There are similarities and differences between the story of Abraham in the Bible and its counterpart in the Qur’an. One difference is that the Bible claims that Abraham left the Holy Land temporarily for Egypt, whereas the Qur’an says he went to Arabia. The account in Genesis 12 shows Abraham behaving immorally, which is inconsistent with the excellent character of the Patriarch in the Bible. Genesis 20 contains a second, contradictory account of the same narrative. The Qur’an, on the other hand, offers an alternative account that is completely consistent with the fine character of this great prophet. The differences between the Biblical and Qur’anic accounts are significant and have clear implications for the credibility and reliability of the two competing accounts.

We don't need to ask the question on if Abraham was in arabia or not. Because, this verse of the Qur'an indicates us that Jews and Christians don't have all information on Abraham (pbuh) from the books they have in their hands (meening Thora and Gospel) :
3:65 O People of the Scripture, why do you argue about Abraham while the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Then will you not reason?
So for me, I believe that Abraham was in arabia because the evidence is in the Qur'an.

There is a video here on RUclips whereby Avi Lipkin a Jewish man explains
about Jewish praying tradition and history of how Moses led his follower from Pharoah slavery
from Egypt across the red sea towards Arabia land.
Hag in Hebrew (Hajj in Arabaic) means a holiday or going around in circle.
Jethro (Moses Father In-Law) the high priest of Midian is believed to be High Priest of Kaa'ba in Mecca, The High Priest of the Black Stone.
From this video, we also know that the black stone was there since the time of Abraham
and was taken care by their family generations to generations because Jethro was the descendant of Abraham's first son Ishmael.

Any contradiction and immorality should be found in the religious text of the region in which Abraham was called out of "plain of Shinnar" "Babylon" "Ur". Naturally Abraham shouldn't be worshipping as the people Ur, otherwise God wouldn't of called him out of it. Let's look at the anthropological and Archeological evidence shall we. Here's the cunniform religious clay tablets of the region. "The stars of the heavens appeared above me,
like a rock from the sky one fell down before me.
"'The land of Uruk was standing around it,
[the land was gathered] about it.
A crowd [was milling about] before it,
[the menfolk were] thronging around it.
'''[Like a babe-in]-arms they were kissing its feet,
like a wife [I loved it,] caressed and embraced it-" Epic of Gilgamesh
"Thus with these fifty did the high gods give his fifty names, Granting him preeminence; may they always be honored! And might the elder enlighten the younger concerning them May men of wisdom and instruction talk among themselves, So the father might recall them, and pass them on to his son And may both the shepherd and the herdsman be amenable, That he not forget the wise counselor of the gods, Marduk"- Enuma Elish

The new book "Abraham Fulfilled" shows how the Book of Jubilees describes the location to which Hajar RA migrated and gave birth to Ismael PBUH. The description perfectly fits the Hijaz region. I am not sure whether the Book of Jubilees indicates that Ibrahim PBUH went there too.
There is a Hadith about the only three lies Ibrahim PBUH ever told, one of which was that Sarah RA is his sister (the Biblical idea that she is actually his half-sister does not exist in the Hadith, which also does not indicate that the Biblical story is true in its entirety).

I would agree, the Bible implies he took Hagar to the Aravah. Though it’s unlikely he took her to modern day Arabia. There was a trade route that went down the western part of Arabia to Sa’ana and Sa’aba.
“He said: "The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones, from his right hand went a fiery law for them." Paran was the place were Hagar settled with her son, it’s in the trade route heading south also called Tenma or Yemen.

