Susan, I designed your tiny house!! It brings tears to my eyes seeing how you live in and enjoy it, and I love your feedback and how I can improve future designs. I wish you all the happiness in the world ❤.
I LOVE it that she's being so honest about a lot of these newfangled appliances that most of us haven't had the chance to use, like the vent-less washer/dryer and tank-less water heater! You don't usually hear about things they're less than happy about. It's usually like it's all just unicorns and daisies. I learned a lot from this video. I also love that she's honest about being sick and tired of working, the early mornings and hassles of it. I'm getting to that point and I don't feel like such a weakling when I hear other people say it. Thank you, Susan! Your tiny home is awesome.
Flower, I feel the same. Hearing these stories does inspire me too and take the leap to retire earlier. I'm racking my brains all the time to see 8f I can afford it or work less hours.. Good luck dear.. 💐
I am not interested for myself now but always google "regrets" and some people are very honest about why they had some, what they did to improve, why they sold etc. One thing I saw on THNation show was that 80% or more were on Tiny House Listings within a year or two. They never could get money back and being on a TV show doesn't translate to someone wanting to pay 20,000 more for yours. If you are retiring, it's fine or using it as AirBNB I'd never do it if I wanted to resell.
Funny you’d say that. I was so, so tired of getting up before 6am, doing overtime, dealing with nonsense, commuting, dealing with crowds at the train station. So, I retired. I love it.
I like the configuration of the kitchen. It doesn’t take up too much space, and it also enables people to move by the cook or dishwasher without creating a blockage. I also like the shorter rise on the stairs. Even stairs in most conventional houses have a rise that is higher than people my age (75) prefer. Susan is right about the safety of going up and down the stairs. Thanks for sharing your home. It is beautiful.
Hi Susan! This is a nice Doll house and it was nicely made. Glad you have a loft you can walk around in. It is very nice. Love your little dog too. Wish you many years of much happiness with your home.
Susan's home is lovely! Its so well thought out, and organied, and spacious! I love her porch. Very safe. Love her huge bathroom, especially that beautiful sink! Im glad for her safety her stairs are shorter. Her loft is very nice--I would opt for a full sized bed as well. Best wishes Susan!❤
I got my daughter that Ikea table used for her apartment. Great buy at 100 with 4 chairs. I think 160000 seems very high but sometimes the tiny homes don't have high quality materials and items. If she could afford it, it's beautiful. Kitchen is lovely. Too bad she couldn't get washer/dryer for that money. Everyone complains about those washers. ; ) Bathroom sink is so pretty.
Hi Susan, You have a great home. I live in a smalls studio apartment so I understand about space/storage constraints. I just have a couple of suggestions… 1) Find out about getting your water heater INSIDE. That, I’m betting will help with getting hot water faster, or if for some reason it can’t be moved in now, I HIGHLY suggest you have it and the water lines REALLY well insulated. I don’t know which end of your house the water heater is connected to but I’m thinking they might be able to put it in that alcove space where are the litter box used to be. 2) When I saw your stairs, the first thing that I thought of was one of those chairs that they mount that goes up & one just sits on it, and rides. They have seats & arms that fold up out of the way if need be. Please consider that because even if the stair risers aren’t as high as regular ones and you have a handrail, one of those chairs would be a lot safer. I have bad knees and I think about these things. 3) Please consider getting a shower chair. I currently have a stool & I’m going to get a chair version. They are height adjustable so you could have it just right for you. It’s safer than just a grab bar. 4) LOL…this is the last one… Please also consider getting handrails for your deck/patio stairs. Take care, enjoy life and be safe. Peace & Blessings, Kevin
Thank you for your suggestions Kevin. I have thought of that chair lift lol. For now, the exercise is good for me. The issue with the water heater is the water pressure here. On demand heaters need good water pressure to work properly and consistently. Take care!!
I have heard some complaints from others about the length of time a washer-dryer combo takes to do a load. I also wonder at the ease of getting repairs done. And since it is ventless, the humidity gets released into the home, to a certain extent.
