Voice from the house in the distance:
"How unlucky is this driver? He's broken down right here in 17 different cars this week!!"
That farmer will be fed up soon! "What??? Again??" 😂😂
Too bad Bjorn can’t “break down” in front of the same farmhouse where he flashes his high beams.
11:36 Fully respect you staging the clickbait photo 📸 This channel deserves more views!
I like this drive to zero.
Amazing how different the cars and brands react 😳✌️
Vielen Dank Björn 😁
I like how it disconnects the battery at 10:30 to prevent further damage to the HV battery and then tries to conserve 12 volt power by dimming the screen and shutting off other things (as shown by the OBD dongle). It shows how this is a designed and controlled scenario.
Tesla Alien Tech.
@@wojciechkruzel6569 There is an emergency cable at the hole for the tow pin. You energize this with a 12V charger or battery and voila: The frunk pops open and you can access the 12V battery. Older Model S have two terminals behind the nose cone connected to the 12V battery (via 40A fuse) und a pull cable to open the frunk.
@@wojciechkruzel6569 Sure, is true. You don't want to know about the emergency release for the rear doors in many modern cars.....that is almost criminal.
21 miles from ZERO is impressive. I drove my 2020 Y 6 miles past ZERO and chickened out. Thanks for showing us mere mortals what happens when you run out of juice.
Results may vary based on the battery.
Yea, it almost seems impossible to be stranded on accident.
@@N0xiety You gotta try really hard to be stranded nowadays, there’s plenty of places with chargers here to plug in. And at least in Europe i’m pretty sure no one can refuse to allow you to charge, provided you can pay for it of course.
I would prefer more accurance and have more range above zero...
@@tymanot The accuracy at low state of charge is lower, it is better to have a 20-30 km buffer than a 0-10km buffer
These tests mean goodbye to range anxiety forever. Knowledge is KIIING!
Battery price is about $30,000. Let him put it in extreme test!😳 Yes, I know, Chernobyl reactor was priceless and they did test anyway.
how so, it just goes to show how impractical it is to an EV
@@deficator750 its about trust in the range prediction the car makes. Simples.
@@jarikinnunen1718 what?
The simulated Tesla service call was just too funny! 🤣
"Do you have a, I voted for Biden!, sicker on your car?" "yes?" Tesla hangs up. "At Tesla it is our policy to not support customers who vote against our best interest." - Tesla customer service
I was waiting for a "shiiieeeeet"
I have new title suggestion for this series: “Zero to Hero with Bjorn”
Or rather "Hero to Zero" but "Bjørn goes deeper" would be more classic.
First here. Respect to the Godfather of Ev testing
Well said! Björn is "THE" EV-Ninja! 👍🏻🥷
Next video. Making waffles at charging station using type 2 to schuko converter.
Bjorn, another amazing video. You are the best EV RUclipsr out there bar none!! Keep up the good work.
Smart to add solar after seeing the Audi test.
With my Model S85 years ago I tried to be cool and planned to arrive at the SuC Senlis (France, our way to Paris) with 3%. Stupid me chose the wrong toll lane exit, my GF gave me the look because she told me that i am wrong. "Naah, we areOK" So, wrong exit, had to go 30km loop, then stupid me took another wrong exit, I just ignored the nav. So another 3km detour. GF gave me the look again :-( But we made it to the SuC with no problem. Never ran out of juice in 8 years EVs and 270tkm total. Even tough I tried ;-)
Assuming 3% ~= 12km (?)
That is a 33-12 = 21km buffer on an old battery... That's nice
I arrived on a trip to Germany with 1% at the SuC because I was driving too fast on the Autobahn, to my surprise even at 2% I didn't get any power reduction dots on the display. I floored it when I saw the chargers and it felt like no power reduction. It dropped to 1% then (and my wife gave me also that look :o) Anyway, still don't know why and how that happened but it was a magical thing. Now I aim for 5% just to keep it on the safe side as I'm also good at taking wrong exits
@@lucamig5724 We drove with 70 kph on the highway for the detour, that reduced consumption a lot
Bjørn, you are just one of a kind.
Do Millennium Falcon next! I'm sure owners of older Model Ss like me will appreciate it :)
Agree! We drive a 2016 model S
Yes please. I was always told 0 is 0 for a 85. But of course, maybe Tesla changed the bms and took some kWh away for such reserve.
My 13 Model S started shutting down at 1%. 0% was unfortunately 0. It’s amazing how hard it is to push these things. Especially when you are 100m away from a supercharger and it’s a very slight incline. I charged horizontally across the s/c and everyone was looking at me. I said to them “I deserve to park like this”
What does that farmer even think...
