Persephone has a point. The Amazons kept themselves isolated for millennia at the behest of their queen because their former master and her ex lover was a bastard. And every time someone suggested reconnecting with the outside world, she said "Nope. My ex boyfriend in our prison is still an ass, therefore all men are asses. Besides, who needs men?" Yet she was able to have a child of her own to raise and love. Why couldn't anyone else have a magical clay born baby?
Ares is a god, a personification of an idea. He is neither man nor mortal and thus cannot be used to represent a group or groups of people. This is the problem the Amazons have and ultimately what WW rejected, that something that looks like a man is a representation of all those who are men. He represents the idea of carnage and violence, which is something all animals are capable of, including humans. If you think peace and loveliness come from having a vagina, I'd like to point out that Hera is guilty of killing dozens of people who did nothing but be born.
I agree. And I'm actually very sorry for Persephone. She made many bad choices, but her only real weakness was to be human rather than as Hippolyta to normalize the hatred of men and never admit her own mistakes and bad choices, as she denied her sisters freedom to life in contact with men. In a way, Ares is also very human. He loved his son and even though their son was a monster, was Hippolyta as much a mother to him and refused to take another reading than to kill him. Would have been interesting to see if, Ares would have love Diana if she had been their first child and if Hippilyta still would have hated her if she had been Ares daughter. They always make the mistakes they can’t take back before using reason instead of killing. It’s always the lack of understanding each others souls that truly is the root of all evil and pollution. As well as a lack of perspective. At this point we are all sick of it! Now is the time for action to do something good about it.
Persephone has a good point at the end. She became resentful towards Hippolyta. But it's still no excuse to foolishly be in love with the evil Ares who wants to destroy humanity. It's no excuse to have murdered her friend Alexa and to have killed many more innocent people. I just don't understand why Persephone didn't choose to leave Themyscira and try to start a family of her own in the outside world?
Like she says in the beginning, she never meant to fall in love. Her betrayal happened all because she fell for Ares. And Ares succeeded in eventually manipulating her into thinking it was love and using her repressed desires for love & family as the gateway. I don't think she actually knew/acknowledged nor would she allow herself to acknowledge that she wanted these things before Ares.
i think that the island being isolated with magics and all is very hard to leave but if you get caught or left and captured the punishment would be death, banishment(losing your amazons powers longevity, strength etc) diana in a way this is just my opinion had it easy.some stories she was simply banish and not put to death or what.i mean they are warriors after all..

Persephone was Ares' s psychotic side chick, but you do get a sense that all she really wanted was someone to love and have a family. Still she betrayed her race and threatened to destroy the world but you still can't help but feel bad for her. This makes you wonder if the other amazons felt the same way or not
Persephone (destruction) was the Goddess of Spring, born with the name Kore (the maiden) daughter of Demeter the Goddess of the Harvest and Zeus, God of the Sky and King of the Gods. Hades, God of the Underworld saw her and fell in love with her, and then kidnapped her when she was picking flowers in a field. Her mother became distraught when she realised she was gone and didn't take care of the earth, so the crops died and Zeus finally commanded Hades to return Kore to her mother. But because she'd eaten 6 seeds of a pomegranate that came from the Underworld, she couldn't really leave. Eventually a compromise was made, that she would spend six months of the year with her mother and 6 months with Hades as Queen of the Underworld - this was when she was given the name Persephone. When Persephone returns to Hades Demester lets the earth die around her (autumn and winter) but when Persephone returns Demeter lets spring and summer return to the earth. That's who Persephone is, not a traitor to her people nor someone's psychotic side chick.
This movie is actually kind of frustrating if you know a lot about Greek mythology. First off, Persephone is the wife of Hades, not Ares. Second, the Amazons were the daughters of Ares as well as the only mortals that he legitimately cared about, in fact there is a story of him murdering one of the sons of Poseidon for raping one of the Amazons. Also the Amazons were pretty much just regular warriors which is odd considering that they should be demigods, but still no where near strong enough to kill a god.
Persephone made it clear that in shutting the Amazons away from the world of Man, Hippolyta denied them happiness in attaining love and a family. Which is what she wanted to be loved and to have a family and be a mother, I know it dose not excuse all she did but you gotta feel for her
Hippolyta is using the enchanted sword of no bloodletting. No matter who you kill with it or what part of their body you stab them with, it sheds no blood. As you can imagine, that comes in handy for cleaning and maintaining her sword. Never have to worry about wiping off the blood.
