I have seen a trend to go to lower price bourbons, I think bourbon distillers have finally gotten to greedy and are forcing people out of the higher priced market bourbons in my opinion
I know that's the case I am facing personally right now, a lot of these high-priced bourbons just aren't worth it to me. I don't want to say too much because I'm planning on doing a rant video about that very subject... I feel the same way!
Speaking strictly for myself, I have stopped buying any bottle that costs more than $70. Spending more than that just isn't worth it to me anymore. There's plenty of great stuff in the $30-$70 range...tons.
In the previous decade, when JB Black was an 8 yr, it used to be one of a handful of bottles in my regular rotation... back before I built my shelves and started "collecting". I'm still waiting to see the new 7yr appear on the store shelves down here, but I look forward to trying it. I've been leaning more and more into lower priced bottles this year, and I'm hoping this will be a new one to add to the line-up. Reviews seems mixed, but good overall.
I am a bit torn between extra age and double oak. I had both in past its getting really warm here in Spain and i tend to lean towards more crisp light bourbons yet with fruity flavour. Heavy hitters at 100 proof are killers in our weather and my shelfs are fully stock up with turkey, four roses SiB, bakers, knob creek etc I had a shot of jim beam white label went down great with heat outside (already in my basket for mixers) Which one would you recommend more: Double oak or black extra age 🤔
I'm on my 2nd bottle of this. I wouldn't have bought the 2nd had I not enjoyed the first. (750 ml. $20.00)
