You are certainly right, but I would go further. I bet in a few centuries this will be recognized as the greatest show of the 20th century--the only obvious contender is Sid Vicious singing My Way in The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Swindle. And there is a depth here that SV could not match....
I find Iggy to be almost hypnotic. Something about the way he'd go from a frenzy to a sudden, intense stare. His voice has a soothing quality at times, to my ears anyway.
Bowie was never as hardcore as Iggy. The smoking and cancer got him. Lenny did drugs until nearly the end. Having to stop them brought out all sorts of issues he didn’t know were there. Iggy has been straight for decades though. Not surprised he outlived Lemmy. He was awesome though
The song, the sound of the band, the time, the scary depth to Iggys eyes . . . This is just sublime. Because rock has grown so antiseptic these days, music like this may be gone forever from the scene.
Idk...maybe take a look at Måneskin? They are a pretty young Rockband but they have a lot of experience. Did a cover/collab with Iggy of one of their songs (didn't like it too much😅) But they have a lot of cool songs...a bit different from this but good stuff that is pretty divers from rock ballad to hard Rock song😊(maybe a bit more glam rock)
Hope exists exactly there, where we think theres no more this and that. I believe this type of rock, this beautiful expression that Iggy had and has, we will still see in this world. Somewhere haha
Iggy is terrifyingly fucked-up in this video. I love how he just exclaims, "I like this music" like he's never heard it before. What an original rock and roll spectacle.
I love how this video really conveys the whole experience to those that experienced the club scene. You can almost feel the closeness and heat of the air the smell of sweat and pot the buzzed feeling and that nothing else existed out side of that room and time had no meaning.
This is September 25th 1977 at the Manchester Apollo, the first UK date of the Lust For Life tour. Hunt Sales (drums), Tony Sales (bass) - both latterly in Tin Machine with David Bowie - Scott Thurston (keyboards) - previously in the Raw Power Stooges - Stacey Heydon (guitar) - toured with Bowie in '76 on the Station to Station tour.Bowie played keyboards on the Idiot tour in March and April 1977 and the guitarist was Ricky Gardiner (who also played on the 'Low' album by Bowie). The Sales bros were also in the band on the Idiot tour.
By far the most dramatic and beautiful version of Passenger with that pounding bass and Iggy's voice that seems to want to dig into you. We seem to feel life flowing by, so sweet and bitter, and we are all passengers, going, leaving, stopping for a little while or longer...the destination, you know, is the same for everyone...
Fantastyczna wersja. Chyba najlepsza z najlepszych. Iggy, byłeś, jesteś i zawsze będziesz wielkim muzykiem i performerem. Dzięki za to cudo. Ten rozkoszny uśmiech został mu do dziś...

When David left to record "Heroes" Gardiner departed with him. Ricky was replaced by 1976 Station to Station tour guitarist Stacey Heydon (seen briefly in his afroed glory) while Scott Thurston replaced David on the keyboards.
even though iggy was before my time, i love this so much and not just the song but also that hes so off his head on smack he needs 2 people to guide him to the mic, forgets the words for a little while and goes off on a little journey in his head while singing but still gives a hell of a performance. now imagine a bieber or similar concert and weep for the death of music and creativity.
MsFrancois1980 There is real music. Do you realize the ammount of pure shit that was also out at this time, and Iggy's audience was smaaaaalllll... Stooges even smaller.
nathalie chapron I admit there are some but, not like we used to have. I'm just thinking of the music my generation had. The artists could actually sing, play instruments, & write deeply & meaningful. The majority of the upcoming generation is exposed to mainstream top 40, which I find to be truly superficial! Most of the artists can't really sing, the autotune just kills me, barely play instruments, & have someone else write for them. There is some cool music out there but, you have to search for it, whereas we were happily engulfed in it! :)
I mean, yeah he was probably on a laundry-list of drugs, but it takes some beauty and talent and soul to make a performance like this. Damn, how many of us could get that messed up and make such a great show for a live audience?
adam tarver You mean the eye candy singer from Ray Manzerek and Robby Krieger's band? Jim Morrison was a one hit wonder flower child who couldn't handle the truth. He couldn't survive three days in New York. That said, this from Wikipedia "The seeds of Pop's stage persona were sown when he saw The Doors perform in 1967 at the University of Michigan and was amazed by the stage antics and antagonism displayed by singer Jim Morrison.[7] Morrison's extreme behavior, while performing in a popular band, inspired the young Pop to push the boundaries of stage performance." Hi Marco. Seeing Iggy live beats the screen every time. I've seen Iggy about 6 times now and he was brilliant at each gig. Reading was special because it was such a great line-up.

