@@six0bros yes it is . I just started a tow buinsess a year ago a bought a 7.3 snatch truck 70k miles and swaped a 6.7 nose on it . I am now looking to upgrade and seen a 2011 with 120k miles glad now I didn't buy it . I will now only look for 13 and up .
I only keep a truck for 3 years my 16 seemed to go in regen mode every 2nd tank full of diesel my 2019 burns cleaner oly regens around 1500 hundred miles @six0bros
@phillipgarrow2297 I know on my 16 and my 15 my Regens happen probably less than 500 miles. Now towing it typically wouldn't regen because it runs hotter towing.
@@six0bros nothing has worn out, other than tires and brakes, but that's about it, I change oil and fuel filters regularly.. i don't beat it either.. the truck has a steel flatbed though for hauling livestock trailers..
Man that's awesome I would have expected a turbo or exhaust manifolds leaking or something. I also would consider those things completely acceptable replacements at your mileage. That said man that is pretty awesome
I have a 2017 F350 XLT with the 6.7. I bought it with 36,600 miles and I am now about to turn 105,000. I religiously change the oil every 5,000-7,000 miles and change the fuel filters every other oil change. Maintenance is definitely key. It is my daily driver and my dream truck. This truck is a beast. I pull a mini-ex with 24", 12" buckets and shaker head and also a skid steer. This truck doesn't even think twice about it. I also pull my 36' 10,000# travel trailer. The exhaust brake is incredible. This video has definitely made me feel good about my purchase.
I've had a 2005 F250 6.0 for years now. It's bulletproofed and has 312,000 miles. I pull my gooseneck with a telehandler around and gross weight is 32,000 lbs when loaded. It's a beast! But I'm going to turn it into my service truck and I'm thinking of buying a 2016 F350 DRW 6.7 Lariat. I have been abusing my F250 pulling 24k lbs all the time and I'm hoping the 6.7 can do just as much or better!
The 6.7 is amazing at how it pulls, and the extra gear in the transmission is great. I'm still a huge fan of the 6.0 and when the right mods are done they are absolutely amazing at pulling. That said I've never pulled the weights he is so I can't comment on that much
They have proven to be great trucks. Granted all new trucks have a lot of stuff that can cause additional problems. It is part of the downside to all the increase in performance
This information makes feel a little better about my 2015, 6.7L F-250, presently at 36,500 miles having had two emission codes pop up in the last 2 years. factory limited warranty and extended warranty covered them. Extended warranty is expiring in 8 months. Here lately my anxiety level has started to increase because I got on the internet and visited the forums and found many Ford diesel owners having issues. I am 75 and when I bought this truck new I figured it would be the last truck for me. I'm still hoping for that. I really love the truck a King Ranch version and don't want to trade it in on a Gasser.
I am in the same boat as you Wilbur. I have about 12000 left on my extended warranty. I just had my DEF tank heater replaced and if I didn't have the extended W it would have cost me 1350 bucks. I also bought the extended service contract and they change my oil every 7500 to 8500 miles and change the diesel filters every other service. I put a Transfer flow external tank on my truck and that has a filter on it to so I am filtered 3 ways! I have the 2016 F-350 dually King Ranch.
I have a 2013 king ranch f350, I’ve upgraded to the Garett 37, new style fuel pump, shaved heads, lifters, cam, studded, ex Lynk tune, delete egr. Total $13,500 Canadian dollars, truck hauls great plus great fuel mileage. I was going for a newer yet but after doing all that I am 1000% happy with the upgrade, I recommend if you have a older year do the upgrade save some cash.
2015 & 2016 have a issue with cold side pipe blowing off while under load. Most have happened while towing. I have 16 lariat and changed mine with a absolute performance one for 275 bucks.
2011’s had a bottom end issue specifically spun crank bearings. My old company had an 11 bone stock @180,000 it shutoff pulling out of a gas station found out it lost the bottom end bearings. That stopped me for a long time from buying one. My buddy said he had a 14 with a 250 horse tune and zero issues for 200,000. Just bought a 14 last week and can’t wait to go pick up when I get back in town. Great video man thanks 👍
2011 Lariat that I bought new. I now have 164,000 kilometers (102,000 miles) on it with nary an issue. Used mainly in the Rocky Mountains and for city driving. This truck excels in cold weather and summer. I've had great fuel economy in the summer (21MPG US) unless I'm towing my big 5th wheel (15MPG US) which is also about what I get during cold Alberta winters. Best truck I've ever owned and I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.
GVWR is 13,639 lbs. After towing two seasons my mechanic noticed the side walls of my rear tires showed signs of stress. Not only did he recommend getting new tires (if I continued towing), but suggested installing a Firestone Air Bag kit with on board compressor. I did that. I am running Michelin Defender XLT's and have seen I bought the truck. Great tires and I feel that has helped with the fuel mileage.
I own a 2016 F350 SRW and a 2005 F250. Both are great and fun to drive. My 6.0 has over 300k and will become my son's truck in April 2020. It was bullet proofed by powerstroke specialty in Bufford,Georgia.
No problem. I mean anything can happen but from my research they seemed to have them pretty squared away in 13. Though even the "bad" years overall seem pretty good
I'm not saying they are not out there or can't be but I'm just saying they are at a higher incident of issues. Also we're they original engines? I have seen several trucks at 700k+ but they are on engine number 2
I live in Michigan I bought my first F250 6.7 in 2017. My truck was a 2012 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania with 78,000 miles on it. I just sold it 5 days ago with 193,000 miles on her. I loved that truck. Nothing but general maintenance for five years. So I took that money and bought a 2022 F250 XLT same as my other power stroke except I have a crew cab instead of a super cab. Let me tell ya 😳big difference. I’m in love again… 🥰
@@six0bros I was laughing at his "I’m in love again… 🥰" Today I bought a 2015 F250 Lariat 6.7L crew cab 4x4 3" lift. 118xxx miles. Mint condition, not even a gooseneck hitch on it. $38,000 I hope it was a good buy. I'm here looking for more information on these trucks. Your video was great.
I had a 2005 she was a very good at 100,000 I traded in for a 2008 what a very big mistake , always having egr problems. Now I have a 2016 and I'm very happy with her almost at 100,000 on her with the only problem of a small leak in radiator. She's a keeper. Thanks good imfo
I have a 2016 F350 dually, great truck. No issues in 2 years ownership. Only thing noticeable, is the tranny doesn't like it when its not warmed up. Once its in operating temp, no issues. Just seems sluggish when cold. Its also a rough ride, like no suspension lol. Also has the Death wobble, happened to me twice, so I'm careful to avoid big potholes or bridge seams.
He probably has a couple issues i bet track bar ball joint and track bar not being tight enough is his death wobble issues the no suspension feeling is more like the cab mounts are shot.
Love my 2013...even though I have it deleted and had to replace a turbo with a 2017 retrofit kit and 2015 HPFP. Thing runs amazing after those upgrades.
@@six0bros I get about 16-18 depending on how I feel like driving. Also depends on the tune but when I keep it in the Tow tune, it typically gives me the best mileage.
@@six0bros I honestly did it primarily for reliability. The better MPG is just an added bonus. I will be putting on a new Stage 1 Whistler for the 6.7 by KC Turbos soon as well so hopefully that’s even better.
I am reviewing the canned sct tunes then switching to the custom tunes I have. I am hoping when I drive ready I can get a few extra mpgs but we will see.
@@six0bros If the custom tuning is done right, it shouldn’t smoke much at all and the mileage will almost always be better. Hell, mine still passes emissions with flying colors here in AZ. Lol
Nice man. The most miles I have seen on a 2011 is like 345,000ish. Guys turbo went out but he kept driving it while hooked to a trailer. Bad day for him
@@six0bros lol, that's one way to torture test a 6.7. My truck has been deleted by the previous owner. 67 service records, with all the repairs by Ford. I had it flashed with a towing tune so I'm basically still around the factory horsepower and boost. Hopefully this one will last. If not, then the turbos are easy enough to get to I can replace it myself. Wish me luck! Cheers!
They can be expensive when things go bad but there are products to help make it better such as the higher end disaster prevention kits from spe and ss fuel
My 2011 was deleted at just over 100k and now has over 285k on it. Trouble free thus far. Longevity comes down to ownership and maintenance. I’ve seen company trucks with multiple drivers, in and out of shop constantly.
A huge part of it comes down to ownership and maintenance. I'm general the statements made in the video are accurate however they do not represent every truck from each year there are plenty of 11s out there with a ton of miles on then
@@six0bros my 6.7 has served me almost flawlessly. However, I listen to this and the valves causing a replacement engine do concern me. My Turbo does talk to me a little when it’s cold. The ceramic bearings are also highlighted here. Know that I give my truck everything it needs when it needs it.
