Heads up, I tried your Command+F feature on wikipedia, I searched the Roman Empire, and asked "What are some of the biggest takeaways here?" It read 9% of the page due to it being so much content (understandable), but, the response on the ask was so long, it was glitching out when I tried to scroll up. So I couldn't really use the feature in this instance.
Any way to put this stuff in local storage? Graphics card companies haven't been adding ai cores to everything for no reason, n all
It's not available when i type MAX. Has the limit for users been reached? And will it be opened again?
Yeah, I wish we could have the option to use a local model to power these functionalities. Mac nowadays, with Apple silicon, can handle small models and simple tasks such as renaming the tabs. I'm really looking forward to this functionality.@@alexmartinelli6231

I love that Abby becomes more and more Transatlantic as the QVC segment goes on.
Non-native speaker here, what does this mean?
the transatlantic accent or mid-atlantic accent is a a dialect of English most commonly associated with the American upper class and the entertainment industry from the late 1800s and early 1900s. An example would be President Franklin D Roosevelt's "Fear Itself" speech. Funny enough, Darth Vader actually uses it also, in the original Star Wars movies.@@42escapehatch
@@42escapehatch Great question! It's a learned (not natural) accent that was popular with high society and Hollywood in the US in the early 1900's. It sounds like a mix of British English and American English, or rather an American trying to sound more British without doing a British accent. If you watch some older black and white American movies you'll hear it (like movies with Katharine Hepbern for example).
Today it's often imitated or used to add an "over the top" persona to a character, like over-acting but not quite.

This is the first implementation of AI that actually love and find useful for a daily, widespread use. I love the "we took something everyone uses everyday and made it a bit more intelligent". I don't think it's only about "saving a few minutes a day" but much more than that - a lot of the micro-work we do in searching, reading, processing information and so on is actually tiring in large amounts. These small implementations is like a calculator - it doesn't save a lot of time but a lot of brainwork and CPU. So thanks a lot for that.
Whenever I explain AI to newcomers I always compare it to the calculator. Using a calculator (or spreadsheets) doesn't mean you can't do simple sums, but it makes things so much faster. It's an assistive aid that allows domain experts and the general consumer to move faster.
I agree it's nice that TBC have thought about high-frequency actions you take in your browser and tried to speed up those repeated actions. They're not going for investor-wowwing big splash features that market well but don't necessarily give a big boost to the UX, they've gone with the user-focused approach.
You guys have some clever marketing. You're also putting on a clinic regarding customer communication. Nice work.

crazy how you always manage to keep coming with all these insanely good updates. i switched to arc from chrome since may and it was one of my best decisions ever made. i like this community-based feeling when company including ceo actually hears you and cares about the product. kudos to you guys, please never stop!
Those are some really great features. I never thought it can be done in this way but it's really amazing.

I remember tweeting "I'd pay someone to organise my downloads folder" around 2009, lo and be hold, we have it for free now thanks to ARC. THANK YOU! also, the 5 second preview is pretty clever on reddit links, it really would save time in the long run. i'm glad you guys jumped in the train in a very Arc way!

I'm absolutely enthralled by the fantastic features you introduced, and I'm deeply impressed by your brilliant perspective and mentality. I love everything about the browser company. Sending all the support and love your way! ya'll are killing it. Would love to hear a bit more about the moral grayness of adding AI to our daily workflow (i.e. asking if the person in the article is in the right or not). Just a little issue that I can see rearing its head in the future.
Yeah I feel that was not a great demo of the feature. Asking an LLM for its moral judgement is very inadvisable. LLMs don't feel the impact of their own words and don't face the consequences of your actions so they feel no incentive to get it "right". Don't make judgements based on an AI summary.

It blows my mind that Arc isn't used more than it is. The continuous user-focused innovation is incredible, and the product is just miles and miles ahead of any other browser. Another amazing update!
ikr, even some devs i've shared it with go back to chrome or safari coz they just don't get it. i've found that it needs you to be open to new (and improved) concepts because we're all used to the traditional lackluster browser.
i don't really blame them, it took me a week to truly love it

honestly don't think ill use most of these but, and i can't stress this enough, the page summary and 5 second preview features are the greatest things to happen to web browsing since arc's initial release. i'm pumped for what they have in stock

Well I'm all about getting a smarter browser. I loved these AI features, and I really appreciate the time and effort you guys put into implementing them. I think that making a simple and intuitive web browser is not about stripping it of features, and ignoring AI tools - that's backwards movement. A great browser is the one that actually listens to the community and tries to change things up from time to time. Please don't stop implementing new features!

Yeah same, but chat gpt also seems to be having issues atm as well (specifically the search the web one) so I wonder if its a problem with arc or on openai's end

It's nice to read about the data safety of those AI features of Arc Max. If I get it right, information is either shared with OpenAI or Anthropic, but only necessary data, that isn't linked to the person, right? However, will I connect to those third parties directly, or will such data be tunneled through the Arc servers without being stored? Although tunneling data through Arc would give you more control over my data, you don't store it and I would have to trust only one party, instead of multiples. Not tunneling my data through your servers would allow OpenAI and Anthropic to create a personal profile from my pinned tabs or visited websites. I prefer my data to be tunneled through your server, so that OpenAI and Anthropic cannot make user profiles of individuals, just the entire Arc community. Could you please give some clearance about this?
