    As an actual truck driver, it’s nice for people to see how much room trucks need.

    Without the rear axle steering mod. There are station's you may get into, but not out of. If and when you have one of those times. Drop the trailer out side the station on the street. Drive the tractor in to get fuel. And then go back and hook on to your trailer.
    Same thing goes when you get to an area, that your not able to determined EXACTLY where to park the trailer. Unhook from it, drive in to the area, do some research, work out your set up. Rehook to the trailer, and all's good.

      That's what I do . I've gotten into way to many jams 😂 I also sometimes disconnect my trailer and park my cab tight to the rear doors of the trailer before resting just because 😊

      If you're doing a non-escorted haul, it's a massive pain in the ass if you need to stop for fuel some stations its near impossible to pull up to the pump with the smaller stations you will get hung up on crap. Not so bad for the larger truck stops.

      If I have a long load I just unhook it ouside my base when I want to rest.When I wake up after a sleep the game AI puts the trailer INSIDE the compound when you sleep.I think this happens when you leave the trailer on a clearway.

    Excellent tutorial, I use the same techniques, and have made 1.5 mill in 3 months, mostly heavy haul. If your low on fuel and find a really tight station, I unusually just unhook.

      The ai is your biggest threat they do not back off from corners and will T bone you and more than likely if you get a fine it's because of them. Clipping them on a sharp corner is the most common cause.

    there is a steerable lowboy axle mod available. I wouldn't truck without it. It only works on ATS trailer's.

    I’ve been doing heavy hauls since I started the game, but I find myself not making all my deliveries on time as I’m doing heavy haul and long haul at the same time. It seems like I have to stop and rest or get fuel too often, my heavy haul truck however has a 250gal tank.

      fuel and sleep before your next load make sure what truck you have has the power to run at least the speed limit on average you should have 5-10 hours left At the end of your run if you do that otherwise use a mod motor to get your power and speed up which i do suggest as the base game motors are severely lacking as well as they sound like crap

      More so with what I call the "Sandpoint Stumper" - going up the logging road hill with a 119k pound load, BARELY possible with even a 8x6 WS49x SBA 7 speed (18 speed actually would be worse here since it doesn't shift right away). I use the Super Engines mod and can get up using the same load at 20mph with 2500hp (luckliy, that only costs as much as the 600hp ones).
      Even Medford is possible (US 199 between Crecent City and Grants Pass logging road) with a good enough run only using a 600hp 4x2 7 speed with the same load.

      when ever I do heavy hauls my truck won't pass 65mph, can you tell me whats the issue is?

    • @Nemofishman
      @Nemofishman Год назад

      Turn off the truck limiter in settings.
      I just did a 71k load of movie equipment and could get to 105mph, only one minor brush with a road item for a 800 mile trip.

      @@Nemofishman I only use the kenworth W900 and peterbilt 379 for heavy haul because they have the best engine upgrade options. I can usually do heavy equipment hauls over 1,400 miles and average around 65 to 70 mph and up to 90 on a good downhill.

    I'm currently having trouble trying to rest. I'm carrying a load of three vehicles, and when I enter the sleep area it doesn't give me the option.

    • @skalover98
      @skalover98 2 года назад +1

      ATS can be a bit touchy depending on length, and there are some spots that are marked as rest areas but don't actually work. You can try disconnecting from your trailer, sometimes I will drop my trailer in some corner of a truckstop then find somewhere to park the truck and rest, I would try that.

      @@skalover98 I just went back into the game after a period of not having time to play it. I looked for the key which was T, and released myself from my load. I was then able to rest and re-connect. I had no idea you could do that. I appreciate it.

      As a prior OTR with more than 2 million miles behind me. I play as realistic as the algorithum will allow. Meaning because I utilize a tractor with a sleeper, not a day tractor. Using console commands and a 14 hour work day. I sleep where ever I happen to be every 14 hours. Regardess of what those 14 hours consisted of. After getting under a load, I also route myself. The games routing is a bit or can be a bit wacky. In all my year's of trucking. I learned there's a fast way, and a quick way, which are not always the same way. For instance, the game will route you off the freeway, becasue it is actually shorter than the freeway. But having to deal with traffic and turns. Staying on the freeway is faster. Routing freeway routes rather than highway routes can add a few additional miles. But the time it saves doing such is considerably more effective; Time is money!

      @@wmgthilgen I appreciate that, and yes, it's a pain suddenly slowing down and then hitting a light, then making a tight turn. I will consider this, I'm currently doing a 16 hr quick run for 50k.

    How about undocking the trailer on the road, then gassing up, then going back for the trailer or is that too many steps 😂😅😂

    On a 6x4 the second axle is only powered when you engage the shaft going to it. It's not always powered. Differential lock engages it. Working much like 4-wheel drive does on a pickup truck but not like AWD. Not all axles are powered at all times. The problem with the game is it over emphasis transmission retarders. On most modern trucks and their transmissions, they do not come with them anymore even the ones meant for heavy cargo. Brother works as a mechanic for a Freightliner dealership which also works on non Dimler Benz trucks. The DT series does not common with retarders. The VX and OVX series are the heavy hauling DT transmissions. Same goes for just about all Eaton and transmissions commonly used by truckers. As it goes for differential ratios. Higher the number the harder it pulls but top speed is lower, lower the number the higher top speed but effects how well the truck will climb hills with heavy cargo.