So the 2011 model year that had valve issues would have almost definitely happened by your mileage. I believe most of the 2011s rlthat had the issue were built on the earlier side of 2010. If your turbo does go out it has long outlived the normal life of any vgt turbo. You could replace it when the time comes and you'll have the upgraded bearings or you could upgrade to the 2015 style but that is a greater expense. You clearly take good care of that truck because at that mileage normally people have had a few issues. Has it needed anything outside the normal?
Thanks Joe! I really appreciate it. I am hoping to tow the white truck to some events this year. Just need to find a trailer to tow it with and to get the white truck running again
I went from a 2011 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax to a 2019 Tundra (because we bought a smaller camper and didn’t need an HD). Now we want a bigger camper so I just traded the Tundra for a 2015 F-350 King Ranch with the Power Stroke. It’s definitely quieter than my old Duramax and feels a little more powerful. So far I think the Duramax was a little better on the MPG though, but I haven’t put enough miles on the Ford to say for sure yet.
Both are great diesel engines for sure. The poweratroke makes more power for sure. My biggest criticism is really I feel mine had frequent regens, but it was also not taken care if prior to me so that may have had something to do with it
@s.cservices2850 both trucks are going to be very similar. I have actually towed with both trucks a duramax and a powerstroke. They will both perform incredibly similar. If you go powerstroke I would get a 2015 or newer they do perform better than the 11-14 ones with a bit better reliability. Overall I do prefer the bit higher hp and torque from the powerstroke but honestly overall they are very very similar, and you would be happy with both.
@s.cservices2850 in my experience they are very similar to one another. Here is a video comparing it to a very modified 6.0 powerstroke. Towing. In my experience my 2016 f250 is getting very similar while towing to the 2015 lml I reviewed in this video. That said I did push my 6.7 a little harder but overall similar driving both Towing my camper were a bit under 10mpg like 9.8 average ruclips.net/video/TmkCDlsa4Eo/видео.html
The 2014 power stroke is my dream truck. I figured that was last of the gen so it should be solid. Thank you so much for the video and info I seriously plan on picking up this truck considering Cummins and duramax are way more expensive even though powerstroke got the most horsepower !!!
The 2014s are solid trucks. I believe the 15s are better but I believe 13 to current are all amazing trucks you definitely love your 14 when you get it
best 6.7 is Gen 3! (17-19) I was lucky for a 2019 to land in my hands while waiting for my custom 2022. Not being able to delete the 2022 as easy (need to remove and send in the computer?) plus a 6 speed transmission being more reliable and durable than the new 10 speed.. couple weeks ago decided to keep it! Not to mention the issues stated here.
They are super expensive is really my issue with the newer ones but I believe they are doing well. That said as I plan to buy another 6.7 at some point I will probably settle into the 17-19 but I will still consider the 15-16
Only thing I do not like about mine 2014 F250 Lariat 4x4. When it goes into “Engine Idle Exhaust issue” has to go to the dealership or a delete needs to be done. I was able to get the check engine light to go off, I was not able to get it out of Idle only mode. I should be able to work on my own stuff, since I own it, without having to buy a programmer or going to the dealership and paying $150 an hour.
I agree with this 100% have you heard of forescan? It seems to be pretty cool and may help with some of that stuff. I havent hooked my forescan up to this truck yet but I believe you can mess with some of those things without having the Ford scan software
Own a 2002 f350 crew cab lariat with the 7.3 powerstroke engine. Truck has 360,000 miles and has been nothing but neglected and treated poorly. Still running on original turbo and Transmission. Just normal maintenance. Got the 2017 f250 6.7 powerstroke with maxed out lariat package. Truck has 167,000 miles. Love the truck and would never buy anything different!
I've got a 2000 7.3 Excursion with 218xxx on it. Stuff wears out when your rig is old enough to vote. But I still hate the steering! Been looking at 6.7s but we are on a budget. The price and availability of trucks is nuts right now. Ill give it a year to sort itself out. But leaning towards 15-17.
@arie_lovexi the 12s are a decent year. Biggest concern on twelve is really from the turbo. If it hasn't had a replaced turbo it has the original ceramic bearings that are known to not be super durable. However overall very solid trucks. I would probably replace glow plugs as I have heard some say pre 13 there was an issue with some but nit all seem to have it.
I had a pre 4/11 truck that dropped a valve at 55k. Supposedly it got replaced with a 13 upgraded engine and turbo. Ran great all the way to 247k miles before I got rid of it. I would scare me to buy one of these trucks that was out of warranty. Anything breaks you are going to be out some serious $
@@jerrypolete5258 in Pennsylvania. I was thinking about trying to maybe get a meet together, or inviting people to show their trucks on the channel. So stay tuned may be something I do in the future
While yes there are many people that have had great success with early year trucks you cannot argue that the issues I have talked about are more common amongst those years. However I also day that even the "problem years" have proven to be excellent trucks. Please don't take what I said personally. Only trying to bring facts out. I never said the early ones were bad trucks.
I intend to upgrade trucks this year. I’ve had Super Duty trucks for 14 years. I’d like to get a lariat crew long bed 6.7 truck, but I’m really worried about fuel system problems and turbo issues. I’m also concerned about the complexity of the design overall. The complex cooling systems worries me as a failure point down the road. As much as I’d like stick with a Super Duty, for me I think that I’ll end up with a 6.7 Cummins powered Ram.
do not go with a cummins lol. Both are excellent options. there are not really issues with the cooling system. Now the fuel system I can understand however the powerstroke does not have the same failure rate as the duramax does because they have a factory lift pump. There are also kits to help minimize any potential issues. at the end of the day both trucks are great.
@@six0bros how is it a stretch? You realize how many Cummins are out there with a million miles? Where are all the million mile fords? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against the NEWER fords, that’s why I’m watching these videos. Trying to find one
The 6.0 definitely had its issues. I do really like them. I'll never get rid of my problem child truck the 6.0 although in the scheme of things it's been good to me but not everyone has had that experience. The 6.4 international couldn't have messed up more if they tried lol. I think the 6.7 cummins is an excellent overall engine. I just think sometimes people put it in the same class as their larger engines and people sometimes ignore other things with the trucks as a whole. I will say I like that they got away from the cp4 pump quickly and so did gm. Ford for a couple different reasons is hanging on but at least the after market has finally fixed that. I'm off topic now haha, but I don't feel the current dodge truck with a cummins is as good a truck as the Chevy and ford's. Just to be clear though all 3 truck brands are absolute monsters. They all will tow anything you want with good ride quality nice interior. Trucks today have all gotten insanely good
It’s awesome! Have a 2020 Platinum, just rolled 15k miles with lots of towing and off road use at my deer lease. I had a 2018 350 before this truck so I can tell a difference for sure.
This video really helped. I'm getting a 2014 F250 only 102,000 mi. But I'm using to OTR hotshot. Can it hang? What should I be on lookout for in long hauling with 6.7L?
how has the truck been? sorry for being so late to respond. the biggest thing is really keeping on top of oil changes and fuel filter changes. I would keep an eye on your temps (exhaust, oil, coolant, trans) I would monitor boost, exhaust back pressure, and fuel psi and have an idea of where they sit so if something is off it will help you be able to tell maybe if you have a boost leak or if your fuel psi is lower than normal maybe a sign of an issue
My dad had a 2013 F350 and the coolant hose clamps broke and the hoses leaked. He has a 2017 now and it runs great! He loves his new truck. Also he had really good luck with the 6.4L powerstroke, which most people don’t seem to like them.
@@hilljackzack7284 the 6.4 is a monster of an engine with just a high failure rate. Now I will say the steel pistons that kill devil diesel has for them is a game changer. That was always my hang up is the idea that you can do nothing wrong even run factory tuning and still crack a piston. If the channel one day is big enough to do it I would love to do a 6.4 build.
6.0 Bros you’ll get there someday. And yes the stock pistons on the 6.4L are junk but you can find some good ones that work well with a lot of extra power.
Thanks man. I hope so. This channel has been able to help a lot of people and entertain some with my nonsense lol. I want to continue to do that. The 6.4 I think it was the maxxforce pistons were an upgrade and I firmly believe steel pistons are a game changer
