- Thanks for watching! Watch this video in the highest quality possible for the best viewing experience! In this video we take a brief ride on Miway’s route 76 City Centre-Subway, which runs east and west between Miway’s City Centre Transit Terminal & Toronto Transit Commissions Islington Subway Station. This route operates Monday-Friday and inter lines with route 26 Burnhamthorpe. This route takes both 40 and 60 foot buses, and is based out of Miway’s Central Parkway Garage.
0342 is a 2003 New Flyer D40LF and is part of a 44 unit order (0301-0344). These were Miway’s first New Flyer D40LF’s, and are currently in the process of retirement being 17 years old. These units are powered by a Cummins 8.9L Diesel turbocharged 280HP EPA2001 engine (ISL) and a Voith 4 speed automatic transmission (D864.3E). These units ride on MAN drive axles. These buses also have American Seating Model 6468, and Driver controlled heating and cooling.

Gotta love them Man Axels. My local agency has D40s and C40s with super loud Man Axels and they are so fun to listen to at high speed
THE TRANSMISSION/AXLES SOUND SO GOOD! Im from Calgary, We have D40LF’s from 2001 onward, but we don’t have that much variety unlike Toronto. Great! I have yet to upload bus content from Calgary Transit, but I hope to soon!
I managed to catch MiWay 0312 just the other day on the 109 and oh my lord what a sound. I couldn’t believe my ears. Hearing the engine sing as we accelerated to highway speeds is incredible! On par with old Ikarus 280’s and 260’s back in the motherland (Hungary)
I managed to catch 0342 last friday on route 20, it even got up on the 427... man was it heavenly, but it has changed a little.
Ever heard Enviro 200’s? Some of them really roar even at low speeds.
I wanna see more videos with D40LFs!
Oh dilton wassup

Love these buses!
I LOVE THE D40LF BUS!!!!
Nice video
Wish houston new flyers was still in service
What camera did you use for this video?
I got told by a Regina Transit driver that it's against the law to film on the buses today he said I can't film or I'm banned from Using Transit 😤 pretty dumb driver
LOL
I filmed on public buses and no one said anything to me, I even seen a guy who came on board with a Go pro on his head, not sure if he was filming or not, but yeah, no problems here in BC
well he's wrong, lol. probably just salty.
Can you make a video of bus 66 that departs at Sheridan college
Can you do a D40LFR next?
03 D40LFs are better.
@@TheBurlingtonTransitFan how about 06 de40lfr because that one is my favorite.
@@bangvec 06 DE40LFR? Don't you mean a 06 D40LFR or a 2010 DE60LFR?
@@TheBurlingtonTransitFan or what about the c40lf or c40lfr?
MiWay never had those, they only have D40LFs, D40LFRs, D60LFRs, DE60LFRs (BRT styled), XD40s, XD40s (BRT styled) and now XDE60s.
The 2003 D40LF is now being retired from MiWays fleet roster?
@@TigerEye35 0342 still doing good?
@@TigerEye35 Wayyyyyyy Less than 18!
Sadly, yes.. there is just about 10-20 in the fleet left..
@@TheBurlingtonTransitFan Wrong, theirs 15 left in service.
👍👍👍👍
I've seen vids of the WMATA D40LFR's and it sounds lower when its changing into 2nd gear than this. Still a good vid tho.
3 things contribute to that:
1. It’s a different bus with different weight
2. It’s an older bus with an older version of the powertrain
3. Transmission tuning is probably different aswell as eco mode
@@ontario_transitAh, okay that makes more sense.
It's an EPA 2004 engine, all ISL engines in D40LF's from 2002 and onward (without retrofit) have EPA 2004 ISl engines.
EPA 01*
It isnt an EPA 04, since it was made 1 year before EPA 04 was approved..
@@TheBurlingtonTransitFan Nope buses from 2003-2006 were all equipped with EPA 2004 ISL engines, EPA 04 ISL engines were developed in 2002, EPA 01 engines aren't even considered a thing. Here's the link to the article from cptdb: cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Cummins_ISL. Also, specific 2001 D40LF's have EPA 2004 ISL engines as they were rebuilt.

how-
@@TheBusFoamer SEPTA has ZF, but these are voith.
SEPTA HAS ZF! Not voith!
@@TheBusFoamer they both sound similar that’s how the different is miway has voith and septa has ZF
