mellowing with age. Earlier Russell with the bad temper wouldn't have accepted Stephen interrupting his story and shutting him down with "hold on, I wanna say something" at 2:35
Kimberly G. I must admit, I watch almost every interview and I’ve never heard Stephen say that. I was very surprised and it did make me raise an eyebrow.
@@buffywasright I hope, on reflection, Stephen realizes how rude that was and offers Russell an apology.
Much to do about nothing... Colbert is just getting older, and with age you lose your train of thought... I got the impression Colbert needed to get the question in to keep from forgetting it if the story dragged on to long.
He was clarifying for the audience and his viewers how interesting that was as it had been ten years. He seemed legitimately surprised as well. Perhaps he could have waited to express that afterwards, but the interview was very short, so he undoubtedly wanted to make sure the audience was aware.
Alexander Johnson thank you. Came here to say that. The whole point of chiming in was to make the audience aware of the ten year gap between gladiator and Robin Hood. I thought Robin Hood came out in 04 or some shit, it’s one of the only Ridley Scott films I haven’t seen so I appreciated him saying something.
