Came here to say just how ridiculous the guitar playing is here. So delicate and beautiful and aggressive almost all at once. Been listening to guitar players ( and trying to learn from them) since I was well, since 1980 or so and you're playing sounds fresh and old soul at the same time. You are one of the few.
What's incredible to me is that on top of having an amazing band that Chris obviously helps write songs for... he STILL finds a way to at least put 1 if not 2 original jam tracks that absolute fire...
and do so once a week.
Guitar playing aside, the creative output of this guy is on another level. Cheers!
I’m not not amazed every time I hear Chris play. It’s not just the virtuosity, it’s the soul, the life he breathes into each phrase. Hauntingly beautiful, just incredible.
Impressively excessive way to say "amazing playing" 👍
Ha ha, I just noticed that Chris Buck and Cardinal Black have the same initals. Great playing, wow!
Haunting tone. As always, Chris is one of the best guitarists today, if not the best. Always looking forward to new tunes from Chris and his band.
Best blues guitarist in my book.
The new guitar hero 🥰x
For sure he has a sound all his own it's just a joy to behold
I love his right hand style. Thumb and fingers yet still total blues rock. It's been done before but it's always a joy to see.
Chris is without doubt an amazing guitarist, but Cardinal Black are an amazing and also and have in no small way contributed to his ever improving style.
More stunning soloing. Speaking of collections, you should select 20 of your best Friday Fretworks performances and put them out on an album. We would all buy it.
100% these jams are unreal i wish to be as good as him. surely a living guitar god
Congrats on the Frampton gig Chris! That is pretty monumental.
I am not one of those types that pour out effusive accolades for whatever their favorite YT personalities do, but that guitar solo at the end really is kind of awesoms.
Freaking beautifully played at the end. Awesome mix and truly top tier phrasing.
I can’t agree more!
You are magician! I take my hat off.
No words can describe the beauty of your playing (No matter what guitar you play). Stay Well Groovy One!
I could hear you and look at your hands play alll day,Sir. Thank you.
Your playing has the same vibe as your voice, calm tone, yet epic in its phrasing. My 1st guitar was a les paul, and even if I only chose it for aesthetic reasons, I fell in love with the model after seeing the videos of jimmy page with Led Zeppelin at MSG in 1973.. so iconic. I love tele's and strats, but a les paul always feels like home.
great playing, I am jealous 🙂
This man's talent level is absolutely ridiculous! What an amazing guitarist!
Just beautiful Chris…needless to say mark Knopfler with his 58 les Paul Gibson and his soft picking magic playing had made one of the best sounding guitar till today’s 😇
Hands down the most tasteful player to date. Absolutely unreal
Beautiful guitar playing. Just beautiful.
Long live the Les Paul!!! Thanks Chris!!!
Thanks Chris! Love the new Cardinal Black song.
Beautifully written and told as well as played...
Thanx
I know you are well aware of the soul that makes it’s way through your fingers, but I still just had to say it moved me. Thank you.
Man I LOVE that solo you played on the 1960. It's actually how I found you...someone posted your video on that guitar when you first played it, I'll always recall that solo. Wonderful stuff Chris, thank you
You play music Chris. And it sounds good. That's why I like it.
That last jam...quite tasty riffin' there!! Will always love the Les Paul. I've owned several. Rock on!
4 x Chris JAMs in a single video… great start to the weekend.
The content of these videos is top notch, but that intro jam is absolutely stunning. That's world class guitar playing, just mesmerizing. I keep coming back for it.
The last solo was a masterpiece lad!
Beautiful guitar work!
That last jam fuckin rocked!
That last solo, which i first heard on your peter green video, is my favorite solo of all time by any guitarist. What a stunning work of art.
Excellent job!
Playing on the same card as Frampton. What a dream.
F-word yeah, that solo at the start was sweet!!!
Watch for the history, be blown away by the guitar solos! I love the closeups of him playing, his technique is fascinating and amazing!
