They could remake an Earthbound in this art style and the world would quake. The turn based combat would be trippy and natural when paired with minimal battle animations (such as the ones you’d find in pokemon) and imagine master belch as a mini 3d figure. We’ll see Classic characters like Dr. Andonuts with a bit more expression to their face, that way the already heavy working dialogue hits the heart even more. Seems like a dream too far, but those are the ones worth reaching for
earthbound begginings is a better option for a remake
Earthbound Unearthed Trilogy
Ah yes HD fetus deletus
Don't.... Do that. Don't give me hope. It only hurts.
The world = Earthbound community, which is 1% out of all Nintendo's community.
"Puzzles no longer reset when you leave the room."
This game is now 1000% better.
@Walther Penne Much as I love classic Tomb Raider and respect someone who agrees that the modern ones are NOT Tomb Raider at all...to what problems are you referring? There was Red Alert in Chronicles I suppose, but their heart clearly wasn't in it by then anyway. :P
Now... if they could only do the remake treatment for Oracles of Ages and Seasons...
Actually, if they were to do that but end up reimplementing the 3rd game idea, that'd be really cool.
would love minish cap remake also :D
@@Fiddesh88 oh God yes.
Everything about the third game was implemented in Ages. In fact, the third game was ment to be about time travel and the game that became Ages was ment to be around colour based puzzles (which the final product still has a lot of).
Please no. Don't ruin the Oracle games too.
MetroidsEATYou I would love for them to remake the Oracle games in the similar fashion as this remake. I love those games and completed them both and got the true ending.
the "no screen transitions" was SOOOO amazing when playing. I'd love to also get Oracle of Seasons/Ages remade just to enjoy the world freely like links awakening
"it's been 26 years..." dude don't remind me of how old I am. I was nine when it dropped.
ouch I was 5 when it dropped .
Ouch I wasn't born when it dropped
"Chilean guy"? Huh.
I was 13, but I didn't have a Gameboy until the Gameboy pocket came out in 1996.
I was 22. And it feels awesome at 48 to play this incredible gem of a game in all its updated glory. Happy Gaming!!!
This game made me hate rocks.
Then you must be really happy about this change, can't wait until your next vid
Yeah... I accidentally grazed the side of the rock and the text appears left to right. But the rocks is not as bad as touching the crystal without the Pegasus Boots. When you get the Power Bracelet, you don’t have to worry about the text box appearing if you touch a rock. The crystals, however, will always have the text box appear regardless if you have the Pegasus Boots or not. That’s way more annoying than touching rocks without a power bracelet.
you sure vg-adventure? I thought the text comes up if you havent the bracelet equipped, at least
Phantron Uh... I think I said that man.
not really, I said "equipped", not owned :P
I really hope they do the same with the oracle games. A lot of people want a minish cap remake more but that game still looks great today and I feel like the oracle games need it more. After that I’d rather a whole new game.
oracle games had some gorgeous designs too, though in that case I would really want them to at least show those full-bodied designs in some capacity rather than sticking entirely with chibis, because damn.. they were great.
and if it was both games in one, they could justify the price tag a bit more
While I do agree, I may be biased as minish cap was my first game and I think it would fit perfectly with this art style.
@@despacitopotato2665 Maybe so, but they would at least have to use Toon Link again since that was his art design in Minish Cap, otherwise it would just look off.
4:56 The fishing is certainly more in- *depth* now.
@Salacious Crumb no u
Andre would be proud.
Go home Chuggaconroy, your puns hold no power here :p
BlueKirby64 omg.... I hate you 😂😂😂
Nooooooooo
God I hope they remake Oracle of Age & Seasons with this engine.
It'd be easy to do so it's possible. Ez money for them
I have been wanting a remake of those games since they announced this...
They could use this style to pretty much remake all the old top town Zelda games. I would not complain at all if they did that.
I desperately want this
@@scotty1464 And even zelda 2!
I just want Angler Fish to not be an absolute push over...
I think this game will have to be played in hard mode in order for the bosses to not be push overs
BLOOP BLOOP
GLUG
BLOOP
hooray4paradiddles lol
@@constantconstant8943 Yes i know, I answered before I fully watched the vid. I heard them talk about a "hard" mode. Didn't realise it was just the heart thing and double damage. Thats why. I know its stupidly easy
Good news! He's not a COMPLETE pushover now...you'll actually see him do attacks!
I can not wait until I can enjoy this with my daughter! She 4, loves Link and Zelda games, and I think this one is going to make a huge impression on her! I just can’t wait!
Awesome dad! 😄 Wish I would have a dad like u are.