Knarf Nil Acttually, that's quite brilliant, a wound that never bleeds blood can never heal, any skin breakage caused by that sword will be doomed to infection.
While Hippolyta painted all men as being evil because of the malevolence of Ares, being a male god, she seems to be forgetting about a certain other god. One whos sole purpose is to cause nothing but chaos, strife, and discord. Eris. Eris is female, and represents all of hostility and disharmony, and Hippolyta just conveniently forgot about that?
No no no hippolyta said evil that deep within a man heart stating as long as ares exist to corrupt men they are all evil eirs isn't out there corrupting woman
Well to be fair they hate human man’s world because originally they nice and welcoming to Hercules, half human/half god, but he took advantage of the amazons and spiked their drinks then tied them up (because I believe that’s an amazons only weakness is being tied down or smth that takes away their powers) and enslaved them and r*ped them for years I’m pretty sure before hippolyta finally freed herself then her sisters and they fought for their freedom and won and killed Hercules. So it isn’t suppose to be male gods they hate but human men because Hercules was half human and took advantage of them without being provoked
This is why I love this movie. You're pissed off at Persephone but right here you get what's she's saying and do deeply understand the flaws of Hip world. Hip isn't necessarily wrong either it wasn't just the wrong of one man it was continuous wrongs and she decided isolation was best to keep her people save. You understand them both.
The amazons need to realize how men have changed over the THOUSANDS of years. And I have respect for women all over but EVERYONE isn't perfect. That means you too Hippolyta.
To quote X3: X_Men United: Wolverine: "I thought you were a diplomat!" Beast: "As Churchill said, 'There comes a time where all men must-' [stops to punch someone] Oh, you get the point!"
I really loved this movie, it really showed how men and women really aren't that different from each other when it comes down to it and that differences should be accepted not shunned away out of fear and hate. I love how they also paralleled Aries and Hippolyta. They both saw the world of mankind as a place of war, greed, and death the only difference is that Aries decided to embrace and learn to love it, Hippolyta shied away from it and feared it. They did want their own version of peace however. Aries with his son and all the chaos and power in the world at his fingertips, Hippolyta with her people no longer having to suffer and with Diana. They also had a strong sense of family, Aries wanted his son to be strong enough to face the world, Hippolyta wanted Diana to be wise enough to avoid it all but be ready for when war comes. They really weren't all that different in the long run and the movie shows that. It also shows that there is always a better way too.
Such a strong and sad scenario. Ares was just pure evil and Hyppoleta was scarred so badly by him she closed her mind to man-kind. But didn't realize how much her own decision hurt her people.
Hippolyta needs to look in a mirror before she starts accusing Persephone of anything. Peace and beauty are wonderful things but what's the point if you can't have loved ones to share it with? And I don't mean just having your warrior sisters around you. I mean a special someone to share the joys and sorrows of life with, children that can fill the empty void of the heart. Sure that's not the life everyone wants, but those can still be important factors towards happiness. It's just too bad Hippolyta is too much of a hypocrite to realize her own shortfalls and admit to her mistakes.
so much debate over this scene but i think the reality of it is this, the Amazons may be warrior there were many who agreed with Hippolyta side of their society... but there were others who craved more, looking at this scene it feel more like a moment between the two characters and their views and not a philosophical lesson, Persephone honestly believed in what she said just as HIppolyta believed in hers.
And that started by killing the nicest of the Amazons in the back, coldly and without remorse. And that was just the beginning. Let's not make her some martyr here.
Reminds me how in another comic Gail Simone wrote, she explored how the other Amazons reacted to Diana's "birth". Some were happy and others...didn't take it as well.
I'm surprised that Persephone is here. In Greek mythology, she's the wife of Hades and the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of farming, wheat, and the harvest. She has nothing to do with the Amazons.
What is probably worst is that if you look at it carefully the queen is the only one to have a child while the other amazons don't have children themselves so ouch keep kind of her fault for letting one guy change her opinion about man in general
This is such a strong moment for this movie, that I will call this movie a rational response to the problem of equality between men and women. Feminism is not an correct response to the discrimination, it is the exact opposite point of a problem with the exact same distance from the solution. Basically men and not better than women, women and not better than men! Each sex has its strengths and weaknesses. Men are generally good with their psychical problems, women are good in social problems, or are more social. A large role to the problem is that we don't even understand how a man and a woman think differently which would explain why they react so differently to these problems.
