    This has just helped me out big time, been struggling to get the 2 speed working properly on my C44KM, this sorted it and it's now working perfectly. Cheers bud 👍

    Very helpful tips! 👍 I've seen people kill lots of servos by not setting it the right way, I'll just share this when I can now 😊

      Yes I've seen lots of people burn out the gear change servo because of it not being set correctly aswel.

    Very good advice 👍 definitely won't adjusting the end points to get this positions

      Yes if your transmitter has EPA then you could adjust accordingly, the austar ax6 doesn't have EPA so the button press for the 3rd channel rotates the servo 90°

    just did an easy cheap mod on D-90, details on your previous video but its basically replace the MN 260 motor+gearbox... swap the 260 out for an RS280. its like jumping from a 130 to 180 motor in a WPL, but both motors are larger to start with. all the extra weight on my D-90 needed the good old Tim Allen MORE POWER treatment. the wheel weighting, metal axle housings, gears, and drive shafts... it's gotten pretty darn heavy!

    • @THYC
      @THYC  4 года назад +1

      Sounds like one hefty rig! Will we be seeing it on your channel anytime soon?

      @@THYC tried film Thursday but had a camera fail. it was with the 260 motor anyway, early Friday morning looked around.. "oh hey", looked at size specs in eBay "this is gonna fit!" and did it.
      in an entirely different project, an over-worked 130 motor pulled so much current the motor leads cooked. swapped in a 180 motor it runs lots stronger and no problems at all with same size JST connectors and wires. this upgrade is possibly similar on that, the longer motor armature and windings may have a higher resistance, but stronger field strength against larger magnets... more muscle from less current. idk how to get hold of MN but they should maybe ditch the 260 motors and drop in 280's instead.

      @@modelnutty6503 I find 16awg wire handles most things.
      That's why I love WPL so much they actually listen and have means of getting in touch, MN are awesome rigs but you cant interact with them the way you can with WPL.
      On the official group they reached out an asked a member to join they're design team ❤

      @@THYC yup, WPL is decent about that, they know my nickname here, have had a few e-mail back and forth with them too. doesn't matter to me who gets a "round tuit" first, the MN 260 gearbox has a 4 mm step in it for the output end specific to the 260 motor, that the 280 motor doesn't have, ditching that step or making it half depth would make a 280 motor fit even easier. no chance of the drive shaft on the output shaft running into/against the end of the 280 motor.
      this isn't something I think about for the C-14/24 because the truck bed battery tray as molded doesn't give clearance for a 260/280 motor diameter, and they're pretty happy with the tan colored B-36 gearbox with a 180 motor in it... but a 280 motor sure could be nice in a 6x6 where there's more friction involved in powering all 3 axles. geared for a top speed of 4 mph (6.4 kph) is really good for trail walking and crawling both...
      bouncing is another category where you want that wheel speed tripled to pop wheelies and handle short jumps too, with a LOT of muscle behind it. the real cage framed "bounce cars" are pretty unique, like monster trucks just shorter height. (basically what I turned my Virhuck V-01 into being).

  • @340jd

    Great video, thank you. You'd need to "centre" the servo before doing this? Thanks

    • @THYC
      @THYC  3 года назад

      Yes make sure it's been centred, just give it some power and it will line itself up

      Was the servo set up at 6oclock disengaged 9oclock engaged.
      If that's off then it can put strain on the servo and they burn up 🤔

    Great tutorial! Any tips to properly setting the servo horn at a perfect 6 o'clock? My closest is slightly left aligned but can never gets a perfect 6 o'clock. This ended up high gear is unable to lock in properly. No issue engaging low gear though.