    DISCUSSION SUMMARY
    Introduction and Context
The Bible and the Quran have similarities and differences in their accounts of Abraham, including his travels, with the Bible claiming he went to Egypt and the Quran stating he went to Arabia 01:08.
The biblical account in Genesis 20 contains a contradictory narrative of Abraham's behavior, which is inconsistent with his character in the Bible 01:30.
The Quran offers an alternative account that is consistent with Abraham's character, highlighting the differences in credibility and reliability between the two accounts 01:48.
When discussing historical figures like Abraham, it's essential to consider the concept of the "Unseen" (al-Ghaib), which refers to events or information that are not accessible to humans, including past events 05:10.
Believers rely on scripture and their faith in the Unseen, rather than empirical evidence, to understand historical events and the actions of prophets like Abraham 04:52.
The discussion aims to weigh the credibility of the Quranic and biblical accounts of Abraham's travels, examining the consistency and quality of the information presented in both texts 10:23.
The Bible and the Quran have different accounts of Abraham's life, with the Quran describing him as going to Mecca, while the Bible mentions a trip to Egypt, making it reasonable to compare these two accounts 17:03.
The Biblical Account of Abraham and Sarah in Egypt
The Bible's account of Abraham's trip to Egypt in Genesis 12 describes him as telling his wife Sarah to pretend to be his sister to avoid being killed by the Egyptians who would be interested in her 19:40.
Abraham's plan to save his life by having Sarah pretend to be his sister is questionable, as it's unclear why the Egyptians would not take her even if she were his sister 20:45.
The biblical account describes Sarah being taken by Pharaoh, and Abraham being rewarded with gifts, including sheep, oxen, and slaves, for her sake 22:59.
Abraham's Journey to Arabia and the Kaaba
The Quran describes Abraham as going to Arabia and building the Kaaba, which is not mentioned in the Bible, highlighting the differences between the two accounts 16:13.
The Problem of Abraham and Sarah's Deception
Abraham's story in Genesis 12, where he passes off his wife Sarah as his sister to Pharaoh, is problematic as it portrays Abraham as willing to sacrifice his wife for his own safety, and this behavior is inconsistent with his character in the Bible 24:06.
A similar story appears in Genesis 20, where Abraham resides in Gerar and again calls Sarah his sister, leading to King Abimelech taking her, but this time Abraham explains that Sarah is his half-sister because they share the same father 32:46.
Another similar story appears in Genesis 26, where Isaac passes off his wife Rebecca as his sister to King Abimelech, using the same explanation as Abraham in Genesis 20, but this story is more closely modeled after Genesis 20 than Genesis 12 35:00.
These stories are problematic for the theology of the Bible, as they portray Abraham and Isaac in a negative light, and are also inconsistent with their characters in the rest of the Bible 28:56.
The Quran and Islamic sources have also been influenced by these stories, but Muslims need to be aware of the problems with these narratives and approach them critically 31:53.
The Bible as an Anthology and the Quran's Account of Abraham
The concept of the Bible as one book is a late Christian invention, and early Christians and Jews acknowledged the Bible as an anthology of books with tensions and contradictions between them 37:28.
The Quran does not have the same account of Abraham as the Bible, and the Quranic account is supported by some evidence, but most details are not supported by external evidence 42:25.
In the Quran, Abraham is portrayed as a human being who can make mistakes, but he is not immoral, and his behavior is consistent with his nature and description in the Bible 41:48.
The Quranic account of Abraham's dialogue with a king is different from the biblical account, and the Quranic account is more convincing and consistent with the theology of the Quran 45:19.
The First House of God and Abraham's Standing Place
The Quran mentions the first house of God as being in Becca, which is believed to be Mecca, and this house is much older than the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem 47:50.
The Quran references the standing place of Abraham, which is a clear sign known to the Arabs, and is referring to a spot near the Kaaba called Maqam Ibrahim, where Muslims pray and see the traces of Abraham's feet 51:31.
The Quran describes the first house as a site or spot, not a building, and Abraham was commanded to build the Kaaba on top of its foundations 54:16.
Abraham and his son Ishmael raised the foundations of the house, with Ishmael helping his father, and Abraham prayed to Allah to accept their actions and to make them and their descendants Muslims 55:08.

