@ReligiousStudies-ed9esWhen Allah tells the people of the book to judge by it, Christians like you tend to forget the next verse where Allah tells you *how* to judge by it.
"We have revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ this Book with the truth, as a *confirmation of previous Scriptures* and *a supreme authority* on them. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and *do not follow their desires* over *the truth that has come to you."*
      5:48
So "what Allah has revealed within" (5:47) is what aligns with the Quran and the rest is not. The people of the Book should judge by the remnants of what was revealed to Jesus and Moses, disregarding the rest.

They said to him: “Son of David.” He said to them: “How then does David in the spirit call him Lord? Saying: The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. "Ummah" means a group of people who have a common believe. We use the expressions like "One man Army" or "Last man Standing" so at the time of Prophet Abrahim PBUH he was SOLE true believer in the whole world thats why Allah SWT calling him "Ummah" like saying he was "One man Ummah". In next Ayah Allah SWT tells us that HE brought Abrahim PBUH to "Sirat e Mustaqeem" meaning true believe in Allah SWT.
Great discussion. May Allah SWT bless you both.

      @AkanBenDja
Why? ... A "GROUP" means a few hundreds to a few million or a few billions. The Prophets like NUH, HUD, SALEH and SHOAIB and even ABRAHIM PBUTA, only a handful people accepted them in the begining and later their UMMAH may multiply but the common thing among them was ONE BELIEVE whether they were in hundreds or millions.

    • @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc
      @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc 6 месяцев назад

      @AkanBenDja
In Quran the word "اُ مّـةٌ" is always used with the reference of a group of people linked to Religion and Believe. There are many words evolved from same root but its not necessary that they all must linked with each other.
The Prophets i mentioned above, not 100% of their nations rejected them. Some believed in them, and that first group and their coming generations were a "اُ مّـةٌ" until they deviated from THE TRUE BELIEVE.
In Quran every "اُ مّـةٌ" has a designated time and it ends when ever Allah SWT will.
The various generations in history with different time frame of TRUE BELIEVERS "اُ مّـةٌ" who may followed seperate Prophets are called "مِلَّـةٌ " in Quran.
Quran has many different words for geneological and geographical identities. And in my humble opinion bloodline has nothing to do with the word "اُ مّـةٌ".
      Jazak Allah Kher

    • @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc
      @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc 6 месяцев назад +1

      @AkanBenDja
You cannot understand this word "اُ مّـةٌ" without THEOLOGY because theology is linked with it. In this video this word discussed with reference of QURAN and i am trying to explain it in context of Quran but you are sharing with me references of Wickipedia, Linguistics and Dictionaries. You can never understand this word without its context in QURAN. Words may have different meaning out of Quran but here i am just discussing and explaining it with the reference of QURAN.

The word "قرن" can mean HORN but it never used in this meaning as "horn" in Quran. If you say linguistically it can mean horn i would say YES but if you apply that meaning in Quran it would not be correct. You need to see meaning of each word of Quran in context of Quran to get correct understanding. This is something very deep and i pray Allah SWT help you to understand this difference. Any way keep believing what you think is correct.
      Jazak Allah Kher

    • @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc
      @AbdulJabbar-cw6fc 6 месяцев назад

@AkanBenDja This is what i am saying you are not getting my point. Most of the Arabic words have multiple meanings and if we apply any meaning that is different from overall Quranic context there are high chances we can never get the correct understanding of Quran.
Hope i made my point clear now.

    Salaam Brother Paul
Could you get a scholar to look into in depth at the issue which child of Abraham was about to be Sacrificed
because the evangelical christians and Jews say it was Issac.
Especially the christians link father sacrificing his son on mount moriah to
Jesus being crucified on mount moriah (jerusalem).
However we know from quran and hadees that it was Ishmael and the location is near Mecca. ie The test of Ibrahim takes place before the birth of Issac. Ibrahim was extremely old possibly in his late nineties. What a great test to be asked to sacrifice your only son at that age.
Even according to the old testament Abraham is Ninety Nine years old when Issac birth is announced and Abraham was 86? When Ishmael is born. So ishmael is about 14 years older than Issac.
Please look into this very important topic as it is linked to the crucifiction and modern israel claim to the palestinian land.
This issue is part of the Abrahamic covenant.
The attempted sacrifice if Ishmael is part of the Hajj.