Yeah, it'll make her cry at the end!
“look at the materials,..
look at the fire,
look at the *water!”*
“It’s just.. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”
People in Link's Awakening: Everyone have a bed to sleep
Meanwhile, people in Pokemon: Well, this is our work place, we are homeless people
Well, Pokemon is a game where humans enslave animals in the wild in order to pit them against each other. Animal abuse is awesome in the Pokemon world.
Jorge Andres Perez calm down peta it’s a game
"That being said, *_aAAAAAA!!"_*
I'm still laughing my ass off XDDD
The Photo Store side quest was great, you actually got a feel for the characters, world and of course the photographer mouse.
hey this is pretty cool
"this replaces the photo store"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Minor correction: The photo Store wasn't in the "original". It was in Link's Awakening DX which, while not a full remake, was an enhanced version with full color and small amounts of new content designed to show off the capabilities of the Game Boy Color when compared to the first Game Boy.
Rip to anyone who bought the DX version if they had the original game boy or the pocket version (the only thing you saw was a screen saying that this game can only be played on the color version)
@@AnimeMangaViewer That's not correct the DX version runs on a classic GameBoy. Only the color dungeon is inaccessible. The Oracle games are GBC only.
@@AnimeMangaViewer
I have the original Gameboy and several Gameboy Color.
This has always been my favorite Zelda game, since playing it back in '93, so I can't wait! I don't love the smooth/plastic art style, myself - I feel like a softer look would've fit the dreamy setting of the game better - but I'm sure I'll grow to like it more over time, once I play it. All the changes shown here look awesome - especially the item management (though I'm not sure how I feel about the Animal Village music choice, lol).
One change I really enjoyed was that pots broke each other when you threw one at them. Also when you collect enough shells for the Koholint sword, you can break them with a slash.
I'm really hoping this studio remakes Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls). You can see one of the characters from it as a cameo in Link's Awakening (and I think in this remake as well, judging from 9:52), since I believe it used the same engine? Basically, it looks and played almost identical to Link's Awakening, except that it was a pseudo RPG, and I think it would look fantastic done in this style. Plus, since we never got a US release, I would love to see it finally make its way overseas.
I hated the text box every time I touched a boulder in the original it was so tedious
I got really annoyed of that and I was never that happy in Link's awakening before when I got that bracelet or how you call it
Then don't press a ! Etc ?
@@davidmarcucci3388 No if you just TOUCH one then the next box comes. And the next box is pretty slow.
@Devin Keenan it goes by way faster tho in the switch version, its awesome!
Thanks makes more sense now 😆😆
Now lets get those Wario land remakes collection, the 3 original ones with the remake treatment + a remaster of VB Wario Land
It's such a crime that that series has dropped off the face of the Earth like it did.
Walther Penne And a “Wario”-inspired price tag to match. Hits me in the feels, man.
Walther Penne Yep. Too bad many wouldn’t get the joke. I’d be funny if that was the price they advertised, but secretly set the official price at $60.
Those graphics is a really BIG change!!
I’m Glad evil Kirby is here!👍
Gamer 0206 He even looks like the Kirb meme.
To be fair, number 2 and 9 were fixed on the next Game Boy Zelda games.
So... no photo club? Because those photo scenes were one of my favourite parts of the game.
I'm a little disappointed about the missing photo club too. I really liked that sidequest and those photos just were something special in this game. I don't think I'll get much out of that dungeon maker...
@@Ray_2112 Yeah, I have zero interest in rearranging dungeons, so losing the photo club and its humour is, well, a net loss.
@@PokeDeses Do you suppose we'll still get to see the scenes where the photos were taken?
I mean, even without photos, I still want to see Link sitting with Marin on the beach overlooking the ocean, etc.
I really hope they didn't remove those little events from the game.
That scene overlooking the beach was part of the story. But I worry about all the other fun scenes with her. And that one with Richard.
@@Sebby_Nineteen Yeah, but you know what I mean. I'm referring to all those optional/secret cutscenes, I'd guess they are still in the game, you simply don't receive a photo of those moments. Which wouldn't even matter since you can screenshot anything you want.
That's what I hope they did, at least.
Camera: *Zooms lovingly in on Link's Awakening*
Me: *Sighs* I see Oracle of Ages right there... I wish that game got more love.
You're not alone there. Hoping it and Seasons get remade too!
Hey, Gamexplain! Can you check if Totaka's Song is still in the game?
Both instances of it?
Edit: Looks like a spanish youtube channel was faster than you guys at showing this off. Yes, both instances are still in the game.
