What are some of the stereotypes of minimalist you can think of?
Black and white house/furniture and the classic grey or black t-shirt. Colors are fun but it's all about that minimalist *aesthetic*.
I keep my eyes shut all the time, minimalist vision 😏

As a homeless man myself, I can tell you there's some grain of truth to it. Personally, I don't like carrying too much stuff on my arms and back. Others, however, fucking take tooooooo much shit for no fucking reason.
As a minimalist myself, I've noticed a distinct lack of humor in the minimalist community. Maybe minimalists have decluttered their funny bone? Your video gave me a good laugh! THanks!

@Fixit 🇫🇮 Correct - I have already replaced more than 30 books (which I donated to the library) for cheap Kindle versions. I wonder if I will ever read them...

Minimalism should lead to intentionalism but it gets stuck at the decluttering and organization stage, which becomes just a new obsession.

minimalism is not frugality, you can buy expensive stuff and still be a minimalist, bought a new Porsche 911 Turbo S? still a minimalist if you only have the things you need.

It took me nearly 2 years to get a good paying job out of college. I used to dream about buying a lot of things. I used to buy expensive stuff using my credit card. And since my salary was low, I fell into a debt trap. But then I worked hard to upgrade my skills and get a better job. I reached a point where I was able to afford 2 iphones at once. I started spending on stupid things but still I had my savings though minimal. Until my brother fell sick and he did not have any insurance. So I had to pay out his bills. It emptied all my savings. That's when I realised the importance of money. And it's need in important times. Nowadays if I want to buy something. I keep a goal of saving up for it. And interestingly even when I reach that goal, I end up not buying it. Time makes me realise that how important that thing is and if I even need it.

That’s kind of like an article I read as a child that I’ll never forget; if you want something that you can’t afford, tape a picture of it somewhere you will see it often everyday and eventually the excitement of actually owning that thing will encourage you to save money for it, or you will realize it’s not something you really need and the excitement of it will fade.
Things can be very tempting to buy. You should always have an emeegency fund. In case of accidents like those stuffs

Completely agree. My fear is to have a big emergency like a relative getting sick or dying and not having enough to go to the funeral etc (God Forbid). That's why i waited until I had a regular salary to upgrade my lifestyle like increasing my mobile data, buying better shoes and sneakers. So that when I buy those things, I still have savings, it does not make a hole in my bank account. Recently, I wanted to buy a Dyson blow dryer at 400 euros but I finally decided it was not worth the money. And I'm glad, I'm happy with my 40 euros one 😂. This way of doing was frustrating during some years (especially college), but I'm glad I did it. It paid off and now I can gift myself whenever I want (but you know the cheapskate in me is never that far 😂).
When people hear the word “minimalist” they instantly would ask, “so you only own less than 30 clothes?” I don’t get why being a minimalist suddenly has guidelines!

HAHAHAHAHA basically minimalism is just plain black and white for others, but me, I like earth tones. Minimalism really just depend on the person who's practicing it because,what is essential for me maybe not be for others and what is essential for them is not essential for me.

It's sad that people confuse minimalism with poverty. Minimalism is the concept of clutter-free.
I wouldn’t say clutter free but more of having only what is necessary and what helps create a simpler life

It is absolutely not a concept of not having things, like you see mostly on youtube these days. They are just pathetic
I think too. I don't understand people. Personally, I didn't chose to be minimalist, I am, that's all, even though I have a decent amount of money in my bank account. I'm just not interested to keep things at home, except if it's useful. So, I can have a lot of object at home but there is no object that I won't use. I don't give emotional value to objects neither.

I define my minimalism as being not attached to objects.
I'm not a minimalist (yet), but I think that's a good goal. I find I'm more attached to buying things than I'd like to be, and all these minimalism videos are making me reconsider that.
Same here people laugh at me when they visit me...well only my family visit me no friends. I love my empty house.

