Amarillo is a city in the Texas Panhandle. It’s a gateway to the vast, trail-lined Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The Cadillac Ranch is an installation of graffiti-decorated cars, partly buried in a field. With art deco and Spanish Revival buildings, the U.S. Route 66-Sixth Street Historic District is a hub for dining and antiques. The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum is dedicated to the famous horse breed.

Yes you did miss something. Just outside the city you will find gas wells. However these aren’t normal gas wells. These are helium wells and the only ones in the continent. The only other place is in Russia. I forgot something, also outside the city at night, there is little light pollution, which means Star gazing is phenomenal. I went up there a meteor shower. One every 20 seconds.
That is AWESOME.
I've lived here my whole life and had no idea that existed here
You need to go downtown about 1030am, and find that little BBQ place, get your BBQ, eat it, then take a tour of the Santa Fe building. I have a special place in my heart of Amarillo because of that Santa Fe Building tour. That was many years ago, they may not even be using the building anymore. There the city police and many city offices were there when I went through there. That is one really neat art deco building. The city and county people working in there were the best most polite and cordial people on the planet. Loved every second of it. The food in Amarillo is great. Good BBQ. Calico County Cafe was great also. That was in the 90s, so who knows what is what now. When they dug the foundation for that, they discovered a wooly mammoth remains in very great condition. Still had hair and skin.
I used to love going to The Discovery Center as a kid. Pretty cool stuff.
Thank you for letting us know the beauties of the USA!
There’s a great natural history museum at WTAMU about 15 minutes south of Amarillo too. My kids love it.
Panhandle Plains Museum. One of the best history museums in the entire state.
Blessings to you always!
🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️
i have been to plao duro cnayon so many times and i really suggest you go there
Make sure you tell everyone to bring enough water when you go to the canyon during the summer cause the Randall County fire department is sick of coming for your ass over something so preventable.
Yes tell us!
Made me homesick
Gonna be in Amarillo 23rd for a week!
I'm in scotland but planning on moving to USA, trying to find a friendly place to move to. Kinda like the idea of texas.
Oklahoma is great too. As someone who’s lived in both Texas and Oklahoma I can recommend both.
I really liked Edinburg Scotland when I visited. Yes Texas and Oklahoma are much warmer! haha
I been here most of my life if you thinking about amarillo meth is really only the biggest problem meth makes theft high other then that we would love to have you
Come to Amarillo TX we have great Authentic Mexican food, Great prices at our local grocery stores, cheap gas, rent, and its an all around beautiful town.
@@tonyak-47best God bless you my brother I've been on RUclips for a long time but I ain't never heard anybody mention my hometown of Amarillo Texas
The best home town
Considering moving here nice to see this!
Best of luck to you,
You do not want to move to Amarillo Texas. Unless you want to be a prostitute because they will pull you into it and you will not have any help from any agency, lawyer, cop. No one. They have the most corrupt system here that you will ever see in your life. They are killing women here and nothing is being done. Don't move here. Take my word for it I'm a veteran and they don't have any respect for me either because I'm a woman.
My favorite thing is that their is a lot of movie theaters mutliple Walmart’s and a new place called cinergy which is an amazing place to watch movies play bowling and play mini games
Thank you for watching! 😆
I called it home for 11 years
I lived there in 1985.
Where do you live now?
Seeing videos on Amarillo is insane. Living here it’s not that nice honestly there’s been a lot of homicides lately
Stay safe!
I travel the state for my job. There are worse places wherever you go.
Anna Homicides are EVERYWHERE now, thanks to the new Freedom of Guns Act.
@@raymesquite amarillo has all the crime and poverty with absolutely no redeeming qualities other places have. This is a small ass town. If you live in the loop and you have to go to exit 78 area every fucking day you are going to easily put 40 miles on your car. Every other city I've lived in isn't 20 miles long for a fucking population of not even 200k people. I'm done living here. There are no jobs. The cost of living might as well be as expensive as new York because you won't even remotely make enough money to pay for shit. I've never in my life seen tin foil on the fucking windows in the summer until I moved here. There is no economic growth. I have to carry a gun everywhere I go because crime is so bad. The roads are on levels with third world countries. You have to suck somebody's dick just to get a lousy low wage job. Fuck this place.
Amarillo is hot garbage dumbest drivers on earth
Why does a cowboy in Amarillo keep a can of chewing tobacco in his back pocket?
Answer: So he can stand on it and see the next county.
If you've been there, you'd understand.
I thought it was to watch your dog runaway for an entire week.
Is Donut stop still around?
Have you been to Sedona Az ?
Not yet!
No mention about the 25+mph winds almost daily?? Living in rillo is like living in the Great Depression, better love breathing dirt constantly
I think you meant the great dust bowl
Especially these thunderstorms too
There's nothing before or after this place for a while
Why did you give such short shrift to the Cadillac Ranch? Even if you include the welcomed graffiti, it's still a form of art, as all US cars in the postwar era are today. The Cadillac "Ranch" (sic) just west of Amarillo was designed and created by Texas millionaire Stanley Marsh III and assembled to honor the era of Cadillacs in which the cars' tail lights were integrated into the tail fins. Ten cars represent the distinct variations from 1948 to 1964.
All the Cadillac ranch is a bunch of cars buried in some godforsaken field in the middle of fucking nowhere. Stanley marsh was a pedophile by the way.
Cars buried in the ground fn stupid
I find that this "top ten" RUclips video, like the many others populating the page, are put together like a college turn in: at the last minute and with little to no experience with the subject. This is merely a top ten trivia.
Usually I get asshole comments like this on the videos where I explain why a place sucks. Seriously, do you not have anything better to do? Feel free to never visit my channel again, I'm sure you won't anyway.
Rt 66 is filled with cops all the time
I don’t think you people have ever actually been here.
I think you are wrong.
Pretty sure I’m correct, especially if this video was published in May 2021. No mention of our minor league baseball team or brand new stadium? No mention of any other restaurants besides the Big Texan?
@@chrisstarr4523 Go Sod Poodles!
Also the Amarillo Venom
I grew up there. Hated living there. After I moved, I started missing it. I underestimated it. By the way, I used to work at Wonderland Park. Brings back memories.
@@crwinters3737 It took me a long time before I figured out why the baseball team was named the Sod Poodles. Once I realized it was a synonym for "Prairie Dogs", I thought they could've done better at picking a name.
One big truck stop just stop and get gas and go somewhere worth seeing this town is nothing more than a stop on the way to going somewhere else .
Its not.
idk where you got your info but that is not wildcat bluff. There are no beautiful landscapes in Amarillo.
That steak looks not great tbh.
The Big Texan has home made beer on tap to go with the great food.
Flat as far as the eye can see, and ugly…that is Amarillo.
Don’t forget about the Cadillacs 🤦🏻♀️
Proceeds to call the home of the second widest canyon in the USA ugly 🤦♂️
It’s bad because it’s flat-? 🤦♂️
@@Boneappleteahee you were supposed to do this 🤦♂️
After living and driving in the Hollywood Hills and Switzerland Hills for so many years...I like flat ...with big places that are very easy to drive and park my big fancy car! haha
Lies
Lol it seems as if no one is ever happy.
I guess Amarillo is technically in Texas but it sure feels like Oklahoma. Big Texan has good food and big truck parking.
Why do you talk so slow in your videos? Oh right so you can exceed 10 min vid time 🙄
Amarillo is boring as hell .