I gotta say, you do know your shit, man. Thanks for another great vid, Chris.
Thanks for making these shows. It is so special to hear you talk about guitars and play them. You pull tones out of instruments I have never heard before.
That outro jam ... ooooooooooh (shiver)
What a beautiful solo!
Thank you, Chris.
Jaw dropping Solo at the end!! Could you maybe release all your JAMs from the videos as a Compilation? Maybe at the end of the Year as a recap or something. So i can listen to them on Repeat:)
just seems to get the best out of a guitar !!! tone and playability the guitar just comes alive in the hands of Chris so nice to see a guitarist play with so much feeling hits the spot 👌 top notch playing
Fabulous as always Chris. For me you forgot 2 guitarists in your excellent list of Les Paul players. The first is Andy Latimer of Camel and the second is Chris Buck of Cardinal Black.
That intro proves it’s not how many notes you play but WHICH ones. Beautiful.
LOVE that dirty, swampy stuff about 8 min in. You are a master dude.
i always wait to hear the solo at the end❤❤❤
Man, that end solo is just insanely beautiful and haunting. Great episode.
Always great playing, but I really enjoyed all of your jams on this one!
Daaaumn that beginning jam has to be one of your best 👍😲
Lovely playing as always
yes beautiful playing very nice
In addition to being a wonderful player, you have admirable talent in putting together and narrating videos. The Les Paul is certainly an integral part of rock and roll.
😎 Thanks Chris ⚓️
Love your format. And your solo in the end is nuts!!
CHRIS BUCK is easily my favorite guitar player! 👍 Everything he plays is 100% tasteful!
Hey Chris, could you please share your backing tracks with us? Even for a small price like you did on your "Rig Crysis" video. It is always so great to play along that track and break down your solos. :)
That would be a good idea. Yes please. ✌️🇦🇺
@Glenn Lilley, firstly I'm not your son. Secondly nobody asked YOU, and thirdly I intend to do the work, but other people's creativity inspires me.
What about you old man.
@@glennlilley8608 Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh mate. Without even seeing you, I know you're "hard on the eyes". Some random saying that to me, doesn't change anything. Say hello to "ugly jnr" for me. I'm hanging with the "pretty people". Hahahahaha.
@@glennlilley8608 I know.
You're shooting blanks. Hahaha.
@@castleanthrax1833
Hahaha! Some of you commenters really crack me up!
What a great solo...omg
This video with classic playing 👌
Absolutely brilliant as always. At no point is Chris’ playing predictable or cliche. Utterly unique. The definitive guitarist of his generation. One of the greatest in the world.
Definitely! Sounds like a slide withe no slide 🤔 !
Thank you! Finally someone got it right: Les Paul had no contribution to the design or construction of his guitar except the useless trapeze tailpiece, that Gibson dropped immediately.
Great overview of a truly iconic instrument. And your playing was, as ever, inspirational
Maybe I'm stretching here, but that last jam sent me on a bit of a journey. Knowing, as I do, that Slash was such an influence on you and that Slash certainly has an affinity for Joe Perry, I heard the culmination of the three of you in that recording. Tonally, there's a bit of Slash in the guitar sound but part of the lead definitely referenced Remember (Walking In The Sand). Yet, it all sounded unmistakably "Chris Buck". Whether it was on purpose, I can't say. That was kool.
Anyway, love your playing. Try as I might to learn to emulate that slide-like technique of yours, I just can't quite get the hang of it. It's incredible. It legitimately makes me think of Derek Trucks' actual slide sound.
Nicely put together man!
Thanks for another great episode Chris. Fabulous playing as always.
Your melodic phrases are impeccably complete in every sense...tone, technique, dynamics and emotion. Just incredible man. 💯
Chris, it’s worth saying here that I love you fluid language. I don’t think it’s really been commented on but you have a rare gift for clear, incisive, informative and fluid dialogue, a commodity that is exceedingly rare in todays day and age. Top marks man. Hang onto that thing.
