Cleaner than the Americans
I miss those days from 40 years ago. The East German girls though probably cheating were fun to watch in both swimming and athletics. Both those sports have lost glamour. I knew the names of all the top female athletes from that era. Now I can't name even one.
Let me help you, Marita Koch, Marlies Gohr, these are the only two names that come to my mind. Cheers.
@Roby Lazarus Dummy, he's talking about not knowing today's athletes!
@@zabaleta66 Dummy?😄😄😄😄
There aren't any top German sprinters and swimmers today because there's no Turinabol!
Dina Asher-Smith.
This one dimensional East German Sport success interpretation is tiring.....as if they were the only ones on drugs, while their opponents were all clean...the US people should think a little outside the box (see Nike Oregon Project, Flo Jo, Carl Lewis, Gattlin, all the Football League etc etc) or the European super fast socker teams
Let's be honest guys!!!
Not many would disagree with you on that score 👍
Juiced or not east Germans athletes were machines...
She was very fortunate that Raelene Boyle was D.Q.'d in first semi-final, which was later proven to be an incorrect D.Q., Boyle was on form and ready to swap her 2 silver from the 68, 72 200meters for a Gold in Montreal. Richter had commented that the girls felt that Raelene was the favorite for the event.
I really admired Raelene but she wouldn't have had a chance, unfortunately!
@zedlacredit Yes, she had the fastest time in the world in the 200 meters, coming into the games. She ran her fastest sea level time in the 100 semi-finals.She didn't get away well when they finally got away (the 4th time), but was in the lead at 40 meters the first time... I am with you... she was ready to go, but luck was not on her side.
DOPER
Yes Americans as well ,as East Germans sad times no doubt it still going on today.
1:02 This is a very young Marlies Göhr beside Bärbel Wöckel, isn't it?!!! I am afraid the final images do not correspond to the race. Wonderful videos. Thank you.
Marlies didn't run 200m at Montreal. The East Germans in this race were Eckert, Stecher and the blonde Bodendorf.
Yes, the final scene for sure belongs to the 4x100m a few days later.
They should test all the frozen samples from the past! Testing is way more advanced now! There be a hell of a lot of gold medals handed back ! Lol
They didn't keep samples back then.
Than all the sprint Olympians... Bob Hayes, Jim Hines, Valeri borzov, hazely Crawford etc. would be disqualified.
Drugs and testing is far more complex than the viewing public remotely imagine. Let me provide a simple example: No-one catches female athletes taking the male hormone testosterone as there is nothing to catch until they fly through the limit allowed for such. Even then most are still allowed to run, long jump etc. A good boost of legal testosterone can potentially be far more effective than taking an illegal substance. But most females are not prepared to look like Godzilla. It's an extremely dangerous area to blandly accuse anyone of drug taking as much of it is legal.
Who do think ?!!
Who do yo think ?!!
@olimpsportas Raelene Boyle was strong but not strong enough… she didn’t improve her form so dramatically from the previous games as the East German girls did
Who? Americans?
i wishd im finnish bärbel vöckel
@zedlacredit Sorry, I don’t think so… Bärbel as all GDR athletes and especially young rising new generation female athletes was too much motivated to not to lose her Olympic final, especially not to lose against Western athletes... check over all athletics results at 1976 Olympics; East German girls won 9 finals from 14! They won olympic medals in all event except shot put event! Mostly of the winners were just over or even under 20 years old (the only exception was 30 years old Ruth Fuchs)
sure, americans
Drugs cheat
Everyone in Olympia is, who wins a medal. Everyone! 😂😂
Drugs, drugs, and more drugs for Barbel. It's all in the East German files.
Proofs, proofs... where?
@@antisvin76 within the miles and miles of paperwork collected by the Stasi..
@@Josey_Wales what about miles and miles from CIA and Mi-6? About Lance Armstrong and Mo Farrah for example?
@@antisvin76 Armstrong is guilty but I don't seem to understand how that correlates with state funded doping. I was simply answering your question because you are trying to play stupid about the HUGE East German doping scandal. A lot of athletes involved, knowingly and unknowingly have admitted and some were in even busted in the past. Marlies Gohr tested positive for androgenic in 1975 and Ilona Slupianek tested positive for anabolics in 77. Go be disingenuous somewhere else, goof.
@@Josey_Wales only two? May be, only two, who was catched? May be there are actually dozens of them? Hundreds? Thousands?
Two Words DRUG CHEAT!!!
One word...JEALOUS
American?
As well americans and carrebeans