My 2015 F250 6.7L filled up at a Murphy station and got a lot of water into my tank from them. Ford dealer charged 18.6K to replace both fuel pumps, filters, injectors, fuel rails, clean out lines and fuel tank. I had to replace a leaking radiator another time as well as the right rear smoot sensor yesterday which was throwing codes. Thanks for your video.
while it does happen in these newer trucks it is the fords are not quite as prone to it. since they have a factory lift pump to supply fuel to the cp4. some say the newer pump in the 15s and newer are more reliable, however there is nothing to actually prove that to be true. they simply flow a little more fuel.
@@six0bros I just had to replace a cp4 in my 2012 duramax crane truck. Pump grenaded at 230k miles, wiped out all 8 injectors. Needed pump, injectors, fuel lines, tank flush, new rails. 6 grand later its running again. I put the disaster prevention kit on all 3 of my 6.7 powerstrokes now.
the 2009 6.4 powerstroke is a very strong engine however there are some issues with them that they are not the most reliable. they have an above average rate of cracking piston. they have slightly less rate of blowing head gaskets over the 6.0 powerstroke, oil cooler is the same as a 6.0. overall they are ok trucks, but they do scare me a little bit. I would like to one day do a build on a 6.4 powerstroke but I would be looking at upgrading the pistons to fix the in my opinion worst issue they have.
I would go for the 2013. Had better bearings in the turbo updated glowplugs. 2013 in my opinion was the first year they really had it together. The 12s are not bad either but the 13 is slightly better
Looking at a 2011 lariet 4x4 w 108k on it. Has a great carfax so I’m hoping it can last me at least 250+. I’m very tedious w maintenance to say the least so I think it will
Best advice I can give is follow all fluid change intervals with filters. Use diesel from high use stations so you're getting good fresh diesel. I am a big advocate for monitoring these trucks I can send you a link to devices I recommend.
I just got a 2015 from the lot today . It’s a 6.2 gas v8 xl base model it’s gonna be my new work truck so far I love the truck . Just don’t know how to use all the buttons yet
they have a lot of stuff in them right? Hey well there is still stuff you may like on the channel I am redoing all the suspension on it right now. just started editing a video about wheel bearings, ball joints axle seals
Thank you. I will be looking into that further for the next update video on it. There are a few things I have heard about that I didnt put in here as I am still looking for information on the topics
I know he's referring to diesel engines in pickup trucks when he says this is this is the first diesel Ford has built themselves, I just want to say that they built their own diesel tractor engines for 52 years before they built their first 6.7.
I really want a 15-16 but all i can afford at the moment is the 13-14 models. Im just really scared about the turbo deal with the 11-14s … and i also want the exhaust brake :(
The 11-14 still have an exhaust brake just it doesnt have it's own separate button like 15 and newer. Bd diesel does have a product that gives it its own button. As for the turbos bd diesel also has an upgrade that keeps all the 11-14 parts but has a drop in 15 and up turbo. So there are some options out there to help.
@@six0bros my dad has an 11 and has never had a problem with the turbo only problems he’s had is mud getting stuck in the wheels causing a shake at higher speed and squirrels also got into his air filter and messed up something else but other than that he hasn’t had problems with it
There are some guys worth great luck but I think it is pretty accepted that the 11 is more prone to issues than other years. Still lots of 11s with high miles and minimal issues if any
I like all American made heavy duty trucks. And I believe a lot of issues people have with them is lack of maintenance. However, in my opinion of the best truck out the door for reliability, 2017-2019 L5P duramax w/6 speed Allison (not the 2020+ 10 speed). If I had it my way, it would be a 6.7 in a 2017+ ford super duty with the 6r140 ford transmission. But that’s me.
I like the l5p they are pretty cool trucks and they did a great job. Do you not like the 10 speed? I really wanted a 2018 super duty so bad but they were just a tad to expensive at the time
I owned a 2011 2016 and now 2019. I miss the 2016. Hate this 2019. Long story. runs good but many other changes. If I could I would revert. I'm screwed.
Got a 7.3 2000 been looking for a newer truck over 300000 miles hate to get rid of it but the wife has really beat up the fenders only needs new glow plugs
Do you have any info about adding a block heater on the 15 model year? My truck came from Texas and was not optioned with one but I’d like to add it if it’s not super expensive
I can look into this but make sure to crawl under your truck first and double check. My dad told me his 7.3 didnt have one either, then I went under to prove him wrong and bam block heater lol. It would be a very weird option not to have on that truck though in all honesty. My 6.0 went to southern California and came with a block heater
6.0 Bros thank you any info is appreciated. I did look under it for a while and came up empty handed. The truck came from an oilfield in south Texas from a company that fleet orders several trucks at the same time optioned the same so I’m assuming they chose to leave that out.
The price seems high for the mileage, but with everything going on prices have jumped up a lot. Hard to say. I would struggle to pay that for so many miles
How are you saying this is the only truck with a lift pump? All cummins, kubotas, 7.3 powerstroke, 7.3 idi all have a lift pump supplying the high pressure pump.
Was mainly talking about the big 3 but I forget my exact wording but the duramax doesnt have a lift pump and I know that cummins does have an intank lift pump.
I have seen a lot of 2011s have some really high mileage. I didn't mean to say that they are all bad. Just have a higher failure rate compared to other years. Still a great truck. Ford set the bar really high with these things
GM has not used the CP4 high pressure fuel pump since 2016 Duramax LML. 2017 and newer L5P's use a Denso Pump. There are class action law suits for 2011 to 2016 Duramax with the CP4, 2011 to current 6.7 Ford Powerstroke,'s, and 2019-2020 6.7 Cummins with the CP4. (RAM has gone back to the CP3) The CP4's have a mechanical design flaw and they will fail (not if but when) and spread metal throughout the fuel system. S&S Fueled has an excellent video (on RUclips) on this flaw that will explain in detail. This alone should be deal killer. Too bad that Ford has no problem letting owners be the beta testers. 6.0 failures, 6.4 total garbage, and 2011 -2012, 6.7 engine failures, bad turbo bearings, etc. This along with the continued use of the CP4. Look at the latest recalls on 2021 version of this truck, 10 speed transmission bearing failures, and rear axle tubes collapsing. What's next? No Way, not my money.
Well done gm for the switch. That said I still loved my 6.7 and I I that there needs to be disaster prevention kits but they do reduce issues when one fails. That said I'm sure ford will change when they switch to a different engine block with a redesign at some point. Also any new engine is pretty much beta testing. 9ver the 6.7 is a pretty darn solid truck. Just like I feel the lol and l5p are also solid trucks. I'm not hating on either one and I agree the cp4 pump is not great and I wish the cp4 pump would be fixed in design so there was an option to replace the bad ones.
Great info man! All our trucks are 11-16 6.7 (6 trucks total) plus a couple 11-14 gasers....and I feel like you based your info off my exact issues with those years 😂 spot on man! The two 11 f550 dumps both had the typical first year issues you discussed but they are super reliable regardless and still in our fleet! Love my personal 2015 lariat though def has the exterior of a demolition derby truck lol ( hey excavating business and all) I agree 15-16 all the way. Just picked up a 2016 f350 lariat dually Ford cert. 11k miles one owner today! I’m just not a believer in aluminum trucks yet and a little ocd with my equipment and trucks...I like all the same body styles and colors. 6.7 has been great to us other than few issues...I did want to mention tho...you didn’t say anything about the intercooler hoses blowing off...all but one of our trucks constantly had the hot side blowing off, as well as cold side few times. All have been easily upgraded to the H&S kits....here in WV it’s common at least lol maybe my trucks bad friends are anomalies!? Great video brother love my 11-16 steel bodies and will rock them as long as we can!
Thank man! Like you said even the "bad" years are still amazing trucks. As for the intercooler pipe I actually just upgraded mine to a metal one the other day and did an install video. I think it is a must for most people. In my opinion. That is one of the few upgrades on the truck so far. For the most part it has just been replacing worn out parts from the previous owner
I think they went to aluminum due to rust issues in northern states. Geeze all people need do is spray some rust preventive such as Fluid Film underneath every year and they are good. I simply can not fathom people paying 50+k for a truck and ignoring simple ways to keep rust away. I am in MI and most local trucks have rust. I moved here from wa state 2 yrs ago. I am in the market for a used 2014 or 2015 and i wont by a rusty truck. I will get one from Ohio or farther south or maybe go back out to wa state buy a rust free truck and drive it back. Then simply spray Fluid Film up underneath and it will still be rust free in 20 yrs. I wont be driving it much in winter though it will be incidental use only for towing and hauling and not my daily driver.