Every minimalist must have a RUclips channel where theyve uploaded a parody video giving a tour of their house which seems impossibly minimalistic and takes minimalism to ridiculous lengths wherein they display their complete lack of generally necessary commadities but the video eventually results in them admitting its a joke and that they aren’t actually as extreme as other minimalist RUclipsrs make it seem.
I love when you paint with water claiming to be a creation, that is proper minimalistic.
You can really do art like him with just water and a brush, it's called "Buddha board" :)
Minimalism myth : Own less.
Minimalism reality : Conscious of attachment. U attach everything "only" when u find value and irreplaceable. Its not about consume less or more, it's consume consciously : Do I really need it? Do I already have it? If no, then buy or consume. Also, it's not about compromise on ur liking or hobby. U can be minimalist even if u own ton of clothes if u like fashion or clothes.
Minimalism is a state of Mind. Not a tangible phenomenon. If ur bogged down by "notion of owning less" and feel terrible, ur only pretending to be minimalist. Its the conscious living with conscious attachment. If I like car, I will buy, when I find no need, I will sell. That's a minimalist. Not "it sucks without a car but I want to be minimalist" is downright Ignorance.
when you have little money, you automatically adjust yourself to minimalist life.
Loved this video and laughed at the water bottle “that’s not mine” 😂 decluttering as a hobby hits hard. We can’t declutter forever.

When he started painting with water, I felt that.
Be careful having a mattress directly on the floor, it can get mold under it when temperatures change. I learned this the hard way. I built my own bed frame afterwards for $75 using wood from a local store. Having airflow under a bed is important.

Rylen Ciota it’s possible. It doesn’t always happen but if you have a cold floor and the humidity gets high enough then moisture gets stuck under there. It might be more likely to happen with a foam mattress
You don't need a bed frame, just lean the mattress on the wall when you don't sleep ;)

▪︎I'm already 57 years and I am really learning ways from you on how i can sustain this good habit of living less and enjoying more. You are right.. each of us have its own interpretation on how to be a minimalist...

I would like to reduce the amount of things I own that I don't use or care for. Maybe 20-30% by the end of this year? Replacing most of my clothing with clothes I make in fabrics / shapes I prefer is high on the list as well.

Minimalism-like any other "extreme" method-works, because it is "extreme".
Extremes are always easy-as it usually comes down to an "all or nothing" attiude.
Moderation is the thing where people keep failing over and over.
Like with any other "extremes", minimalism can become an obsession-or an addiction.......especially as there is no "one size fits all" solution aka "If you only own THESE things, then you are a minimalist...congrats, goal achieved"....
I believe that minimalism is a daily exercise-a mind game, where you reduce your possessions to a level you are comfortable with now-then you re-evaluate every day whether this is still the level you are aiming for....
In addition to that, i stopped purchasing new items totally.....not because i think consuming is a bad thing (whenever i need something, i will happily buy it), but because there is simply nothing i need...
I've embraced all my possessions and stopped buying new things and use existing till their soul escapes.. and if I'm buying anything new I try not to buy plastic stuff, and things that are sustainable.. I'm refusing,resisting & reusing mostly..

No. White is the lack of pigment, the lack of color. Black is as strong pigmentation as one can get. Black is color.

not to mention white can be fragmented into literally the entire color spectrum
color is the result of light reflection as well as absorption and therefore less color is the result of less light
black objects tend to absorb the majority of it which is why they appear black, there's not as much light to reflect back to your eyes
cmon man we learned this stuff in like 6th grade :/
well, there's also the concept of subtractive color (which you're describing) and additive color, but there's no need to go that into depth :p
edit: sorry for the long reply! *tl;dr* light = color, black = lack of visible light and therefore lack of color
@@ccaffie1231 No, because light isn't color. Reflected light is just how we tell what color an object is. An object that reflects everything is without color. Color is an attribute of objects. (And don't worry, I am well aware of additive vs subtractive color)

This is interesting to watch, I'm a utilitarian , so I always make sure anything I own/use/do, is the most efficient action/item. The difference seems to be that I own an abundance of tools and equipment for future situations that I imagine could happen!

I decluttered a lot of things and something about owning less or better said mostly essentials and some excessive stuff, feels just so much better and I don’t know why.
Maybe because I have a hard time keeping everything organized, or I just get triggered more easily by things that lie around that I never use.
