Do you prefer the 1190R or the 1290R for pure off road?

Jennifer Eldred the 1290 r has too much power for offroad, the 1190r is lighter than the 12 so it's better

he's riding the 1090R now :o Most people who ride all the bikes say the smallest bike, the 1090R, is best for the rough stuff.

Great tips and absolutely love Chris' vids his riding tips. However, I have a 1290 SA-R and it's an awfully tall & heavy bike for most to try and mount with the kickstand up. I am 6'6" and 235 lbs and tried this in my garage and it's much harder than it looks. He's done it a kizillion times, has very strong legs and core and is much more flexible than most. You can see his flexibility in the way that he so effortlessly swings his leg over the bike. Not sure how tall he is, but am certain I'm taller and I can't even get my leg over the bike that easily. When mounting with kickstand up, all it takes is for your leg to not so gracefully make it over the seat for a drop to occur. Just my 2 cents.

Seriously? I am 6ft and have zero problems with that. Had 2 GS Adventures (seat always in high position, so it's 89cm seatheight) before my 1290 SAS, never had any issues getting on the bike without using the sidestand. If you can't get your leg over your seat, you're not fit enough to ride offroad. End of story.

If you have to tell someone how to get on a bike they probably shouldn't be riding a 1000cc motorcycle.