Abraham's Proclamation of Pilgrimage and the Meaning of Maqam
Abraham was commanded to proclaim the pilgrimage to the people, who would come from distant paths to perform the rituals, which included circling the house, praying, bowing, and prostrating 01:01:39.
The word "Maqam" is derived from the Arabic word for "to stand", and refers to a place where Abraham stood to build the Kaaba with Ishmael's help 01:03:03.
The word "Makam" is derived from the root "stand" and may refer to a place where Abraham stood to pray, rather than where he left footprints 01:04:39.
Abraham's Prayers and the Location of Ishmael
Abraham made a prayer in Mecca, asking God to keep him and his sons away from worshiping idols, and this prayer is mentioned in the Quran 01:06:21.
A later prayer made by Abraham is believed to have been made in the Holy Land, rather than Mecca, as it refers to "some of my descendants" and a different location 01:08:43.
Abraham's mission to Mecca is seen as a spiritual purpose, and he left Ishmael there for a spiritual reason, to establish prayer 01:12:03.
The Bible and Quran have different accounts of why Ishmael ended up in Mecca, with the Quran stating it was for a spiritual purpose and the Bible stating it was due to a dispute between Sarah and Hagar 01:14:55.
The Bible's account of Ishmael's expulsion is seen as mundane and worldly, and focuses on the theme of ethnicity and nation-building 01:16:26.
The Valley of Baka and Mecca
Psalm 84 in the Bible contains a reference to the "valley of Baka" or "valley of weeping", which some Muslims interpret as a reference to Mecca, while Christians and Jews argue it has no connection to Mecca 01:17:59.
The word "Baka" is also mentioned in other parts of the Bible, including 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles, where it is translated as "balsam trees", and some people have linked this to the "Balsam of Mecca" 01:21:09.
The Jewish Encyclopedia suggests that "Baka" refers to any valley lacking water, rather than specifically the valley of weeping 01:22:21.
Historical and Theological Significance of Mecca
A Greek historian named Diodorus mentioned a temple in Mecca that was revered by all Arabians, which supports the idea that Mecca was an important location 01:25:44.
The Bible's ethnocentric message and focus on Isaac and Jacob may have led to the omission of Abraham's history in Mecca, as it would have competed with the temple in Jerusalem 01:27:33.
The Quran's account of Abraham's life does not conflict with its overall theology, and it does not take advantage of Abraham's connection to the Kaaba in an ethnic way 01:30:30.
Choosing Between the Bible and the Quran
In the absence of external evidence, one must choose between the Bible and the Quran as a reference for Abraham's life 01:31:16.
The Quran's image of Abraham in Mecca is consistent with his exemplary character, and it corrects the Bible's account of Abraham's behavior in the Egyptian story 01:32:05.
The Quran's correction of the Bible is a recurring theme, and it is a nuanced and subtle relationship that seeks to correct the Bible in the name of truth and authentic revelation 01:34:17.

The story of Ibrahim and Sarah going to a land, in which Ibrahim says that Sarah is his sister, and Sarah receives Hagar is in Sahih al-Bukhari and is authentic. Is Dr Louay familiar with that?
    Sahih al-Bukhari 3358, Sahih Muslim 2371
    Narrated Abu Hurairah:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Ibrahim, peace be upon him, did not lie about anything at all - except for three: 'Verily I am sick (37:89)' while he was not sick. And his saying about Sarah: 'She is my sister' and his saying: 'Nay, this one, the biggest of them did it (21:63).'" - Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3166 (Sahih)

Fantastic content as usual. I would like to add to the point made by Dr Fatouhi about why we believe in the Quran. Besides the internal consistency and epistemological soundness of Quran we also have ayat - signs that match with the external data from the outside world which gives us evidence for our belief in the entirety of the Quran despite some unanswered questions. The external data had come from very wide range of fields like astronomy, physics, history, biology, sociology, psychology, geography, zoology etc. Based on these observations we have a strong evidence based faith in the Quran and its worldview. That’s how the scientific theories work as well. You have a theory based on few observations which explains those observations precisely and based on that confirmation your theory provides more predictions to be found externally.