This idiot running out of juice beside my house multiple times with multiple cars :))
Excellent video Bjorn. It is great to see how smart alternatives can make life so much easier. You lead the pack in useful information.
That is the reason I like the Model Y. So much space in the trunk!
🤘All praise the Tesla Overlord 🤘
I love this guy.
Great video! It's so enjoyable binging Tesla content until I buy my own😊
A very graceful zero. Thanks for showing. Props to the powertrain team
Very useful test. Looks like the pack voltage got down to 256 volts. Divided by 96 cells that is 2.64volts per cell - pretty aggressive! They are obviously very confident in their batteries!
Excellent study Brother!
Cheers, Eric
Very impressive how they designed the EOL (end of life) for battery charge. The approximate 4-ish% of capacity is recovered so quickly at 250KW...oh my goodness...just while you were talking for a minute or so, watching the range come up was very cool.
I thought the same thing. Really impressive that with a deep discharged battery from second 1 on it is hammering with full power. I guess not the best for the battery health, but you don't have to do it like that every time.
Bra test og mye bra info 👍👍
The fake phone call is my favorite part of these lmao
Great video, another dimension to your testing, super interesting
Cool Video Bjorn, enjoying watching you
Please do the same test with a Model 3 SR+ 60kWh LFP. I am always unsure if you can drive the LFP cars a decent amount of kilometers below zero too or not.
You are so funny, its a pleasure watch your videos, helpfull and full of teaching!!
I love the acting on the phone.
nice video! my guy talking about dp at 22:11 😂
Love it. Hope you can get to an Enyaq for this test soon :) Thanks.
I was waiting for autopilot to engage and override the human to take itself to the charger before it was too late.
I was expecting it to start hunting children.
Well done. This is why I am a Tesla Fan Bot! Model Y never dies!
These are great videos and the thumbnails are perfect
Tesla for the Win
I like this new series of driving cars to zero range. Although it's a hassle for you (kind of), it is something not everyone does (at least not in this scope with different cars).
What car have done some in uk over the last 2 years very interesting
7:28 a very interesting turn of things Björn 😂😂
So now I know how my car will react when totally empty! 🌝
I absolutely love these videos
The warnings are similar with the 2020 M3 SR+, i managed to go -2 % last winter..
Did you end up stuck or you reached the charger?
Hello Bjorn, top video.
Do You will compile excel file with all this test ?
It would be interesting to see what the Fiat 500e does when it goes to 0 (because I own it ahahah) thank you Björn!
ohhh i love you Bjorn!
Hi, very informative and helpful test, do you think that the VW ID family of cars with the new software (3.1) would react the same as the fat e-tron? Are you planning on testing an ID4 or 5 at some point? Keep up the good work!
the metron shukul toy is also useful for e-bike tourers who're too timid to ask a cafe whether they can charge their batteries or not
The Metron device is also useful for electric scooter. Most e-scooters have only shuko. When I still had a lead acid battery my range was so low that I would not be able to make it from my house to the RAI convention center and back. There were no e-bike chargers at that time, so I used public transport in stead of scooter. Now with lithium PO4 battery much more range and very little degradation
I would like to see EVs comparison in heavy city traffic. That is 70% of live of the cars, at least in Europe. Name it "City Traffic Test".
That dunk sound you heard just before you put the hazard lights on was most likely the contacters opening to prevent the battery from getting dangerous low voltage
Power switch for HV battery shutting down.
Commendable: Experimentally provocative!
Can you do the same test for (any) LFP variant?
Tesla kicks ass for the Lord - great movie reference hahahhaa
Kudos
Cool sharing. Would u be able to test a Polestar 2 in a similar way too?
Thanks a lot, Bjorn, for the Drive To Zéro Test. You Always Bring your Intelligence.
Mg5 ev below 25% drops rapidly and turns red. 17% warning reduced power. 3% warning pull over and stop battery exhausted! Range zero! Managed 3 miles (5KM) in hilly Bath at 20 mph max to a broken charger! Managed to get a free charge out of it eventually though.
Still a brilliant car though.
Awesome test again, but can you reveiw more cool ev/tech products? So much out there that no one knows of.
hi, great job. You missed you tried the ioniq 28 kwh already
Iced by an air fryer. Lol
Lol
Dat phonecall 😂
May I suggest keeping the Ecoflow right next to an AC outlet of the car, for example at the rear-center vents or in the passenger foot well? Might help quite a bit at quickly cooling the thing down, with the AC blasting at LO.
Dat phone call tho 🤣
- Hello, Tesla Service?!? I've stranded my Model Y in the middle of nowhere.
- Roger that! Got your location! Hold on - we are sending a T-megapack on a Ford F-250 Truck! You got any aftermarket accessories?
- Yes, rubber floormats..