Love to hear you talk about the history of guitars and it's a real treat to hear you playing them.
Brilliant as usual Chris. One of the best episodes to date IMO! And man, the playing is phenomenal
So glad RUclips suggested your channel. Really dig your videos. Great content.
You‘re the best chris! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this knowledge filled episode and all your quality content! And your playing which is just an eargasm!
I love your playing technique and note choice! You sound amazing with the real deal, vintage and copies! These you tube videos are so great! Just enough information not to be boring, but interesting. Thank you!
Chris you're such a fantastic player! Your tone and style is truly unique 👌
Love the fact that you actually use the controls. Most guitarists don't and that's sad. Love your playing, music and shows!
Very nice video! I thought I knew all about the history of Les Pauls, as I've been playing them since the mid 1980s, but this video history was fascinating!! Many thanks.
It's magical how chris comes up with all these original amazing licks.
I'm in awe to everything he's playing
Great overview of the Les Paul, thanks! I still have my 68 Custom that I bought in 74. Great playing and best of luck for the band on your upcoming shows - nice to be involved with Peter Frampton! Cool.
Just love those jams, the way you dig in & feel every note🤟🏻
I don’t know wether to love you or hate you Chris. Absolute monster player. Flawless . As usual.
That out-tro jam nearly brought me to tears. What a monumentally underrated player you are, Chris. I hope that changes drastically very soon for you, young man. Best of luck with - and congratulations for - your tour with the legendary Mr Peter Frampton, as well as your own headliner gigs. Thanks for the ear-candy once again. Cheers from the land Downundah, mate. \m/ 0_o \m/
Stunning playing & great video.
Nothing sounds a full as a Les Paul. I loved your tones and great playing as usual. I prefer a LP with P-90s. Pure heaven in the correct hands as you proved Chris.
So so beautiful the playing.
Very dramatic and sweet!!
I put everyone I know onto Chris for his playing, but his video content aside from his playing is of a consistently high quality - almost no one comments on it!!! Everyone just sycophantically fawns over his playing. I imagine even he gets bored of that.
Very inspiring playing Chris
Cardinal Black on Frampton finale tour WOW 🤩 Well done as always mate 🔥
I think this demonstrates the idea nicely that one can not only know how to play guitar, one can really know how to play a specific guitar, e.g. a Les Paul or a Strat.
Love that last jam. Very cool and different Keep it up
Hi Chris I luv your channel mate, ,
I’ve just seen that you’re playing the Adelphi club in Hull it’s a great venue I played there myself a lot of years ago, it’s like 2 houses knocked into 1 but some legendary bands
Have played there over years, any way I may see you there 🤟
Great story - super soundtrack! Many thanks.
Love you Chris. I follow you and your music. Your okay style inspires me!!
Goddamn-your playing is incredible. Aside of that, superb history lesson. Many thanks for all you do for the community. Cheers!🤘🏻
that is some serious guitar playing Chris. much respect.
Breathtaking tone
Another big name Les Paul player not mentioned: Neal Schon of Journey. In my opinion, he played some of his greatest solos on a Les Paul. Such an iconic sound!! Thanks for the video, Chris!
Fantastic playing 👏👏👏
Damn, Buck. That intro gave me goosebumps! And you know what that means; absolutely awesome.
Man Oh man that 56 gold back was a pure joy played by a great riff maker! Pure drool dream guitar!
I absolutely love the way Chris plays. The way he seamlessly uses the controls, volume, tone and pup selector while ripping out a solo is utterly brilliant! I have been playing for 50+ years and cannot hold a candle to this young man. The word “Gifted” comes to mind, but single minded focus and practice are also factors.
Absolute treat . Done the les paul proud. Thanks
Tremendous outro there Chris, I enjoyed this episode greatly
Congrats on the Frampton gig man! Tone at 8:30 was beyond. Sounds like a P90 Phaser cutting through ready to take your head off. Great !!!!!!! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