In addition to Dr. Fatoohi's excellent arguments, there is the matter of oral and written traditions and heritage.
The Arabs of Arabia, who had an oral culture till the advent of the Prophet (pbuh) consistently asserted their Abrahamic heritage through Ishmael. Even the ethnocentric Bible refers to it indirectly when describing the desert Arabs as the villages or flocks of Kedar, a decendent of Ishmale (see for instance Isaiah 42:11).
The Egyptians, in contrast, despite their developed written culture, have no mention of Abraham ever visiting or living in Egypt or elsewhere.

No facts that can be proven. Beside that, the whole quran is based on modern arabic with vowels and that makes that words have another meaning. The quran was revealed in the quraish dialect because muhammed came only for his own quraish tribe just like the so called jezus came for his own tribe, the tribe of judah. If you are not from one of this tribe, than muhammed and jezus is not your profeth. Last but not least; the bible is 2000 years old and the quran 1400 years. Thats mean that man made religion is only 2000 years old, while africans are for biljoens of years om this planet. Were was allah all those biljoen years

It is normal that he visited Arabia, because Abraham visited Ishmael, while Ishmael lived in Mecca.
    Genesis 21:21
21 While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.
    Genesis 25:13
13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
    Isaiah 60:7
All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, And I will glorify the house of My glory.
    Deuteronomy 33:2
    2 He said:
    “The Lord came from Sinai
    and dawned over them from Seir;
he shone forth from Mount Paran.
He came wit] myriads of holy ones
from the south, from his mountain slopes.[
Nebaioth and Kedar are the sons of Ishmael and lived in Makkah , Arab land where is the Kabba = House of Allah and you still doubt that Abraham and Ishmael built the Kabba

Xtians & Jews have no problem accepting that Abraham (as) travelled 1500+ miles from iraq to Turkey to Syria to Canan to Egypt then back to canan!
But they have a problem with him travelling 750 miles from Canan to Mecca???!!!
The ancient incense route to yemen is well known travelling south from Canan - Taima - Khaybar - Yathrib - Taif & Mecca.
This route avoids the Desert & Mountain ranges.
Also, Abraham built a 'House of El' in several locations according to the Bible.
Both Jewish and Arab Traditions agree that Ishmael's descendants lived around this area & Abraham visited him several times.
Also, this House of Allah in Makkah is the ONLY ONE PLACE that all the Arabs agreed with as being Holy & built by Abraham & Ishmael.

It seems Abraham ﷺ also lied about her being his sister in our tradition too, sahih Muslim 2371, though this debunks the idea that Abraham ﷺ married his sister that’s in the biblical account
Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) never told a lie but only thrice: two times for the sake of Allah (for example, his words): "I am sick," and his words: "But it was the big one amongst them which has done that" and because of Sara (his wife). He had come in a land inhabited by haughty and cruel men along with Sara. She was very good-looking amongst the people, so he said to her: If these people were to know that you are my wife they would snatch you away from me, so if they ask you tell them that you are my sister and in fact you are my sister in Islam, and I do not know of any other Muslim in this land besides I and you. And when they entered that land the tyrants came to see her and said to him (the king): 'There comes to your land a woman, whom you alone deserve to possess', so he (the king) sent someone (towards her) and she was brought to him, and Ibrahim (peace be upon him) stood in prayer. When she visited him (the tyrant king came) he could help but stretch his hand towards her and his hand was tied up. He said: 'Supplicate to Allah so that He may release my hand and I will do no harm to you.' She did that and the man repeated (the same highhandedness) and his hand was again tied up more tightly than on the first occasion. He said the same thing to her again, and she again did that (supplicated), but he repeated (the same highhandedness and his hands were tied up more tightly than on the previous occasion). He then again said: 'Supplicate your Lord so that He may set my hand free; by Allah I shall do no harm to you.' She did and his hand was freed. Then he called the person who had brought her and said to him: 'You have brought to me the satan and you have not brought to me a human being, so turn them out from my land,' and he gave Hajar as a gift to her. She returned (along with Hajar) and when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) saw her, he said: 'How have you returned?' She said: 'With full safety (have I returned). Allah held the hand of that debauch and he gave me a maid-servant.' Abu Huraira said: 'O sons of the rain of the sky, she is your mother.'