    • @louay.fatoohi

There is much to say about what "Abraham" may or may not mean, with much of it being highly speculative. My focus was not to speculate on the meaning but to show how the Bible's claim that the etymology of the name is Hebrew is incorrect, that Abraham did not have a change of name according to the Qur'an, that the Qur'an has a subtle, significant reference to the name, and to contrast the meaning of the name in the Bible with what and the Qur'an says about Abraham.

All these covenants of God with Abraham is based on the present day Torah believed to be written by Moses.
But the original Torah of Moses was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar (587 BC) says prophet Jeremiah in Lamentation (2:9-10)
One of the Jewish Apocrypha known as Edras 2 (14) confirmed that the Torah of Moses was destroyed.

Abraham peace be upon him , The Friend of God & The Father of The Prophets.
And who is better in faith than those who ˹fully˺ submit themselves to Allah, do good, and follow the Way of Abraham, the upright? Allah chose Abraham as a close friend.
      -Surah An-Nisāʾ, Ayah 125
And who would reject the faith of Abraham except a fool! We certainly chose him in this life, and in the Hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.
      -Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 130
˹Remember˺ when Abraham was tested by his Lord with ˹certain˺ commandments, which he fulfilled. Allah said, “I will certainly make you into a role model for the people.” Abraham asked, “What about my offspring?” Allah replied, “My covenant is not extended to the wrongdoers.”
      -Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 124
Do you claim that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants were all Jews or Christians?” Say, “Who is more knowledgeable: you or Allah?” Who does more wrong than those who hide the testimony they received from Allah? And Allah is never unaware of what you do.
      -Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 140
The Jews and Christians each say, “Follow our faith to be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “No! We follow the faith of Abraham, the upright-who was not a polytheist.”
      -Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 135
Say, ˹O believers,˺ “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants; and what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them. And to Allah we all submit.”
      -Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 136
O People of the Book! Why do you argue about Abraham, while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until long after him? Do you not understand?
      -Surah Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 65
Here you are! You disputed about what you have ˹little˺ knowledge of, but why do you now argue about what you have no knowledge of? Allah knows and you do not know.
      -Surah Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 66
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian; he submitted in all uprightness and was not a polytheist.
      -Surah Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 67
Indeed, those who have the best claim to Abraham are his followers, this Prophet, and the believers. And Allah is the Guardian of those who believe.
      -Surah Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 68
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Allah has declared the truth. So follow the Way of Abraham, the upright-who was not a polytheist.”
      -Surah Āli-ʿImrān, Ayah 95
      “Peace be upon Abraham.”

Why does Louay Fatoohi continue to misrepresent the Bible? He quotes covenant passages from Genesis and concludes it is ethnocentric and inconsistent with the rest of the Bible. But he only partially quotes the verses. Here is the main covenant statements.
Gen 12:1 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you.
Gen 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
Gen 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Gen 22:17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,
Gen 22:18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
Notice that God's covenant with Abraham (and Israel) is for the purpose of the nations being blessed. Israel is a priestly nation, Exodus 19:5-6. There is no inconsistency here at all. All this proves is that you do not learn about Christianity from Muslims. Louay Fatoohi consistently misrepresents the Bible.
Regarding Paul's use of Jeremiah 8:8.
    1. What about the good scribes? Was Baruch a lying scribe? Did he corrupt the Torah 36:4&26? Later Jeremiah commands them to follow the Torah 26:4 so they still have it.
    2. What the verse means is actually not straight forward. It can refer to the written teaching which explains the law like we see in Isaiah 29 and Matthew 15. There are plenty of lying teachers in Islam who pens have corrupted the teaching of the Qur’an.
This video is poor scholarship and proves again that you do not learn about Christianity from Muslims.

