  • We talk about the four stages of cheerleading partner stunts in attempts to help provide an analysis tool to find our errors and fix our mistakes. You can't fix what you can't see. So enjoy my partner stunt analysis tool that I've derived from weight lilting to help my fellow coaches and beginner stunters.
Have you just seen Netflix cheer and curious on how athletes from Navarro and Trinity Valley hold people up? Project Stunt is all about showing new comers how to get into partner stunt (one base, one flyer stunting). Today in Project Stunt we talk about the four phases of partner stunt, so you can better spot weakness you need to work on.

When weightlifters jerk they are aiming to drive the weight straight into that elbows locked position to avoid having the lift being judged as a "press out", meaning a missed lift
When I came to cheerleading the most valuable piece of advice I got was give the skill enough power to have the flyer hit their weightless point at 3/4ths extension then press out the last quarter. Immediately my skills became more stable because I could control the lock out

Yes! I found it difficult transitioning to the press out style as needed when I went to cheer the day after weightlifting.
There is also another technique I use which is to slightly throw it higher than needed, catch high and settle and recover like you would in weight lifting.
I'm actually going to do a video on the two techniques! So thanks for sharing that!

Please do a video on some intermediate skills such as one arm libs and cupies

Definitely going to make a video on them! Going through each progression before we get there so there are no gaps in the progression! Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! These are really valuable, especially now when there is so little coed content on youtube :)