I don't think it was rust. Sure that is a positive of it, but I don't think that was it. I do agree just take care of these they nornally are good then
I owned a 2015 F350 diesel SRW until recently. The only issue I had was to replace the windshield wiper motor under warranty. Absolutely no issues with the 6.7. I hope I haven't made a mistake by trading it in on my new F350 2023 7.3 Godzilla gas.
How many mileage you got now? Any issues? We also have a 17 f350 crew fx4 diesel (purchased new) has now 73,500 miles towing our 10,000 lbs. rv trailer twice a month. Truck only been back to the dealer twice since new for wheel alignment and steering stabilizer replacement...I do the basic maintenance since took delivery and no modification(s) or delete.
I thought so but just wanted to make sure. I know the 17s are similar but I do believe there are some internal differences. I have a friend with like 60k on his 17 zero issues for what its worth
Yep just had to replace my DEF heater. 2 days later the DEF injector went out.... deleted it the next week and never looking back. More than worth it man. Once you start having issues with emissions it’s time to delete...
Just bought a 2012 with a FUBAR engine. Originally was told it was the fuel system, then was told the engine is bad. Can I put a newer engine in the truck or does it have to be same year?
@@six0bros it's a high pressure common rail system too, and has a lift pump much like the ford's. These fuel systems inject fuel at different points of the stroke cycle to maximize power and to lower EGTs
I have a 2014 6.7 with 290k miles. Truck hauls a$$ when tuned and tows like a dream. Best investment in a truck I’ve made in a long time. I would personally delete them but have heard of stock ones going for tons of miles if taken care of. Ford baby!!!!!
The best 6.7 PowerStroke is the 2015, because that’s the year I’ve got! Lol actually any 6.7 PowerStroke that’s newer than 2012 since they updated the turbos and if you have the plastic oil pan swap that craziness out for a steel pan.
15 and up the trucks are really stout. I. 13 I believe is when the turbo bearings went to steel and become more reliable but it was still to small. The plastic oil pan is at least an easy fix but kind of annoying. That said I'll replace the oil pan on my 2016 too even though it's metal
@@six0bros yeah I wouldn’t go older than a 15 if I was looking for a 6.7 PowerStroke, and definitely not 11-12 unless you planned on quadin it or building it and putting a bigger turbo in it. Seen where people swap the turbos and have no real issues with them.
Most likely you are good. There are a lot of guys with high mileage 11s that haven't had issues at all. They were the more problematic year but at the same time most that would have had issues probably did by now. That said it could still happen but I would think the bigger stuff would have happened now
@@six0bros every light in the cluster g.j does crazy and the tac and speedo stop working when I shut the truck off it won't start till I wiggle the wiring harness by the emergency brake
I'm looking at a 2015 with 164,000 mi on it and I just wanted to know what to look for visually I'm not a mechanic and I never had a diesel truck before I had a couple of diesel cars before Cadillac and an Oldsmobile and GM had their great idea 7980 so I'm an old guy so I need this just to pull my fifth wheel I'm not going to be hauling commercially and I use it for just you know everyday driver I got rid of my 95 historical crew cab dually 3:51 Windsor engine I was told I should have kept it if I had a diesel mechanic so what do you say
Any records you can get to verify maintenance or recalls performed. See if ford will run the Vin. Check for any error codes. Take it on the highway I would do a pull or 2 with it just give it some good throttle. With a scan tool check fuel psi. Oil leaks can be expensive or a sign of the ccv filter needing replaced. Oil leaks around lower and upper oil pan, valve covers as well.
You are spot on!!! I subscribed, you know what you're talking about. I too have a 2015 F350. I have the Lariet Longbed Supercab 11,300, very hard to find. I'm a contractor I use it for work. I live in Tacoma WA and bought mine in Tampa FL last March with 17,000 on the clock and drove it back. I love it! I get 26mpg if I keep my foot out of it. :-)
@@six0bros true. I have a 2016 KR CC LB and see 27mph at 72 mph on flat ground and no wind. Towing 12k lb i get 16-18 mpg at 60 mph. All stock except for a K&N filter. Crazy thing is, and yes i have a video, at 50 mph i have seen 31+ mpg with brand new tires and perfect conditions.
Only issues I have had were mostly related to just hard use of the truck which I am fixing still. I did have have a ccv filter that needs replaced with an updated part or you can do a batch can reroute. And the vacuum pump was leaking oil like crazy the seal was bad and they are known for the bolts being loose. Both are easy to do and had I not had a fractured finger I would have done the vacuum seal myself. I'll have a video up on the ccv filter at some point
@@joshuademarco5116 The 2015-16 is the preferred year to purchase for that body style. It's been flawless so far. I did have a 2011 F250 6.2 gas. I like the 6.7 way better! Tons of power and way better mileage.
I’m debating on a F350 dually and getting out of my 5.9 Cummins. I tow often, running my skidsteer & typical homestead stuff. Dodge builds a poor quality truck, but they run great & I get killer fuel mileage.
So I had a stick brake caliper when I towed my 13k 5th wheel and I got about 9.2 mpg in my f250. I can say without a doubt you will love the 6.7 performance wise it just walks over older trucks. Granted older trucks can be molded to be competitive with the newer ones from a towing standpoint. I just started doing some tuning reviews of my 6.7 that you may really like I have the first one out and hoping for a Wednesday release on my next one, and some custom tunes to help bring mpgs up a little more. Although I was able to get 20.3 mpgs driving on like a 120 mile highway trip no load obviously
Yikes those mpg’s are horrible. I’ve got an 06’ 5.9 24 valve. No mods other than a shit ton I. Brakes. I often drive from Cali to Iowa & Minnesota and get a steady 24-27 mpgs and that’s with a slip tank. When I tow my 4,400 dump trailer with a load in it. I’m getting 15-18mpgs.
Hey jared do you know when the second gen started? My tag on the inside of my door says 12/14 but it clearly has all the 15+ updates. Just curious if you knew when during 2014 that they started the gen 2. Thanks.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt you have a 15 that has all the updates. From the turbo, injectors, hpfp. So you have nothing to worry about. There were no early 2015s that had anything different
Ohhh ok. Just wanted to make sure you knew. In the 6.0 days that wasn't the case. They had half year updates, and some weird ones that had old and new parts. When I get a chance I'm gonna try to see if ford has a consistent start time for making the next year vehicles
I Just bought a 2011 6.7, with 56k miles. Should I be worried about valves dropping? Or glow plugs breaking off? Or any other issue? I have it under an extended Premium warranty with Ford. - thanks!
No you shouldn't live in fear. It was much more prone in that year yes, but there are lots of 2011s worth suoer high mileage on them. Plus it is getting to the point that the ones that had an issue have had it by now. I am sure there are some out there still but generally speaking a large portion of then have already been addressed
Thanks for the reply, I just don’t want to be able to make the truck last as long as possible. What do you know about the cp4 pump? Also I plan on doing an egr delete, dpf, 5 inch exhaust, s&b air intake. What tuner do you recommend? Thanks again
The 2014s were pretty squared away. They went to a steel bearing in the turbo which cut down on failures. They still happen at a higher rate than 2015s but that can all be retro fit on if you want it down the road.
there is not a kit to do that like they have on the duramax. the 2 options we have is to replace with a dcr pump which I think is the best choice, or to add a DPK from spe or S&S fuel.
6.4 was Fords first break from International and it was a total fail..... I had an 06 F-250 6.0 that I fully Bullet proofed. I now have a 2015 F-350 6.7
I have a 2015 F250 Lariat with 287,245 miles. Have had no problems. Oil changes on time, fuel filters every third oil change. And buy fuel at high volume stations.
Looking to buy a 6.7 pretty soon and I’m stuck between a 13 with 109,000 and a 15 with 130,000. My buddy has a dealership and those are the two 6.7 he has. What would be the benefits of going with the 15?
So the main upgrades for 15s were better injectors, higher flowing cp4( no change in reliability) cylinder head redesign, glow plugs I believe we're upgraded for the 13 model year, probably the biggest upgrade from 13 was the gt37 turbo is far more reliable on the 15
That said the cp4 and the turbo can both be retro fit onto the older engine so depends on if you want or need it. Cp4 is direct bolt up turbo is a little more involved
What would you consider high mileage for a 15? I'm looking at one with 230,000 and they're asking 28,000 I'm definitely not trying to pay that much for a truck with that many miles even tho I do know diesels last longer still it scares me spending that much on a high mileage truck