It is
Gamexplain is a channel not a person.
@@CDRiley I was talking to them as a team.
The title screen one wasn't in the original English version. What's the name you have to enter?
@@rjd-kh8et In the japanese release you enter とたけけ (totakeke) and in the german release you enter MOYSE (the translator's name).
As a huge zelda fan who never got the chance to play LA, I'm looking forward to this in a big way.
I still recommend the original.
@@dragonwarriorz1 same but the remake is still very good. I just don't like the change that it got easier.
You can play the original in every device tou currently own.
Honestly, if you want to play Link's Awakening, I'd save your money and get the DX version on the 3ds eshop for 7 bucks. I have yet to see a good reason to pay full price for this game. I'm personally waiting for this game to go on sale somewhere before touching it. Doesn't seem worth it right now.
Honestly, I prefer the Switch version over the Game Boy one. It fixes the imventory stack & other problems.
"You can even knock apples off trees and eat them"
You buried the lede, Jon!
Wow, finally the de-facto sequel to ALttP got this feature implemented, too. Better late than never... ^^
Um. The ORIGINAL didn't have photos. You kids & your fancy schmancy color machines. In my day, we had pea green and 3 shades of graphite and we liked it!
Yeah, that was added in the Color version - it's location was an empty field in the original.
Let's be real - in the last 21 years most people played the DX version since it's the definitive one. So most are probably rather familiar with the DX version than the original one.
Animal Village soundtrack reminds me of Mario Paints music maker.
*Wii Music flashbacks*
@@happycamperds9917 Your right it kind of reminds me of Wii Music bizarre musical interments.
What's the name of that dungeon at 2.44? I don't know how to get to that chest but I can't google it cause I don't know if it has a name
Been having a blast with it so far. I wish you could use the dpad though.
Am I the only one that desperately wants either an OoT or Majora's Mask remake for the Switch?
It's just a matter of time I think. I think that we'll get a different remake game first. A lot of people want Skyward Sword HD. On the bright side Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD could get re-released easily.
@Olivian yeah, that game is probably my favorite Zelda game, I love the different story and the way that the game manages to capture this form of fear in the game and it's just amazing.
@@NintendoHighSchool That makes sense
@Olivian Agreed. I'd personally be okay with some of the changes but I'd prefer the Inverted Song of Time to slow down time by 70% instead of just 50% and the boss battles to be reverted at the very least... except maybe Goht. Goht actually improved in my opinion but only marginally.
I would love them. Dont own a 3ds/2ds :(
I wish they also remade OoA/S in this style as well.
5:20-5:24
The way you said this in the most casual way possible made this joke 10x better than it normally is. I had such a delayed but rather spirited laugh there!
What about thu picture quest? I was hoping for a clear about this. Did remove it? I so, why?
I remember when it was new, playing on the OG Game Boy, loving the switch remake.
I think this going to be a legendary remake. Artstyle is great (imho), controls seems up to par to current standards and not ignoring todays standards and thus making some great improvements. Hopefully the will do some more. And how great would it be to have the first Zelda into current standards and modern gameplay!
what music is playing at 10:42?
I love this game so far, but I miss the photo album sidequest. I kept searching everywhere for the camera mouse’s studio or optional scenes or fluff dialogue by taking escorted characters as far from their destination as possible.
Like I found that the monkey and bow wow fight each other, Dampe and Richard tell you to finish your errand then talk to them later.
I can’t unlock the color dungeon early even when I know the password and the text calls me “a coward” for going out of my way to get to the graveyard before even fighting the first boss. (Only taking the dungeon item and leaving to explore the overworld. Yes it halts the plot but I get to explore, get stronger and get more collectibles out of the way)
Can’t wait to pick this up. This was easily my favorite GB game as a kid behind Pokémon and the Oracle games (hope those get remade too)
Dont buy it. Nintendo is greedy as hell for pricing this at $60
So it was your third favorite game then...
@@barrontrump3943 I agree, its a 11-13hs game.. I mean Cmon...
Joel Johnson never fails, yet another nintentard which doesn’t realize its this blind fanboyism that enables nintendo to be such greedy bastards
I actually prefer the Switch version over the Game Boy one. It fixes the item stacks & other problems that the original has.
I don't get why they removed the photo sidequest in a game that was already pretty light on content, especially compared to modern games.
I mean sure, you can't print out the photos anymore, but who ever did that in the first place?
I don't know anyone who owned a gameboy printer, but we liked the photos anyway.
Why not let us share the pictures online? Or just let us enjoy the silly photos and cute cutscenes.
