    I really don't understand this complaint. Nintendo adds a additional minigame/randomizer for people who want to play that, with some tutorial levels. It is essentially completely optional. Either you are a 100% completionist and 100%-ing the game is a reward in itself, or you are just playing this mode for fun, in which case the mode itself is the reward. It would be more annoying to have an awesome drop or trophy be locked behind this very long game mode for those who want to just skip it.

      I mean, having the dungeon-sharing system be ONLY amiibo is kinda a major...REALLY, Nintendo? (Stop pushing amiibos. I’d be more willing to buy them if they were ONLY figurines? Vs...all but required for the newer games. I didn’t appreciate the games demanding Both GC and GBA, either. Not accessible.)
      But, okay aside from it not being really shareable like MarioMaker? I’d get WAY more use and This Is Fun out of that vs...all the freaking shooting galleries in many of the games (or the gambling ones or Dodgeball etc).
      Basically? You do the minigames for the reward because the minigames suck. If a minigame doesn’t suck it doesn’t NEED the reward (although rewards like item/bag upgrades and bottles or HCs are always nice).
      But...fml when it’s a REQUIRED minigame. Like ALL the Rowling Ridges just to get the Trade Sequence For TWO keys. Just...REALLY?!?

      So, the items are pretty much set, as are the bosses. But other than that? Have at it. (Maybe only the TopDown games though vs including the OoT/MM, WW, TP, SS, and BotW styles due to performance crap. Mario’s still a platforming sidescroller in most of its main titles.
      (So, choosing between Zelda1, LttP, LA/Oracles, MC, PH/ST, LBW, and remake LA for the styles. And have the items/boss options reflect whatever style’s being used vs recoding EVERYTHING)

    I kinda feel like it's LoZ devs way of telling players that games aren't meant to be played like checklists. Like they're trying to get people to unlearn the completionist mindset that modern achievement systems have created. Yes, getting rewards for extra challenges is fun. But feeling compelled to 100% every little thing is not, and it's unhealthy to reward such an obsessive perspective. They're basically saying _"No, the extra content we provide is not a carrot on a stick. It's just there if you want more gameplay to chip away at, but we are not going to give you a digital pat on the head for OCD behavior."_

    • @ZelosSama
      @ZelosSama 4 года назад

      Why make optional stuff then ? Sounds like a waste of ressource , said like that . And ocd is a mental disease , they cant do anything to change that and shouldnt stop because some people want to 100% their game. I even think its a good thing too . Personally i liked bragging about completing 100% of the game , because i had weapons /costume/abilities etc that made it worthwhile , and that i could brag about.
      And if they dont do it , people will complain the game is too bland.
      EDIT: and the completionist mindset wasnt brought by the modern achievment system at all it started as soon as video games existed. (Most rpgs from nes and on, platformers from nes and on, etc. Like did you play goldeneye 007 on n64? They rewarded you with funny cheat codes for completing bonus objectives on harder difficulties .)

    • @Graphomite
      @Graphomite 4 года назад

      @@ZelosSama
      Maybe I worded that inaccurately. No, the completion mindset was not created by modern achievement system, of course, since that impulse applies beyond gaming. What I mean is that it positively encourages it and normalizes it. And I'm not sure if that's healthy. Or fun.
      There's nothing inherently wrong with having excess content in video games. That's not where my argument lies. My argument is that this compulsion to complete excess should not be coerced with the expectation of reward (the irony being that truly no digital plaque is truly worth 100+ hours of time you otherwise wouldn't have wanted to spend doing the grind).
      I think there is a scale to consider with the reward/excess ratio. If less than 25% of players are likely to even enjoy the excess (BotW Korok seeds), it should not be rewarded. But if the excess is genuinely fun enough to hold the attention of 25% of players (Mario Odyssey's star collecting), than it should be rewarded.
      Reward fun gameplay. Keep grindy stuff to be its own "reward" for those that really wanna do it. Don't pressure people to do it.