There are some 11s and 12s that are excellent trucks but 13s and up to he safe. 15 and up is my preference
I've got a 2011 with 200,000 miles and no problems knock on wood it is also custom tuned
The 2017 thru 2019 w/ the 6 speed is the best by far. All pre Covid built.
I have heard more than a few people say the 18-19 are truly some of the best years
I only keep a truck for 3 years my 16 seemed to go in regen mode every 2nd tank full of diesel my 2019 burns cleaner oly regens around 1500 hundred miles @six0bros
@phillipgarrow2297 I know on my 16 and my 15 my Regens happen probably less than 500 miles. Now towing it typically wouldn't regen because it runs hotter towing.

That's awesome man. In that time what has worn out, but regardless killer miles. I have heard of many of the 6.7 going well over 300k
My 2016 is factory rated at 440 horsepower and 860 lbs of torque. Put a mini Maxx tuner on it last year. HUGE difference just with TOW mode.
Doesn't take much of a tune to make these things monsters

I have never driven the 17s but I have heard the added power is noticeable over the 15/16s. you have a great truck and are taking care of it well!
Man that is awesome!
the 6.7 will def be a huge difference, sometimes you barely notice the things your pullin lol
The 6.7 is amazing at how it pulls, and the extra gear in the transmission is great. I'm still a huge fan of the 6.0 and when the right mods are done they are absolutely amazing at pulling. That said I've never pulled the weights he is so I can't comment on that much
I'm so in love with my 2019! So much potential in these beauty's, I'll never go back to a Denali!
That's awesome to hear. Love a converted GMC owner over to Ford lol. Anything done to your Ford or stock?