I mean, it's not like there wasn't enough space for Dampé's house in other places. Why not put him north of the graveyard? That would make much more sense. Plus, that area isn't used for anything else anyway.
A lot of people complained that some of the photos were permanently missable and obscureto get.
@@QuillShott That would've been easy to fix. For the photos that require you to have Marin with you, just let Link ask her out again, later in the game. It's not like she NEEDS to stay in the same place for the rest of the game.
And as for the canalot castle photo, I don't see why that couldn't also be taken later on, whether the gate is open or not. Just add some context sensitive dialog depending on the situation.
"Why did they remove the photos?"
Because there's no point in having them. Especially on switch when you can take screenshots of anything :/
@@Trupera Have you actually seen them though? Or the cutscenes in which you get them? They are really cute and charming, sometimes even funny.
They added a bit of character development, fleshed out the world, added flavor to the game.
They weren't just screenshots. They were memorable moments.
That face of Link when Marin drops on him gets me every time. :P
The OG Link's Awakening did not have that feature. So in essence, it's staying truer to the original release than the DX version.
What do zl and zr do? Are they the same as l and r?
3:21 I love John
Does progress save in a dungeon if you quit the game in the middle of a dungeon, and continue later?
8:05 you can see a now saving symbol in the bottom right hand corner, so I assume so.
3:23 Jon sounds so peacful when he transitions into that
Photo store was a DX version addition, and not present in the "Original" :)
I wish they had keep the photographer mouse and the photos from the DX version
So glad Hero mode is in, especially since I've played the original so many times.
I'm happy that Nintendo seems to be implementing a higher difficulty mode in most Zelda games ever since Skyward Sword.
I don't need Zelda to be like Dark Souls, but sometimes they are so stupidly easy it hurts. Hero/Master modes are always welcome.
Fairy bottles were originally planned for the original game, as you can see from an image in the manual for the GB version, but ultimately dropped. It's nice that they were re-added, making the Switch version more like a Definitive Director's Cut Edition. 🙂
You forgot to mention how warping works even better. When you got mambo song you can use that song to travel activated warp point instantly while original only teleport you to Crazy Trazy shop. Ahh so gooddddd saving tons of time!
The real question is can you still steal from the shopkeeper?
Ya you can access PlayStation did it
"THIEF!! LOL
This was the first thing I tried.....you cannot. and if you can I haven't figured out how, had to pay 200 rupees for a fucking shovel.
shaggyzaccy yeah you definitely can I don’t recommend it though he kills you if you come back in to his shop and that sucks if you want the special ending and also everyone will call you thief.
they censored the design of the shopkeeper's eyes in this remake
This game looks more and more gorgeous each time I see it. I can hardly wait to play it on release day.
are you using the d pad to move, or is movement just completely limited to 8 directions?
I literally JUST finished the game and i reeeally enjoyed it! I'm so glad they changed so very little from the original, and the changes where mainly fixing issues due to tech limitations. It really felt like playing the same one from 1993.
The game looks more adorable every time I see it in action.
I have a few problems with links awakening well only one the stupid every time they say you got a acorn or a pice of power its really annoying
Links Awakening was my first introduction to Zelda aside from the Oracle games. My family only had a Famicom and a GameBoy at the time. I actually liked that you had to redo the puzzles when you reenter the room and the multiple warping since I felt it made me have to remember the layout more and makes it challenging for me. I love the game and I will buy it soon once I can take more titles off my backlog.
Oh my god this video makes me feel old. It came out 26 years ago!?
27 now or 28
I hope we get a remake of the Oracle games with this art style 💗
"... replaces the photo shop from the original."
There are a couple times where you talk about things that new added in the GBC DX rerelease like they were there from the start. Sorry to knitpick but I LOVE this game.
Great vid though, learned some good things. Thanks!
I love what they've done so far (not played it yet) - the Animal Village thing sounds like a nice touch.
The original "The Legend of Zelda" remade for the Switch in this style. Now that would be an epic game.
if they do a link to the past like this i will buy it instantly
I call those warp "sink hole gust" but sadly they removed it on the remake.
Oh the feels. I got my original grey gameboy back in I think 1992 with this game bundled. Ill be 35 next month lol. I was in 2nd grade then
the new button set-up was great.
I had Rock’s Feather assigned to X and then only ever changed Y to whatever i needed. Much easier
Same here. The feather is just too useful to drop.
I love this so much! I feel like a $60 price tag is a bit too much though.
Did anyone else get a Links Awakening ad?