+dan henry I agree. And I'm actually very sorry for Persephone. Casper Richter Agreed. Persephone did make mistakes, but she did them because she wanted to stop her own endless loneliness and live as the people she read in her books. She saw the problems that still remained unsolved while Hippolyta lived a selfish life: Think about it: at the beginning of the movie we see her yearning for children and she s given one by the blessings of the gods but not one of her other sisters is given the same gift. So I see that Persephone was Hippolyta before she was given Diana. In fact, Diana's arrival might have triggered her hate for her fate in the first place. Ares, I don't know if he is human, but he was most definitely not given a fair trail or choice, he is the god of war, what do you expect him to do? Do you judge the Earthquake for being a force of nature? Do you judge the weather for not always being in your favor?
+dan henry Feminism is about equality and freedom of choices, so is actually the rational response to discrimination, other thing is that many people like to give another meaning to feminism.
"You turned your back on your sisters!" "No. It is you who did that when you turned your back on mankind." -Please let a variant of this be in Wonder Woman, whether at the beginning with Hippolyta, or at the end when Wonder Woman decides she didn't want to save the World anymore.
0:49 I wish more women would listen to this. Men and woman are equal even if we weren't always treated that way. Taking the same road as the men that kept women down for centuries isn't the answer especially if you have had the advantage of growing up in a culture that doesn't treat you that way. You would just be stooping down to their level. I can't ever remember a single time in my life where I was looked down upon because I was a woman. Even if some guy did think that about me I would just think he's a jackass.
I'm probably going to be called out for feminism here, but so be it. Half of the commenters here don't understand feminism past the internet surface level. That was a powerful line at the end and has a lot of impact. But at the same time, it ties in the association that all women naturally crave for family and children in a very powerful way. It speaks that part of being a woman is to want children and family. This is untrue and also implies that men do not crave family or children either (Ares in this movie being a very obvious example at how false that is) or that men cannot crave for it in the same way. Because she didn't say something like "but we are part of man(kind) too", she says "because we're women too". Feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the arenas of political, economic, and societal equality. It's the protest against only asking female politicians "if you're on a campaign trail, how are you going to take care of your children" as if men didn't have part in it, because nobody asks male politicians "how are you going to have time for your son and daughter while you're on the campaign trail". It's thinking there might be something off with society viewing a woman putting her career in front of her family as more severe than if a man did it or turning up its nose at a househusband because he does what is viewed as a woman's job. It's believing that there should be a cultural change in the way people view women, so that a girl going home one night from a party isn't molested and raped because her clothes meets that guy or guys' standard of slutty. Because let's face it, they're looking for an excuse. People saying they way they dress is an invitation is both victim-blaming as well as making excuses for the creep. I don't like the radical feminists either, but I also don't like people who are like "pssshh self delusions of feminism". What we have with Hippolyta here isn't feminism people. It's close-minded stereotyping and misandry based on the trauma of being raped then forced to give birth to her rapist's baby. Said baby is then raised to kill and probably also rape her people/friends/sisters (that tongue thing Trax did at the beginning of the movie was pretty creepy). When recovering from trauma, a lot of people do the whole retreating from reality into their own safe space thing. More often than not, someone or something forces that individual to eventually start dealing with the world if they don't do it themselves. Nobody tells Hippolyta up until now though and that's what makes this is a beautiful and powerful scene. The Queen realizes that her own hatred and fears have blinded her to the pains and loneliness of her people. While she has a child of her own, others watch and are reminded of old lives with murdered husbands, lovers and children. MISANDRY AND FEMINISM IN ITSELF ARE DIFFERENT. It's not the cause's fault if there are self-proclaimed feminists who are misandrists.

