    As a girl who loves to wear her crocheted tops but never could because her breasts were too big to fit in any of the pattern tutorials on youtube (I'm terrible at altering patterns, I never fail to mess'em up somehow), this video is a godsend. Thank you!

    I just made this bralette and it is so cute! I couldn't be happier with it. Thank you so much for the tutorial and clear instructions! This only took a few hours to make. I also appreciated how you demonstrated the pattern, but also informed where we could change things up and be creative. For the band, I ended up doing a few rounds of 2 sc rows followed by 1 dc row and it's adorable. Thanks so much!

    A good rule of thumb for making the cups is to start with a chain that goes approximately halfway up your breast, to the fullest point. The top of your first chain is going to wind up being the center of the cup ☺

      what if we have bigger breasts that kind of sag down? should we hold them up and measure that way? or measure just how they sit? sorry im just curious!!!

    • @victoriakathleen01
      @victoriakathleen01 3 года назад +3

      @@jamieh8836 that's what I did! If you have a bra or bathing suit that fits well, you could use that as a tool to help measure. Otherwise, you can hold your breast up with your hand so it's in the same position as it might be in a bra :)

    Thank you so much for this! I'm a 38 A but all of the other tutorials never covered all of the boobage I wanted and I think this will work better
    Edit: I'm working on it now and this is fantastic! This is way easier than a lot of the other videos on crochet cups and I realized I've been single crocheting wrong until now! This is super beginner friendly (I can barely make a straight line) and I used a safety pin as a stitch marker.

    I always have a hard time making D cups too because I’m not one either. I usually do half double crochets to make the bralette and tend to underestimate how many stitches I need. I’m making a bralette for someone who is a 32d and made about 11 rows of hdc and I’m like is this enough 😅 but I truly appreciate your tutorial and will try this pattern out for the next bralette I make have another size D client, so thank you 😊

      D cups are so hard to make when you’re not actually a d cup. When I was making it for my sister in law I had no idea when to stop. It got so big I thought it couldn’t be right. I literally put it up to my face and said how the heck can this be as big as my face 😹😹😹 turns out it actually fit her! I couldn’t believe it lol

I’m always unsure like omg this doesn’t look like it’ll fit and get discouraged until they actually get the item and try it on and they say it fits. I’ve been looking everywhere for charts about crochet cup sizes and finally found one that seems good enough for me to use.

    This tutorial is awesome I noticed you're getting some squeaking in the crochet hook there's a funny but helpful tip if you have the squeaking and your hair is not tied up where you pull it out go ahead and run your crochet hook over the scalp. Yes, this works even if you just washed your hair! If you don't want to run it through your skull try on the sides of the nose! Weird but eh, I embrace my wierdness

      Hello! In this video I was using the caron simply soft yarn but I do prefer the Caron’s one pound yarn when I make this. I haven’t made a bra with cotton yarn but you can definitely use it! If you do use cotton yarn just make sure the weight size is a 4 or 5

    I followed this step by step but found that the bottom edge of the cup was rounded and not flat. I skipped going into the fist stitch on every new row , would this be why it started rounded up so much? Also, love the video!

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  3 года назад

      There’s actually a couple of reasons it can curve. I find that if I crochet too tight it curves the bottom so I usually will stretch the cup so it’s a little more straight. Also I think it might have to do with the top part of the cup and increasing into the right stitches. When I make my cup I do skip the first stitch (where the chain is) because I count the chain as a stitch. I know some people do go into that stitch (chain) but I’m not sure how that will turn out because I haven’t tried it. Also I think when you make a larger cup it will naturally curve a little bit.
      Thank you! 😸🧶

    Why should I skip the first stitch when starting a new row? I'm kinda confused because in every top crocheting video they are like GO INTO THE VERY FIRST STICH OR YOU ARE GOING TO MESS UP. Why is it different here?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад

      Hello! When I started crocheting I was always taught to skip the first stitch. So funny you asked this but I recently found this tutorial that says to crochet into the first stitch so you can get a more even edge. In my video when I skip the stitch I end up crocheting into the turning chain. When you crochet into the first stitch you skip the turning chain (this is what the tutorial says from the video I watched). So both methods will give you the same number of stitches in the row but I haven’t tried the other method yet so I can’t say how it will turn out if you did that when you’re making this bra.