GMC beds are aluminum and plastic now...
While stuff could happen at your mileage you should be pretty good. Sounds like a great truck nice low mileage and nice package too
I am in the same boat as you Wilbur.
I really hope on newer 6.7 the heater isn't an issue

I have a 2013 king ranch f350, I’ve upgraded to the Garett 37, new style fuel pump, shaved heads, lifters, cam, studded, ex Lynk tune, delete egr. Total $13,500 Canadian dollars, truck hauls great plus great fuel mileage.
I was going for a newer yet but after doing all that I am 1000% happy with the upgrade, I recommend if you have a older year do the upgrade save some cash.
Sounds like an awesome build man. What came did you put in?
2015 & 2016 have a issue with cold side pipe blowing off while under load. Most have happened while towing. I have 16 lariat and changed mine with a absolute performance one for 275 bucks.
I changed mine out. All of them have the issue but the 15 and up have it worse because of the larger turbo and increased fueling
The part has been revised with a "non-permanent" clamp, similar to a typical cac clamp
The plastic tubes just blow it does happen. However there is an easy fix to it.
Awesome man glad you liked it. I have heard a little about the bearing issue. You're gonna love your 14
2011 Lariat that I bought new.
That's nice mileage. How heavy is your camper? I think the 6.7 is one of the best engines out there
GVWR is 13,639 lbs.
I miss my built 6.0 powerstroke, but once I fix the stuff on my 6.7 I will love it too!