Therefore, any main character who learns anything at all in this movie is overwhelmingly likely to be female. Therefore, if a character is to wish for a family and children, that character is overwhelmingly likely to be female. It's not sexist; it just wouldn't make any sense, *in this movie and under those circumstances*, for the character to be anything but female. (2) 99.9% of the Amazons already believe that men are inherently evil and only slightly better than Ares himself. They are already taking an extreme stance on an entire gender (something you're accusing this movie of doing). Therefore, the correct development of character would be to bring a majority of them to a less extreme stance about men. Hence, the character who rebels against the Amazons because she thinks she wants children of her own, taking the first step in bringing the entire people to a more rational state of mind (i.e. "If you want children, I won't consider it a crime to the point where I try to execute you myself"). (3) Nothing is implied about men except that they are evil and somehow responsible for various women's inadequacies outside of Themyscira. Ares is not human and cannot be included in this, despite the fact that he too is also considered evil beyond help. Your whole second paragraph feeds into your stance on feminism, but it includes so many different tangents that I don't believe it's worth addressing in relation to your argument about this movie. Your third paragraph feeds into points that support your first paragraph, which I've addressed above.
+JadeToniRitsa L I think it was more about the "choice" of being able to form a family or not. Everyone should be able to make there own choices reguardless of gender, race, religion or anything else. Hyppolata made a choice but refused to give it to her "daughters, sisters" whatever by enforcing a creed she did not live by herself.. so your right she is not a feminist she is an Hypocrite ( im talking about WOnder Woman has her daughter not the Ares rape)
+JadeToniRitsa L Nobly done! However, as much as we might want to express the intent of feminsm, it can't be denied that the movement has been hijacked. Just like Christians are supposed to be about love and forgiveness but instead are known for ignorance and judgementalism, feminism isn't represented by positive ideals anymore. And maybe that's for the best, because it's original goals have been met, and now we can move on to humanism.
Tiger74147 Feminism wasn't an "intent" because actually accomplished several goals in several countries and neither was all his goals finished because we are still far away to equality. This campaign against feminism calling him extremism and calling him unnecessary has existed since it started.
shrug, in the comics, Amazons procreate by sailing out to sea, seducing a ship of unsuspecting sailors and killing them once the procreation act was done, then the Amazons sail home and wait till they gave birth, the daughters they kept and raised, the sons they sent to Hephaestus to act as his helpers at the forge in exchange for weapons
@@firxanza5172 i have the chance to read that comic. Wonder woman wanted to free his brothers ,by defeating Hephaestus, but they tell her he is the man who raise them ,loved them and teach them a job,so they don't want nothing with the amazons
Persephone should've realized that by selling out to Ares, she didn't care if he had to harm every human being on Earth, including the women and children. She was stupid for helping such an evil being.
Look, this is just a movie, but isn't ironic that the feminism message of "Men will do you wrong, therefore we don't need them and let's do without them" is basically the same message you hear today. That is why Wonder Woman is basically the poster girl for feminism, but the problem is, in the real world if you think men and women can't be together and compliment one another, then you try to demonize or oppress one another and you get chaos. Persephone's last dying words makes a valid point; when you desire equality, but in reality you want superiority, you forget the very thing you are; in this case, a woman.
Anyone else realize that the writers that are writing for the current Wonder Woman and actually writing for a few different versions of Wonder Woman just kinda made her really strong but as a consequence they kinda dumbed her down cause now she’s so strong she doesn’t need to think passed punching and glaring at people while in this movie she had to relay on her cunning and strategies cause while she is strong she was also getting her butt handed to her by Aries when she tried fighting him head on; it’s like just let her be smart and tone down the strength thing so she’s not just Superman but as a girl
I loved this movie especially this scene. The creative team showed a decent balance of feminism and human nature. Even the characters like Steve called on Diana thinking she had men all figured out when she barely knew any, whereas Diana called on the misogyny of society. And this scene is powerful for Persephone proves a woman could be a feminist AND have a family: this is not female oppression but human nature. As a MAN and a FEMINIST, I too crave a family
Correction it shows that feminism denies human biology as by choosing to be warriors, the Amazons forfeited their desires for family. It’s either one or the other, can’t have both. It’s not misogyny but chauvinism or sexism. Plus it also shows the worst form of sexism or misogyny has been and always will be from other women.
This is actually the strongest animated version of hippolyta look how far she flung those men at the beginning of the movie But I do agree she is nerfed considering she even had a fight with black adam
Oh Persephone, you should’ve said that in the beginning, instead of siding with Ares and killing your Amazon sisters. Now it’s too late and who is to blame here? You!