- Nope, sorry, too much modification on a vechicle! Your insurance is cancelled!
Oh by the way, we put you off the superchanging network too! Bye-bye!
Oh, and a last thing - we turned your autopilot off too, tesla does no cashbacks btw! Have a nice day!
You should write sketch comedy for boomer-tok. Would get a lot of views.
Lol 😂
I feel safer going close to 0% on my model 3 now. Thank you Bjorn!
Tesla FTW! 👍
Can you made also the test for Model 3 SR LFP 55 KWh battery?
Or model 3 LFP 60 KWh.
These 2 LFP batteries are smaller and have different chemistry.
We need to see the "bellow 0" km that are available for M3 SR which is lighter, and have 1 motor!
Thank you!
New European verision is 50kWh battery on Tesla Y SR - any thoughts on this ?
You should cut out that part in your video about the Type 2 to Schuko socket adapter and post it as a separate video. It is quite useful, but most will never find out that such thing exist, because only very limited amount of people will watch a 27 min long video to the end
Good idea. I will shoot a separate (new) video about it.
I would love to see this test on the FIAT 500E 42kWh battery - could be interesting to see how much buffer you have.
Those tests are very interesting!
Can you do the Volvo (X)C40 at some point as well?
@21:15 interesting, the car automatically reduced the charge limit to 80% to discourage you from hogging a charger for longer than necessary.
Old feature.
@@bjornnyland Aah, I'd never seen it before so it was new to me!
The farmer is like: aww this guy again...
LFP Battery: Hi Björn, thank you for the video. Could you please repeat it with a LFP battery and high energy buffer. My M3 sometimes has an energy buffer over 6 kwh. I then leave it under 10% or fully charged for a while ("deep sleep") so that the energy buffer goes back to its normal 2.4 kwh. But it would be very interesting to know whether the high energy buffer can be used. I think the buffer is created by spending longer periods of time in 20-80% SOC. Charging to 100% and driving off immediately does not reset the energy buffer. Thank you and all the best for you and your family.
This depends. Because the BMS didn't know the exact spot on the charging curve. The gradient is steep at end and beginning of the curve in the middle it builds up a uncertainty. This is accounted in the buffer. So long story short in one case where you don't need the 6 kWh they are there but on the other case where you need them hardly, they are gone.
*Farmer from red house: **_"Look! That crazy asian guy is out of juice again!"_*
Since i just bought EQS, Please test EQS
Thanks for another great video the type 2 thing could you use it to power something from the Tesla? Ie vehicle to load like in the Kia and Ioniq 5 ?
No. It's from a charging station to something else. Not from an EV to something else.
Very impressive.
Would love to see this test performed with a car that has a really small battery, like a Mini SE.
Please add the details at the end of the videos like for the 1k km challenge.
With the Shuko you can fill the external battery and then bring the battery to the car :)
This programming is a million times better than the Audi and nio.
Polestar next?
Would be interesting to see how the 2022 LCI bmw ix3 behaves in this situation.
Please if possible test LFP Tesla, would be interesting to see how it handles due flat voltage of LFP
good video... keep it coming 🤪
Björn try it with Ioniq 5 or ev6
Hi Bjorn,
Can you do the test with the Volvo C40 single motor?
Asphalt is hot. When you put Ecoflow on the hot asphalt, it gets hotter. Shoult try to put it in the gras, 1 meter away, on the right side of the road, on shadow of the car, not in direct sunlight.
Tesla for the win 👍
Fantastic Tesla!!!
Oooof, I wonder what a Leaf would be like under those conditions. 😂
Impressiv Tesla!
The solar is a nice addition
This could also be useful if you loose the 12V battery in the car and have to charge that one up. I just bought similar one to be able to use a 220V tool with a type2 station :) .. vacuum cleaner
and impact wrench at the car.
Would be really useful to see this Test with an older, used Model 3 without octovalve. Will it be similar?
To rapidly cool down the ecoflow you could put it somewhere where the ac will blow in the direction of the fans. That should make it a lot faster
That's exactly what I did.
Hey Audi, this is how 'Vorsprung' looks like.
Can you do the same test with aiways u5?
One importante thing Bjorn that should be shared: Some EV's came with a 16 amp charger without any possible manual configuration. This will trip the solar generator and if you are not able to control the current on the car (not on teslas, since you can do it on the charging menu) you won't be able to charge.
The ecoflow will send the maximum it can, no matter if the car asks for more.
@@Evans_Man it will disconnected as an overload protection.
I don't think many came with a standard socket and 16A. Continuous 16A is a fire hazard. I never saw anyone coming with more than 13A.
Will you test the facelift MG5?
Hello
Can you test the Tesla model 3 2022 with LFP ?