Edit: I got 2
i really want to see how the photo album will look, i hope it uses the anime aesthetic from the opening
I can imagine Link’s camera is just the owl holding the camera up
This guy: This is the best looking game on switch
Zelda Breath of the Wild: Am I a joke to you.
YES
Right??
"fishing is alot more in depth" even though that's not on purpose I hate you for it
Cmon, I loved the photo shop. The pictures were sooo cute. I would love it back in some way. It was super cute and fun to find photos
I really hope they still kept the cutscenes that you get for the photo sidequest. Those were one of my favorites!
No!
I can't live without the Roc Feather on A!
On x then? 😐
Hopefully, they also implemented a controller config screen along with all that new eye candy. ;)
I just don't feel like there's going to be enough to justify the 60 American dollar price tag.
Screen transitions I can live without, but I am gonna sorely miss constantly opening you inventory to change items because that produced my favorite sound effect in the entire game.
I played the DX version on my 3ds years ago and I never knew there was a post game it was just on the end screen forever
Also wasn’t that apple tree thing in link between worlds
Change 13: it now costs $60 for the same 10 hours of content
When’s a link to the past switch going to be announced?
We had an Link to the Past style. It's Link Between Worlds on the 3DS.
Quite honestly, the rocks is the least of my worries though. It’s the crystal pillars that gets on my nerves. Regardless of getting the Pegasus Boots or not, that message constantly appears whenever you graze the pillar. Even if it’s accidental. I think it was a design oversight or something. But anyways, glad that it’s fixed.
I hope that Totaka’s Song is in the remake. Totaka’s Song is in it three times (Although the one that is in the File Select screen is only available in the Japanese version and the other one is unused). Would be cool to hear it again at Prince Richard’s house and at the file select screen.
The photo store isn't in the original, it was added in the DX version for the GBC.
I’ll never understand why people whine about frame rates so much.
I'm the same. I don't mind playing games on 30fps as long as the frame stays mostly constant. When frames constantly dip and rise by many frames, that's when it becomes an issue for me. I did notice very minor stuttering when playing Links Awakening on the switch however, I only really started to take notice of it when someone pointed out the framerate issue.
Exactly. It's that it changes. But if you'll never understand, it's a moot point.
Monsters not respawning, not sure how I feel about that. While it was enjoying it kept the challenge consistent. In dungeons that require a lot of trial and error, they will now get awfully empty fast.
So all I gathered is that you’re so butthurt. And no. BotW is a 2 year old game as that is a 2017 game.
I would like to here what's new closer to the end of the game, if any thing is added in post game for example. I mainly want to know if there is any thing vital awarded for no death runs, no death hero run. 3 heart run, no hit run etc
My favourite change was that they removed the jumpscary electric shock effect when you hit those electric green blobs with your sword.
No loading is a good trade off for a temporary FPS drop. Though I wonder why they couldn't pre-load in the background, like God of War 2 did. The Switch should at least be as powerful as a PS2.
Lol I thought that the title said big Chungus in link’s awakening
What about seashells? The original had 26 but after you get 21 and obtain the L2 sword any you didn't get in the world disappear and you can never get them. Also if there are more seashells what else can they be used for besides L2 sword after 21?
4:54 that's pretty heavy glass for an empty bottle. or is it filled with a vacuum?
Also, how come that when Itchy used the cow's mouth as a xylophone....
5:23
RIP Skyward Swords hero mode, not getting noticed
The game itself it's already hero mode lol
@@gabrielcajina3724 What do you mean? Skyward Sword was easy as hell.
@@SchrollShepard yeah I know, the controller it's the true challenge for me
@@gabrielcajina3724 I myself never had any problems with the controller, but I can understand other people had.
If they ever remake/remaster that game, let's hope they find a way to fix that issue.

I'm so pumped for this game. Less than 1 week!
Your copies of the oracle games look so clean
Got the boxes too?
can you still save and quit to get to the last entry-point?
This game looks amazing, it feels like such a fun time to play. I just wish they added more to warrant the $60 price tag. I suppose we'll have to see what reviews say.
3D dot Game Heroes would be good on the switch.
@@DeltathRiylaan you're not the only one. Awesome game
The Tal Tal Heights theme is this game is GORGEOUS
I hope there is an update that let's us share dungeons we've made online.
Yeah it looks like a good remake, but I’m really not sure it justifies the $60 price tag. I’ll wait for a used copy or something.
Yeah man I agree and wantit. If it was PlayStation it would be like $40. Will get it black Friday though maybe of its at least $10 cheaper.
If you don't care about keeping the game forever you could just sell it on ebay after you finish and get all your money back. Thats what i do