So the Amazonian queen didn’t consider how the other Amazons felt when she took away the rights to enjoy a family life I’m not defending what this woman did in anyway yes she betrayed her sisters in unleashed hell but then again she was already living in a hell made by her own queen
@@charlesking8110 your wrong yes hyppolyta lied to her sisters but to prevent them of leaving there paradise and sanctum she was protecting them but yes at the same time I'm sure some of them would love to start a family blah blah blah but in the end the Queen is thinking of the greater good
To all those feminists out there let this serve as a message Just because you want to destroy your own life doesn’t mean you can destroy others in the process
Now THIS is how you do a good balance between feminism and strength. So mamy people wanna make "strong women" all while missing the point. _"We are warriors, but we're women too"._
What Hippolyta didn't understand was Persephone was manipulated by Ares so easily because SHE was the problem in thinking ALL men in the outside world were like Ares. THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!!!
+cherrieblossomgurl If I had to guess, it has something to do with him being the only man around and something to do with a pen pal/guard falling in love with a prisoner.
+ShadowWriter45 That's a good point. I heard story once where two female guards had a relationship with a prison guard. For that they were arrested and suspended from duty. Its like Alexa said to Persephone, "the heart wants what the heart wants, even that of which is bad for it".
Hippolyta really thinks a warrior should be an emotionless husk that only cares about battle all the time? Thank God Diana doesn't see things like she does.
I’m sure there are plenty of amazons who felt like Persephone felt. They want to fall in love and have families. Im certain plenty are just jealous that the Queen gets to have a child while they can’t. Yes Man’s world has atrocities beyond measure but there’s more to it than just destruction. Persephone may of been a traitor but her reasoning is well meaning that the queen must realize she was selfish and never thought what her people want
And it seems that Persephone thought that killing the kindest and most peaceful Amazon in the back and with no remorse. Yes, THAT'S well-meaning. And so noble. And so selfless. Persephone was a piece of garbage. Hyppolyta was right to kill her.
The Queen has the right to kill her for killing her own sisters but I’m just saying she has a point and that some other amazons feel the same way that Persephone feels.
@@subscorpion9560 Her point falls flat when you realize the pain and horror, the Amazon lives cut short. All done with Persephone never showing a hint of remorse. Never breaking stride. Never being horrified at what she did. And I think no other Amazon 'felt like Persephone felt'. I don't see them rebelling against Hyppolyta. I don't see them killing other Amazon in the name of Libido. Persephone was the only one who felt like Persephone. Let's stop trying to make her some martyr. She was crazy.
Hippolyta's hatred of men cursed these women. They can never experience love, intimacy and the joys of motherhood and families (Persephone's point). I bet half of these women are envious of Hippopyta as she is the only woman on that island who was able to raise a child.
peresphone had a good point but at the end she did what should not be getting foolish in love killing innocents betraying your ones so yeah she deserved it but I still feel sad for her all she just wanted is just have kids and a happy family like we all want in real life but it just that she fell in love with evil man which should not happen sad
While Persephone does have a good point, and even though it's not shown in the movie, for a time there was a child on Themyscira-Diana. Chances are, most of the other Amazons helped Hippolyta raise her daughter. If Persephone wanted to interact with a child, why not help out when Diana had been a child? Or did Persephone refuse to help simply because Diana was not her daughter?
I think the point is that even if Persephone did help raise Diana, she wasn't her child. Hippolyta was the only one allowed to have child. Persephone wanted that same happiness and Hippolyta was like, "Nope. You can't have what I have because men are awful. I mean I haven't really confirmed this in a while, but I'm pretty sure."
this annoys me so much. it was originally hippolytas fault. she allowed one single god to convince her that all men are the same. and she was the only one allowed to have a child while the other amazonians didn't. She should've realized this. also women are no better than men. there were tons of Greek goddesses who were just as bad as Ares but nobody talks about that? even Hera was not a perfect goddess herself. hell, she even tried to kill her children multiple times just for being born.
Strange - in the Justice League cartoon series Hades is there and his wife Persephone isn't mentioned because they created a relationship between him and Hippolyta. Here was have Hades but his wife isn't there and we have Persephone but she's not THE Persephone and she's in love with Ares.

Persephone was manipulated by Ares so easily because of Hippolyta for not seeing that the outside world has changed & not ALL MEN were evil like Ares!
Victor Luis exactly all of them are virgins and never gotten a kiss let alone a touch it’s natural for us
This movie is actually kind of frustrating if you know a lot about Greek mythology.