Great home for a retired gal. As a retired woman with major health issues I could not do stairs like that. Small Community of homes as these is appealing
Beautiful tiny home! Standing up in the loft bedroom is key. Even if she ever needed more storage, her planned new mattress can sit on an elevated platform with pull out drawers.
Or better yet, one with a lift-up mattress, which give full access to the storage without being blocked if your space is too narrow to pull out the drawers.
It's nice but seems too expensive. I would assume you could never sell it for that price. I sometimes worry that these people are being taken advantage of by these builders.
Some haven't been great, some close and leave buyers in the lurch, some make homes with faults that are hard to fix. I hope she has many happy years in hers but I'm not sure why the high cost. I've seen others that were 100,000 and "luxury"
@@cindystebbins3022 You can get a tiny home cheaper than that with one floor. I've seen many online but quality, I'm sure it varies. The bad thing is that it doesn't increase in value but if not selling it's fine. The younger ones who buy, I don't see the value.
@@susankupersmit5932 Good for you! It's so important to know what you need and stand up for it. Your house is lovely, and practical. I wanted to mention to you that beds made for RVs offer a 48" X 75", to give you more accessible space in your loft. You can also have a gas strut lift mechanism installed for storage under the mattress.
I love your home and decor. The layout and all the windows bring in so much light. I downsized from 1500 sq. ft. To just over 1000. I got rid of so much unnecessary items in the move. Now as I go through my current home, I am picturing a tiny home similar to this home and it helps to have this in mind as I decide to keep an item or not. If it will fit in a tiny home, it stays, otherwise it goes!!
You have to pay a fortune to lease the spot. That fee can go up at any time, and the owner can sell out: this is not "future-proof". Plus, these "homes" are categorized as mobile homes (trailers) and have to comply with mobile home regulations at HUD; hey don't have to comply with regular building codes, which are a lot more stringent and safety-oriented.
Beautiful home Susan. Your bathroom sink is gorgeous, reminds me of the ocean. A new chapter of independence and adventure with affordability. I wish you all the best. 💐
Really nice home and I like the layout. She made a lot of smart choices for her safety and because of her age. The one thing that may be a problem down the road is the upstairs bedroom. All in all, beautiful home.
thank you for your job Jenna! your tours make me happy, because I see a lot of happy people who lives in their dreams and I hope I'll be one of those people very soon.
Susan! I don’t know if you’ll see this but i love the artwork, especially the Flying Chorizos! Where did you find it and who is the artist? Happy Retirement to you 😊
Lovely home, but kind of surprised someone retired, investing money in a custom tiny home, wouldn’t design one with the bedroom on the same level and not do steps.
Can someone talk about the care of the tires and do they need replacing every few years? Who would you call to change tires if needed? Does every tiny house need the product Damp-Rid? Thank you.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada there's an actual tiny house in Toronto its permanent 400 square feet if you google it as Torontos tiny home it will appear including the address its all 1 room with lane way parking thanks for today's presentation
I love the stairs wth drawers. Maybe not as sturdy in a way but I wish they'd have that in regular homes at least at the bottom. Great for things you need while running out or cords etc.
Susan I loved your home. But the biggest mistake you made was not having your bedroom on the main floor. One fall down those stairs you will not be able to access your bedroom.
In a lot of cases, having to move in different ways (eg climbing stairs) keeps a person in better shape as they age. There is no reason to think she’s going to fall down them. They aren’t steep and the railing is solid. The worst fall I ever had down stairs was when I was 16, and I learned to be a lot more careful on stairs.
Hi pretty jenna!!! Love your channel, a subsciber for a long time.❤❤ Being an animal lover, sure would like to know what kind of pup that is.😊 Love her house. Im 1-2 years right behind this lady, wanting to do the same thing. She's going to regret getting stairs though, but she could always look into taking them out & put in a open chair elevator lift. Flat roofs are NEVER a good idea, should of gotten an arched or sloped roof. Hmmm somethings not right with having to wait for hot water, she should have it checked out on demand is what it means, no waiting.

Yes, pocket communities like this are needed everywhere.

An rv would be more affordable not pleasing to the eye but you would have slide outs and two rooms on single floor for 30 to 40k new.
