any ideas where the vapour canister is located? I have gas smell when vent is running at times.. no smell anywhere when car is off.. hard to troubleshoot this one.

Typically the vapor/charcoal canister is in the rear of the car typically not too far from where you fill the car with fuel. A lot of times it will be tucked behind the bumper. However, I'm not sure of it's location exactly on this car. Sounds like you could have a bad rubber vent hose if you are not seeing any fuel on the ground.

@@TheInteriorAutoMechanic its dry, no check engine lights and only smell the gas at times and vent has to be on. I think the vent is sucking air in from the front of the car, just below the windshield so I'm thinking its something under the hood but I can't smell it when hood is open, even when car is running. I looked in the back and nothing there, no smell in the trunk, even removed all the panels. Maybe where the fuel vapours get sucked back into the intake from the canister is not working. I found the purge valve you mentioned and perhaps this is the problem? The car has a aftermarket intake but the problem started recently, and the intake has been on there for over a year.