  • @xHiyami
    @xHiyami 4 года назад +5

    UHhhh, no. The Korok reward was obtaining them all. That was an achievement in itself. Do you get rewards for achievements on xbox or PS4? because that is what collecting the Koroks are to me. After the heart piece, you get a full heart, not another heart piece. Pro tip: if you don't place rooms with chests, you have to go there. First just make an easy path to the objective (you can bridge a large area with stairs) with minimal chests and easy rooms and second fill in the rest with harder rooms and bosses as long as there are no additional chests. Also you can place a rupee effect in a room and get like 600 rupees for completing each dungeon. I usually place the boss room near the entrance and warp back to the entrance with the ocarina after I get the nightmare key.

I say we SHOULDN'T get a 'ultimate Plus infinity' sword for it. This is a part of the game where making your own dungeons and playing through them SHOULD BE the reward. Besides, at THAT point in the game, what reward would be the point?

    • @ZelosSama
      @ZelosSama 4 года назад +1

      Its different here i think
      They give you hard conditions into each stages , with a finite ressource , so it seriously limits the creativity. Inunderstand it being a prototype from zelda maker, but the idea of "just do it for the creativity"is lost when they decise to force a challenge on us. Keep in mind that not everyone likes those type of mini games and is a chore to them. So its not fun for a good part of the playerbase. If there were a feauture like a free mode ,like we could create dungeon however we like with no restriction , i would be ok with it. But with having none , it has a "do it if you want to100% the game"feel and people dont like that.
      Tbh , i think they could have put the heart container further ahead of the challenges . Giving it so soon make me think they realised the mode was meh.

    "These dungeons are very difficult and time consuming."
    Yeah, but only if you don't minimize the rooms you actually have to go into. Case in point: the Supreme Shape. You can seriously put filler for most of it, with a staircase connecting the start to the end, with one chest along the way. That's basically 5 rooms instead of the labyrinth you've created with 12 more chests you don't need. If you have a good strategy, the time allotted to complete this task is significantly reduced.
    Koroks in BotW, however, have no shortcut. You get to actually go to every one.

    The dilemma with rewards for doing everything is that whatever it is will be just about useless no matter what because there's nothing left to do in the game anyway.
    The Fierce Deity Mask, for example, has little use outside the final boss battle because it's obtained at the end of the game after completing every major sidequest.
    I think the only way some good late-game completion reward could be made useful is if it could somehow carry over to a new playthrough.

  • @BloodRedFox2008
    @BloodRedFox2008 4 года назад

    I actually prefer knowing at least I don't have to grind to some kind of super special reward as now it really does feel more like an optional side thing to do just because you want to do it rather than feeling like it's mandatory. The only Zelda game I can think of where some form of a grind was fine was in Majora's Mask with needing all masks in order to get the Fierce Deity's Mask and getting to see the true ending, mainly because they made it so that getting most of the masks was done in an interesting way and each one had at least some purpose (also outside of the transformation masks there's only 20). But had I been forced to get all the gold skulltulas in Ocarina, all the bugs in Twilight Princess, or all the korok seeds in Breath of the Wild, I would have hated it because I don't like it when I need to do tedious stuff to get a better ending or something. Case in point: Batman Arkham Knight. Only way to get the true ending is you need to 100% the game, which involves getting every single Riddler Trophy and most of them are boring to go after. I resorted to just grabbing a 99% completed save online so I only had to grab one last trophy to actually see the ending. So yeah Majora's Mask mask collecting aside (mainly due to the amount of masks being very manageable and the methods of getting them mostly fun), I'm glad the vast majority of Zelda games avoid taking some kind of Arkham Knight-like route of making the player do tedious stuff to get some super special reward like a better ending or optional equipment that likely won't be useful to me by the time I'm able to get it.

    Personally actually really have been enjoying Dampe's Chamber Dungeons.
    BUT... I didn't touch it until I had completed the game. I think that makes all the difference. I wanted to get as many of the room pieces to work with right out of the gate. As well I really felt since it was a remixed dungeon mode it would be a great way to relive some of my fave dungeon moments and bosses.
    In a lot of ways it's kind of like getting a "second quest" or a "master quest" mode like in the original LoZ or Ocarina of Time.
    I think the let down is if you view it as a "Mario Maker" kind of mode. Which it is no where close to since it's done with very limited options. I didn't really care about any reward at the end anyhow, I was jut creating dungeons to challenge myself in gauntlet style designs.