Never have to worry about wiping off the blood.
you made an awesome comercial,i want one XD

And hippolyta is the only one blessed with a child so kinda unfair really
so much debate over this scene but i think the reality of it is this, the Amazons may be warrior there were many who agreed with Hippolyta side of their society... but there were others who craved more, looking at this scene it feel more like a moment between the two characters and their views and not a philosophical lesson, Persephone honestly believed in what she said just as HIppolyta believed in hers.
that last line that Persephone says is really touching. And I'm not even a woman.
anime lover 17 It's not touching, and doesn't make sense either

Yeah, not in "current year" hollywood culture.
“Yes Hippolyta, the Amazons are Warriors. But we, are women too.”
She wanted to be a Mother, and that desire drove her to change her circumstances.
Furious Sherman Same name, different people
Artemis (the red head) in this movie also not the goddes herself.
I dont think she's the goddess persephone. I think she's an amazon named after the goddess
Same as Artemis (amazon) taken from the Greek Goddess of Moon and Hunt. And Diana (Wonder Woman) Roman Goddess of the Moon, Hunt and the Underworld.
What is probably worst is that if you look at it carefully the queen is the only one to have a child while the other amazons don't have children themselves so ouch keep kind of her fault for letting one guy change her opinion about man in general
Wasn't Diana made from sand or something by zeus?

This is such a strong moment for this movie, that I will call this movie a rational response to the problem of equality between men and women.
Feminism is not an correct response to the discrimination, it is the exact opposite point of a problem with the exact same distance from the solution.
Basically men and not better than women, women and not better than men! Each sex has its strengths and weaknesses. Men are generally good with their psychical problems, women are good in social problems, or are more social.
A large role to the problem is that we don't even understand how a man and a woman think differently which would explain why they react so differently to these problems.
+dan henry
He elekede his son and even though their son was a monster, was Hippolyta as much a mother to him and refused to take another reading than to kill him.
Would have been interesting to see if, Ares would have love Diana if she hvde been their first child and if Hippilyta still would have hated her if she had been Ares daughter.
Hope Hippolyta can learn something from this.
Casper Richter Agreed. Persephone did make mistakes, but she did them because she wanted to stop her own endless loneliness and live as the people she read in her books. She saw the problems that still remained unsolved while Hippolyta lived a selfish life:
Think about it: at the beginning of the movie we see her yearning for children and she s given one by the blessings of the gods but not one of her other sisters is given the same gift.
Simply, we are all humans
+xCoatlicuex Feminism is the same shit as Machism, stop the bullshit.
Hippolyta you won that battle but Persephone won the war with her words.
Loved Hippolyta’s voice in this film.
Props to the lovely Virginia Madsen.
That moment when the antagonist is genuinely more likeable than the protagonist...
Taking her words into account, it makes sense why she got seduced by Ares. He had centuries to seduce her, and he's literally the only man there.
"You turned your back on your sisters!" "No. It is you who did that when you turned your back on mankind."
-Please let a variant of this be in Wonder Woman, whether at the beginning with Hippolyta, or at the end when Wonder Woman decides she didn't want to save the World anymore.
If nothing else, this teaches the danger of not changing the guard on a prisoner for hundreds of years.
I'm with Persephone through the whole thing!
So true Persephone so true
0:49 I wish more women would listen to this. Men and woman are equal even if we weren't always treated that way. Taking the same road as the men that kept women down for centuries isn't the answer especially if you have had the advantage of growing up in a culture that doesn't treat you that way. You would just be stooping down to their level. I can't ever remember a single time in my life where I was looked down upon because I was a woman. Even if some guy did think that about me I would just think he's a jackass.
I never thought that Persephone want to create a family. That was kinda a surprise for me
I'm probably going to be called out for feminism here, but so be it.

(1) This movie primarily stars women, on an island where no men exist.
+JadeToniRitsa L Ok. that was pretty well explained.
+JadeToniRitsa L
Nobly done!

I can understand how some Amazons would be jealous. What if some of them wanted a child of their own to?
shrug, in the comics, Amazons procreate by sailing out to sea, seducing a ship of unsuspecting sailors and killing them once the procreation act was done, then the Amazons sail home and wait till they gave birth, the daughters they kept and raised, the sons they sent to Hephaestus to act as his helpers at the forge in exchange for weapons

Everything come at a price babe. Leave the island and get knocked up. Problem solved.