You must have made good money working to manage supporting a heroin addiction without having to rob and steal!! I know I couldn't afford my habit even when it was just a bundle a day!
What is strange: How can this person perform this kind of show being that stoned?! THNX that David Bowie supported Iggy when he was not in the best shape. THNX for posting the video. THNX 4 the Stooges performing this song... And: You all (and IGGY): Have a nice 2014!
I remember watching this on TV back in 1976-77? This is about my all time favourite live performance EVER! Not a fan of Iggy,(have his first album by error) but this is so intense and loose at the same time. Have no issues with the performer, but this is the BEST!
Iggy is one of a few artists that will never be duplicated. Such a unique talent. It’s nothing short of a miracle that he survived his drug and alcohol addiction. Someone up above was definitely keeping an eye on him. I hope that he relaxes and enjoys every second of his senior years. Iggy = Legend. ❤
This video made me realize i could do it too. Before i saw this i thought mick jagger and jim morrison were gods. we dont do that anymore. We are not good enough. But when i saw this and see that he was with Bowie it made me realize anyone can do it with talent and a bunch of luck and a shit ton of style people are just now starting to love and recognize again.
What a great version. Agree--the organ and bass just put this one over the top. Amazing. And drugs or not, Iggy is something else! So much fun to watch, still!
I've been with them from the beginning. Music is awesome and what a great performer. But,stay away from drugs and alcohol. I'm glad i did. My friends are messed up,or dead. I'm still alive.
Mesmerizing!! Iggy at his peak, One of pops greatest songs. Oh the passenger how he rides and rides and rides! I see pinhead's in Cadillac's and I see my girl she's not coming back, I see my life drifting by and I know I am gonna die and die and die and die.
All i can say you are seeing hearing and truly absorbing a gifted talented singer songwriter incredible on stage performer with moves that would make James brown scratch his head in disbelief. I would love to be the PASSENGER if IGGY was the driver .IGGY where are we going. Arrhhh just for arhh ride ride ride .IGGY 4 EVER N his 3 STOOGES . THE BEST.
Its actually 5 chords Am F C G and the second part is played with an E chord at the end in place of G. That era punk music simple chords/power chords, it was more about making a statement. And to be fair I still hear that chord progression in todays music.
This may be the greatest piece of punk rock on RUclips.

you aint kiddin. I was just reveling in too!
Anyone got tab on that organ?...IT IS AMAZING!
It can last forever before being boring
is this version on any cd?
I find Iggy to be almost hypnotic. Something about the way he'd go from a frenzy to a sudden, intense stare. His voice has a soothing quality at times, to my ears anyway.
He was deeply influenced by jim morrison
yaall heard that last album where hes reading from the egyptian book of the dead
That’s called drugs sir
Yeah, as this guy said ☝️and relevant to both of them, they were both deeply influenced by drugs,@@zadiefluxx7140
Read 'Wonderland Avenue' by Danny Sugerman. You learn a lot about Iggy in the second half.
I was there !! time of my life....

yep, i want to thumbs down out of jelousy too.... i wasn't born. i'm happy to hear you enjoyed it
wow.. what a lucky man!..

Iggy has outlived both Bowie AND Lemmy. Just let that sink in. Viva Iggy.

You must have made good money working to manage supporting a heroin addiction without having to rob and steal!! I know I couldn't afford my habit even when it was just a bundle a day!
I saw this tour in Kansas City, some of the tracks on the live album were recorded at the K.C. show.
Myu Senior year! Love this guy...glad he's still alive!!!
Best version of this song by far!!
my favourite version :D
me too!!!!!
¡A mí también me gusta!
I've been with them from the beginning. Music is awesome and what a great performer. But,stay away from drugs and alcohol. I'm glad i did. My friends are messed up,or dead. I'm still alive.
This is the best version of this song you can find. There is another nice one from Paris 91
Around 6:50 Iggy says "and I know I'm gonna die..." That's what makes him so great. His deep understanding of the fact that he won't be here forever.
I love this guy n his music, we All know who are the PASSENGERS!😎🤘🤘🤘
what a creep what amazing performance what a trance progressive
Most amazing that of all the greats he`s still alive. On this video some 40 years ago he seemed only days away from death.
+Sabine Holthaus He's a Taurus, Baby. What do you expect?
+Jenn Edmonds Sun in Taurus with Moon in Taurus, good Lord, he's never going to stop.
+Jenn Edmonds so was sid vicious...just sayin
+Sabine Holthaus No he didn't...
He's driving around in a Rolls Royce in Miami now, supporting talented bands now.RIP David Bowie.
Essa canção é lendária!!!!!
Mesmerizing!! Iggy at his peak, One of pops greatest songs. Oh the passenger how he rides and rides and rides! I see pinhead's in Cadillac's and I see my girl she's not coming back, I see my life drifting by and I know I am gonna die and die and die and die.
This was absolutely not Pop nor has it ever been.
Unless you simply missed the apostrophe, meaning Pop's greatest songs. Laugh.
THE BEST.
Has to be one of the best bass lines in the entire universe.
Smacked-out Iggy carried onstage.. ultimate R&R classical.
HERO
This guy has guts
Its actually 5 chords Am F C G and the second part is played with an E chord at the end in place of G. That era punk music simple chords/power chords, it was more about making a statement. And to be fair I still hear that chord progression in todays music.
He's hot in this for so many reasons a human isnt meant to be. Just love how raw, messy and completely free this performance is from the outside
He Fainted before the song even started and had his stage managers check if hes okay, hes 74 years old now.
The girls went wild for him,
I think that was part of the showmanship personally
I believe his drugs did drugs before he did the drugs. Just say Yes.
yes
I agree with drugs
YES
he has exceptional DNA...the times, the scenes, the tumult, the kismet...they all infected & invaded his self...unique people are just that.
Most drugs couldn't handle too much Iggy!
The keyboards are terrific.
Iggy has the most beautiful eyes!
Yes, I'd add that he has an extraordinary good light in his eyes