From this video, we also know that the black stone was there since the time of Abraham

My theory is that perhaps the traces and explanation and mention of Baca is actually erased from the Bible. But I have no proof for that. unfortunately this is a story of no satisfactory conclusion vs the story of Pharaoh and Moses which has nearly clear evidence from the Quran pointing to Ramses being the Pharaoh at the time of Moses.
I always enjoy Dr Fatoohi's talk regardless. In some cases we just have to accept the fact that things are unclear and just accept it.

I am curious about the the dating of Abraham's time.
According to historians, the Egyptian dynasty began sometime between 3111 and 3035 BC when kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt (which consisted of mini kingdoms along the river Nile) were unified under Menes or Narmer.
There is no information on why and how did these mini kingdoms unite but it sits well with the narrative from the story of Joseph (him being adviser to the King and saving Egypt from the great famine and people from the surrounding region coming to Egypt for food).
So if this was the time of Joseph, it would give indication of Abraham's time (being Joseph's great-great grandfather).

While the Bible does not clearly mention Abraham PBUH in Arabia, there is sufficient evidence that matches pre-Islamic Arabian tradition and place names. E.g. Ishmael growing up in the Wildernes of Paran, Hagar discovering a well in Beer Lahai Roi, and the multiple reunioins between Ishmael, Isaac and Abraham AFTER Hajjar was left in the wilderness, and the "promise" to Ismael which equals that to Isaac. All of which also contradicts the ethno -upremacist claim that Hajjar was "cast out" or that Isaac was the "only begotten son".

1:09:30 The third verse actually refers to Mecca, not the Holy Land. Mecca is known as ‘Haram,’ a sacred and inviolable place it’s forbidden to commit certain acts there, including hunting, and cutting down trees. while the Holy Land is not referred to in the same way. The distinction between ‘Haram’ and the Holy Land is important, and so his interpretation of the verse is incorrect.

The Haram, stemming from the Hebrew word haram, refers to the Jerusalem temple because it was forbidden for Jews and non-orthodox Christians to be entered during Byzantine rule. The identification of the haram with Mecca is a much later imposition on the text by the tafsirs.

As even mentioned in the narration, Ibrahim and Sarah were the only two believers on the whole land at that time,
so what he said was correct that she was his sister in faith but the king understood the superficial meanings of his words.

about Jewish praying tradition and history of how Moses led his follower from Pharoah slavery
from Egypt across the red sea towards Arabia land.

Dear Paul, reference to the opening statement, I must present my thoughts. The foundation of faith in unseen is not on the availability of comparatively better answers through religious text when compared with other sources. This negates the whole domain of faith and puts it conditional to finding better answers in future for that matter which would then be a dilemma for faith in present as well since it becomes time bound or bound with the contemporary limitations of knowledge framework. Hence, it seizes to be faith, rather it becomes affirmation of doubt where it was lack of observational knowledge that forces one to pick "faith', albeit because of lack of options. Quran negates this concept overwhelmingly and absolutely and I, as an avid researcher of Sufi epistemology can bring many references to validate this. Faith is not a better option, it is absolute, and unwavering while its manifestation in actions may be tested at times. This topic in itself requires to be dealt with in this age of doubt where observational reality or scientific marvel has blinded even the faithful. All the respect for your work. Regards.

He went into West Africa and The Arabian Peninsula with The Pharaoh. This was due to famine. There are no contradictions. Just missing history.