I'm general the statements made in the video are accurate however they do not represent every truck from each year there are plenty of 11s out there with a ton of miles on then
2011 and 210,000 with no problems, BUT IM CONCERNED…
Why are you concerned is it about the fuel system?

I went from a 2011 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax to a 2019 Tundra (because we bought a smaller camper and didn’t need an HD). Now we want a bigger camper so I just traded the Tundra for a 2015 F-350 King Ranch with the Power Stroke. It’s definitely quieter than my old Duramax and feels a little more powerful. So far I think the Duramax was a little better on the MPG though, but I haven’t put enough miles on the Ford to say for sure yet.
Both are great diesel engines for sure. The poweratroke makes more power for sure. My biggest criticism is really I feel mine had frequent regens, but it was also not taken care if prior to me so that may have had something to do with it
Any update? I’m torn between a duramax and powerstroke. I need a 2014 or newer
@@six0bros they both get similar MPG’s too ?
@s.cservices2850 in my experience they are very similar to one another. Here is a video comparing it to a very modified 6.0 powerstroke. Towing. Safest to get diesels do you mean places to get fuel?
Ford is more expensive lmao
I think it fluctuates but typically in the used market my experience has been Chevy typically was more expensive last I looked
best 6.7 is Gen 3! (17-19)
I was lucky for a 2019 to land in my hands while waiting for my custom 2022.
Both are great trucks man.
I'm hopeful to buy another 6.7 in a year or so, but I'm in the same boat. I want it to be reasonable and right now that'd not a thing for trucks
I lied... 318,xxx miles. Fat fingers!
I am planning on buying a 2012 350 6.7, are any of these good? i am wondering if theres more pros or cons in these trucks
I love my 6.7 powerstroke, deleted and tuned at 137k going strong
All years of them deleted are pretty amazing. What year?
@@six0bros Its a 2015 F250, I also owned a 2000 7.3 excursion and a 2005 6.0 excursion. The 6.7 is good in the f250 but I miss my excursions

Yeah the 11s were definitely prone to that. I believe it was a issue with the material used and was taken care of relatively early on
I have the 2016 F250. The funny thing is it has a motor meant for a 450/550
thats different. how did it get that and are there any major differences to know about?
I just bought the 2019 this year, it’s an awesome truck.
I want to take one of the newer trucks for a spin sometime to check then out
6.0 Bros where are you located? State?
@@jerrypolete5258 in Pennsylvania. I was thinking about trying to maybe get a meet together, or inviting people to show their trucks on the channel. So stay tuned may be something I do in the future
I have a 11 287,00 on it no issue with anything you said.
Local dealer with a 2011 with 277,000 miles. Kinda 50/50 on it. Runs great, looks all original.
J Smith make sure turbo has been replaced it will be on its last leg if not
2016 KR dually. Love it!
I want to get a dually one day so badly
@@six0brosdon’t go with one of the best engines ever made? Hm kinda funny
Best is a stretch but after I made the joke notice the next thing I say is both are excellent engines.
Trucks today have all gotten insanely good
Great video / good useful info. Hope to get a used 2017-2019 soon. Until I hear more about the 10 speed, will stick with the 6 speed transmission.
That 10 speed has me interested though lol.
It’s awesome! Have a 2020 Platinum, just rolled 15k miles with lots of towing and off road use at my deer lease. I had a 2018 350 before this truck so I can tell a difference for sure.
I would like to do a 350 dually build once I finish the black 250
The 6.4 definitely has a bit of s cult following. Did his quick disconnect hoses break?
6.0 Bros yeah the 6.7 disconnect hoses were a pain. That 6.4L gets so much hate though that I sometimes question if we just got lucky or something.
No problem man glad it helped
Damn I would have had lawyer give that bill to Murphy.
Holy jeez....
Ugh I am going through this right now. 2014
That stinks man sorry!
2011 f350 4x4 6.7 powerstroke 4 dr dually... I love it...my girl lets me drive it
Man I will be getting a dually at some point. I think an f450 would be a great tow build series
I’m seriously considering buying a 15 and my biggest fear is metal going into the engine and the engine blowing up that’s all I keep thinking about
while it does happen in these newer trucks it is the fords are not quite as prone to it. since they have a factory lift pump to supply fuel to the cp4. some say the newer pump in the 15s and newer are more reliable, however there is nothing to actually prove that to be true. they simply flow a little more fuel.
@@jbird1173 what is the disaster prevention kit?? I might need one.
The 6.0 is my world, it was the shit when I was growing up and it is the shit to me now. I hope to one day own a 6.7 but until then I love my 6 leaker
I love the 6.0 and 6.7 but I sold the 6.7 and kept the 6.0
I had a 7.3, 6.0 and now a 6.7, this is the best way to put it. The 6.7 is like the power of a 6.0 with 7.3 reliablity.
Thanks for the informative video. Any issues with 2009 powerstroke? I found a good deal on a low mileage F550 dually.
the 2009 6.4 powerstroke is a very strong engine however there are some issues with them that they are not the most reliable. they have an above average rate of cracking piston. they have slightly less rate of blowing head gaskets over the 6.0 powerstroke, oil cooler is the same as a 6.0. overall they are ok trucks, but they do scare me a little bit. I would like to one day do a build on a 6.4 powerstroke but I would be looking at upgrading the pistons to fix the in my opinion worst issue they have.
@@six0bros Thanks for the heads up. How about 2012 & 2013 F550. Just discovered the 2009 is F350 rather than F550. So, I’m steering away from 350.
I would go for the 2013. Had better bearings in the turbo updated glowplugs. 2013 in my opinion was the first year they really had it together. The 12s are not bad either but the 13 is slightly better
All the plusses are good But------having to wait at least 6 months for a new Ford 6.7 engine for my 2016 F-350 is kinda discouraging.
What happened to your engine? That seems like a very long time. Is there anyone else building them you could get them from?