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад

      Just curious, when you follow someone else’s video and you crochet into the first stitch do you skip the turning chain at the end?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  5 лет назад

      Hi! My advice would be to make sure when you chain one at the edge you need to crochet into the second and not the first stitch. Also I personally like to stretch my work to make sure it’s also straight

    Love this video I’m making mine right now and the bottom of my cup is curving is that normal or should I restart?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад

      It depends on how many more rows you need left. My cup curves but usually not enough for it to be a big deal. If you feel like it’s curving to the point where you think you’d have an issue later on you may want to restart! In my experience I find that mines curves because my chain wasn’t long enough. Another tip I think might work out is if you chain 2 instead of one at the bottom. I hope those tips help!

    So i just learned how to crochet like an hour ago && I tried doing this but your stitches at 6:15 are much bigger than mine I have this like tiny piece of fabric. But I’m gonna try again once I get more experience !

      Hi Gabby!
      When I first started crocheting my stitches use to be so tight and tiny. Everyone in the crochet circle I go to was always surprised at how it turned out when my hook was large. As time goes on I started to loosen up a bit but everyone always told me it was fine if my stitches were smaller! I hope when you crochet again the outcome is beautiful. Thank you for watching 😸😸

      @gabb8890 5 лет назад

      Thank you! My stitches are looking a lot neater today but I want to make a small so I started with 11 and as I’m doing it I feel like it’s going to be so TINY it’s like 2 inches long so far and this time I’m up to 9:56 of the video :/

    Great video! I have one question tho because i'm getting ready to make this. How did you know when to stop? like how do will i know if it's the right size? I'm a B cup myself so IDK how big a D cup would look :( Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!!

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад +1

      Hello! So I honestly had to guess but my friend gave me a tip saying I should just go to any store and measure the size of a D cup 😹. I actually didn’t do that because i was lazy so what I ended up doing was measuring it to one of my old Victoria’s Secret bra. I have one that’s a c cup plus it was a push up bra so I made sure to measure it up against that. Also since my bra was a c cup I think I made the crochet bra almost an inch bigger. It also depends on how much coverage the person wants. The first time I made one my friend she liked it but the second one she wanted more coverage so I added more rows. I hope that all made sense 😹

      I think you can also find the inches of a d cup on google but my lazy girl method is to measure it up against a bra you already have. I hope this helps!

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад

      I found this website that gives measurements but I find that depending on the company not every size fits the same but they have a lot of sizing options

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад

      Omg, sorry for the mass amount of comments I’m leaving you lol but depending on preference the d cup I made was around 10-11 inches measuring it from the bottom. The link I also sent mentions that 7-8 inches is around a c/d cup. So if you want to be on the safe side I’d go for 11/12 inches when you make it just in case

    Great tutorial! Thanks! I'm having trouble with mine curling in on itself. What am doing wrong?

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  4 года назад +1

      Hi! 👋 so there could be a couple reasons for that. Most times curling happens because the original chain was too short. Some people have commented saying to get the perfect fit you should chain the length from your under boob to the nipple. I haven’t tried that myself but people have updated me saying it worked out. Another reason could be the yarn you are using. I think this top works better with thicker yarn so anything with the weight of 4 or 5. If those arent the reason it could be because you are crocheting too tight(this happens to me sometimes). If you do crochet tight I suggest a bigger hook like a 5.5

    Awesome turorial, Ive been looking for a video like this for oh so long. Question; how many chains will i have to chain for a C-cup? Like a 36C. Thanks😊✔️🎀👌🏽👍🏽

    • @JacquelinesLife
      @JacquelinesLife  6 лет назад +2

      Hello! I usually chain about 12 but if you want something more accurate to your body i had someone comment
      "When in doubt about the size of cup. Measure from bottom of breast to the nipple. This will give you the inches for your beginning chain."
      and i think thats a little more accurate but so far a chain of 12 has worked for me. I hope that helps! :)