Gen 21:14, "So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder along with the child, and sent her away."
My question is how old is Ishmael at that she can put him on her shoulder. I read quite a few Bible with the same thing, placed the child on her shoulder. In fact in one the Bible said that she carried him on her back.
But according to the Bible Abraham sent Hagar away after the weaned ceremony. That will put Ishmael at the age 16 years old. For sure no woman can carried a 16 years old young man either on her shoulder or her back.
This is because according to Islam Ishmael was a young child or even a baby when Abraham took them to the desert. Most stories in the Bible was changed by the Jews. Gen 21:15 thru Gen 21:20 implying that Ishmael was a very young child not a young man.
Gen 22:1, "After these things God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2, He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering...."
What puzzled me is that, if God already seal his covenant with Abraham why God still want to test him by killing Isaac. Why didn't Abraham make a protest to God because God told him that Isaac will have a lot of offspring and now God want him to slaughter Isaac?
Is God a liar by saying "your only son Isaac" which in the previous verses he refer Ishmael as Abraham son. Unless in reality, this happened before Isaac was born, when God seal the covenant between God and Abraham and the circumcision was the seal of the covenant and Ishmael was 13 years old and Isaac was not born yet.

@AkanBenDjaAccording to the Quran it's clear it was Ishmael , the birth of Isaac mentioned after the event took place , Abraham passed the test & God reward him with another righteous son , Isaac. (Peace be upon them all)
My Lord! Bless me with righteous offspring.”
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 100
So We gave him good news of a forbearing son. (This is Ishmael)
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 101
Then when the boy reached the age to work with him, Abraham said, “O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I ˹must˺ sacrifice you. So tell me what you think.” He replied, “O MY DEAR FATHER! DO AS YOU ARE COMMANDED. ALLAH WILLING, YOU WILL FIND ME STEADFAST.”
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 102
Then when they submitted ˹to Allah’s Will˺, and Abraham laid him on the side of his forehead ˹for sacrifice˺,
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 103
We called out to him, “O Abraham!
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 104
You have already fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, this is how We reward the good-doers.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 105
That was truly a revealing test.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 106
And We ransomed his son with a great sacrifice, (a lamb)
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 107
and blessed Abraham ˹with honourable mention˺ among later generations:
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 108
      “Peace be upon Abraham.”
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 109
This is how We reward the good-doers.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 110
He was truly one of Our faithful servants.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 111
We ˹later˺ gave him good news of Isaac-a prophet, and one of the righteous.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 112
We blessed him (Abraham/Ishmael) and Isaac as well. Some of their descendants did good, while others clearly wronged themselves.
      -Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, Ayah 113
      Now consider this verse :
And mention in the Book ˹O Prophet, the story of˺ Ishmael. HE WAS TRULY A MAN OF HIS WORD, and was a messenger and a prophet.
      -Surah Maryam, Ayah 54
But who cares , Islam is not a tribal religion.

About etymology, many things to say, but one important : 32:7 Moses is not an active participle, but a passive one in hebrew and arabic Musaa, cause its marks the O or U. And the hebrew root is the arabic أسى ie to assist, to save, thus Moses (as) saved by the waters or "from", according to anciant traditions. And I don't follow the jews and christians speculations about Abram and Abraham name : the A means the first, and etyma BR means Transmit (ie tradition), thus it's not about a father, Abraham became the Transmittor, because he will have many following him. The H he recieved in his name, it's the H of Alah, Eloh, Ilah, Allah, the Ideation arrchetyp, Him, the ghayb pronoun and God.

Israel is a People made of a mixed Multitude, they are god's people anyone can join them.
The repetition of saying the Torah is ethno-centric is a complete misunderstanding of the reality.
To a degree Jeremiah is critical but of the Pharisees, they found the Moses scroll in the temple before Jeremiah said this, the scroll had been lost they found it again, that is what caused Jeremiah to say they have corrupted the scriptures.