Also, it’s my first diesel. Any tips and tricks?
Best advice I can give is follow all fluid change intervals with filters. Use diesel from high use stations so you're getting good fresh diesel. I am a big advocate for monitoring these trucks I can send you a link to devices I recommend.

I really like my 2016 F350 for towing. Would like to delete but you know regulations. Still only have 34k on her.
I wish I could too. I get very frustrated about them messing with diesels instead of regulating things that matter. Great tow vehicle though
I was always told it was a faulty crankshaft design that caused the valve and spun bearing issues

I hope nothing is wrong with it with only 20 K on it.
I know he's referring to diesel engines in pickup trucks when he says this is this is the first diesel Ford has built themselves, I just want to say that they built their own diesel tractor engines for 52 years before they built their first 6.7.
Yes it is a specific to their pickup trucks. I will say not that I ever looked into but I didn't know ford had made diesel engines in tractors before
I really want a 15-16 but all i can afford at the moment is the 13-14 models.
6.0 Bros okay thanks!
Anytime. Let me know if you have any more questions

Great information, what do you think about 2015 f250 platinum with 167000 miles, you think that's a lot of miles? There asking $38,000 . Thanks

My 2011 been good to this old boy:)
I have seen a lot of 2011s have some really high mileage. I didn't mean to say that they are all bad. Just have a higher failure rate compared to other years. Still a great truck. Ford set the bar really high with these things
Just bought one n this made me question my purchase…
Sorry man don't mean to make you question it. Like I said there are a lot of 11s that are amazing
I just brought a 2011....
pickin it up on Monday, my FIRST EVER truck!
They want mortgage payments, for the new ones.
It is crazy, and the cost of used ones has even gone through the roof right now.
2015+ SRW and 2017+ DRW trucks are all I'd look at to buy.
The new trucks look out of this world!

Don't they use a different high pressure system too? I wasn't sure if they can the cp4 or not

15 and up the trucks are really stout. I. 13 I believe is when the turbo bearings went to steel and become more reliable but it was still to small. The plastic oil pan is at least an easy fix but kind of annoying. That said I'll replace the oil pan on my 2016 too even though it's metal

Thanks man for the support. 26 mpg I'd insane
Have you had any problems with the 2015 6.7? I'm looking into buying one
I have a deleted 17 , it’s a great running truck
Love the look of a 17!
Maybe I missed it but, how’s the 2014?
2014's are pretty squared away. The bearings in the turbo are better and you have the most up to date glow plugs by then. all in all you're good man.
@@six0bros Great info. Thanks. Buying my first 2014 F250 soon.
@@SportRiding nice man congrats!
Just got 2021 I wonder if it will be the best year
Sorry I'm late. I love the changes they made in 2020. They are great trucks no doubt
A dealer here in Texas has a 2017 f350 with 307k they are asking 25k. What should I offer them realistically?
If it’s a base model 12k- 15, king ranch 17k- 21, platinum 23k-25
@ it was an XLT. I think it sold for 21k. They were asking way too much.
Hey jared do you know when the second gen started? My tag on the inside of my door says 12/14 but it clearly has all the 15+ updates. Just curious if you knew when during 2014 that they started the gen 2. Thanks.
I had to do a little research but it appears the 15 model year started late Feb early March.
That is also what I have found but wasn’t for sure. If you find out let me know I’ve looked all over the internet.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt you have a 15 that has all the updates. From the turbo, injectors, hpfp. So you have nothing to worry about. There were no early 2015s that had anything different
@@six0bros yes sir I know it has it all. I was just wondering when that actually started. Thanks for your help! Have a nice day.
I’m looking at a 2014 f250 with 240000 mile and I was wondering is this a good truck to buy does it have to. Any miles on it thanks
The 2014s were pretty squared away. They went to a steel bearing in the turbo which cut down on failures. They still happen at a higher rate than 2015s but that can all be retro fit on if you want it down the road.
So these 6.7s don't have near the issues as the dmaxs with their cp4 catastrophe?
Correct. Do not get me wrong they still fail. Just since Ford has a factory lift pump to them it isn't nearly as frequent.
Best why to improve a 6.7 is replace the CP-4 with a CP-3 fuel pump
there is not a kit to do that like they have on the duramax. the 2 options we have is to replace with a dcr pump which I think is the best choice, or to add a DPK from spe or S&S fuel.
6.4 was Fords first break from International and it was a total fail..... I had an 06 F-250 6.0 that I fully Bullet proofed. I now have a 2015 F-350 6.7
The 6.4 was still a international engine. In fact it is literally the same block as a 6.0
6.4’s were amazing deleted. So much power
Especially for their time that was what really was impressive
I have a 2015 F250 Lariat with 287,245 miles. Have had no problems. Oil changes on time, fuel filters every third oil change. And buy fuel at high volume stations.
All great ideas to keep these trucks running right
Looking to buy a 6.7 pretty soon and I’m stuck between a 13 with 109,000 and a 15 with 130,000.
@@six0bros thanks man. I’ll keep that in mind!
No problem any more questions let me know
What would you consider high mileage for a 15? I'm looking at one with 230,000 and they're asking 28,000 I'm definitely not trying to pay that much for a truck with that many miles even tho I do know diesels last longer still it scares me spending that much on a high mileage truck
2016 hands down
2016 is a great year. Honestly though from 15-19 they are very very similar. Air I take change in 17 but overall it's the same
2014 6.7 lariat 4x4 174k miles
Nice man.
we have a 14 and 15. love them both..15 much stronger on tune 5
The 15 have a bigger turbo and more fuel from the cp4 makes up that feeling. Both are definitely excellent trucks though
actually fords first diesel was the ford 7.8 i6 and 6.6 i6 diesels
I'll have to look into them. Thanks for the info
No thats not true
Ford built tractor diesels long before those Brazilian cummins
Any links to info? I just haven't heard of these. Maybe the ford's first diesel in the super duty
@@six0bros yes first pickup motor
Ford has made loads of diesels
@@bearsendproductions1843 no I’m talking about their Brazilian motors
2015 Rocks
Amen to that that's the one I have
i like the 15 and newer ones but I would buy a 13 or newer. preference is a 15 or newer though
