If you need to fill areas you fixed and plan to paint over, I would suggest using JB Weld as a filler. It works much better than bondo
Thanks for the upload. I'm considering doing this with my stock 19" Hyundai genesis r spec wheels since the finish has gone bad. Keep it up bro, im liking the color combo.
Very easy to follow tutorial for a beginner.. awesome 👍🏻
I liked, dont take it by the bad side, but yes, the comments that say that you should have cleaned the interior are because you should. if you are making the effort and the work, better to do it the best way, but in general, its a good work!! thanks for posting!
Awesome job brotha! Great narration. Thanks!...
This ain’t so professional😅 need to take the “professionally” off the title
Dude your rear tyre is on the wrong way lol
what is the best paint to use and how long between coats? I need to paint my wheels also
What song is playing right before you started to sand the deep gouges? (song starts to play @ 3:30 )
i like your copy paper idea. I've used the note cards before but the wind always makes things.... exciting to say the least!
hi thanks for your video but please could you tell me what's the color name ?
😂🤦🏻♂️ Look at the state of the inside of the barrel! "professional" my buttocks 😂😂😂 looked better before you butchered them
How many clear coats you give and how many minutes each coat
oil on the tire b4 painting works good too, faster for me, but nice paint job💯👍
Title should be. "Glenn from the walking dead shows you how to half ass paint some wheels"
Great job
nice! what color is that?
I like the color but needs more meat in the tire like RE71 or hankook or Dunlop direzza star spec to protect the side at least I got vht gold will do mines soon untralegerra 18x9 5x114.3 +35, you forgot to paint the back inside wheel bore
It's only professional if it is your profession. This is how to spray your wheels yourself at home in the garage using a spray can developed for this exact diy purpose😊
Nice job
maybe I'm not doing it right but I wash the back side of the wheel to get all the brake dust off then paint the back side first so the overspray that gets on the front can be sanded down then paint the front
If I had a big brain I would've done that lol
They look great but you should have showed the finished product installed on the car.
Could u tell me what color is that?
Very nice
what color, bronze?
What kind of paint is that
I wish I knew the exact gun metal looking gray they were because I want to go with that color
This is one of the better DIY tutorials on this and to the gronks asking why you didn't paint the inside...why would you, it'll only filth up again and you won't see the paint colour.
when you don't paint the inside it remains very grainy due to the overspray and it will just collect all kinds of brake dust, road debris etc.
Tibi Keresztes well if you have any pride and self-respect you'll keep the inside clean too, but if you just want to half-ass do it don't paint the inside don't even tape up the wheel just get out the rattle can and start spraying
@@popwall4297 Pride? So you take the wheels off your car everytime you go to the car wash?? fk outta here. Either way, if you are going to the lengths to paint your wheels you might as well paint the inside purely for the fact that you are retaining quality and resale value. So many half ass jobs done in the automotive scene, especially when it involves 20 year old kids who just got their license and want to "mod" their rides as quick and cheap as possible, adding to the pool of shitter cars that will eventually be worth fk all.
@@pseudocode1 I think ppl are meaning using a wheel barrel brush when you detail your rims and tires. He did spend a lot of prep to only paint the faces.
What color is that
Why did you not paint the inside?
TheDantheman300 that’s what I was thinking my self 😂😂🤷🏼♂️🤦🏻♂️
Or remove the balance weight adhesive pads and crud on the inside !
He was too lazy to clean it and prep it.
he did.......with overspray!!!
Why do you need to paint the inside ? 😆
I thought you're supposed to sand your primer wet sand before you paint
You should
Only if its rough or if you are not satisfied with the result, not an absolute necessary
You could have JB welded over that curb-rash!
The inside of your rear wheel is actually mounted on the outside
lol.
I like that color what is the color code
Not sure the paint code but it's the GM Cordova Brown
you need some wider tires for those rims
I agree
U could have filled those gouges with bondo or even JB weld or even super glue.
Killing me that he didn't do the barrel :(((
How has it held up?
Jim Bennett so far so good!
@@SleezyGarage, cool thanks. I'm thinking of doing my motorcycle wheels but there's no way I'm paying $500 to someone to powder coat them.
Playing cards around the rim does the same job saves all the hassle of cutting up paper
Yugioh cards work a lot more efficiently
@@jerrybnasty5115then you can’t get the lip of the rim if you use cards
How many cans of primer, paint and clear were used on all 4 wheels?
I used 2 cans of primer, around three cans of paint, and 3-4 cans of clear.
you should using filler to smooth the crack surface..
You didn't use any wax and grease remover before you primed it I'm just wondering
Elle Shah true
Now you know how the OEM wheels get painted by the car manufacturers!
How many times u think he said Uhhhhhh?
Bro I was getting so mad every time u said may be 3 or 4 IDK I'm not sure. 😠😠😠
Who mounted that drivers rear tire... LMAO... Shit is mounted inside to the outside lol
Zack Hunt lmao they were flipped due to camber wear so I could use the other side and get longer life out of them.
Ok some times I wonder if people notice.. but good video BTW
Struggled due to excessive information which lacked substance.
So exactly how is this “professional?” Brake dust left in place, the inside not painted, so many “uh’s” in the narrative it was hard to follow what was being said. Very “unprofessional.”
He doesn't sound confident lol like hes forced to make the video haha
Yeah why only paint the outside n not the inside thumbs down 👎🏽 on this vid sorry
aside from not putting the glazing putty on the curb rash before the primer i thought the Video was ok.. Had a decent end result..
🤣
He clearly put (D.I.Y.) and he did a good job...
Haters always going to hate. Trolls always going to troll.
i am suprised.. you went thru all that work and let the backside of the wheels dirty and not painter.. only 1/2 at most of extra time for a much better look
Did i just see the tire still on the car say “inside” ?!!!!
All nice and shit until you spill some gas on your wheels or get brake clean on them lol. Then the paint just runs off
There is a useful blog post about this process. wrxtrade.co.uk/painting-car-rims/
This product is also sold in Amazon. amzn.to/39bKfxu
Professionally?????
Haha.... with a CAN !! 😂
It is a DIY deal but FAR from professional.
The correct way is to start from bare metal .
(professional way )
Agreed. And, use either singe stage urethane or minimally 2K base coat and 2K clear coat. That said, I am about to paint another set of alloys and I will be using duplicolor, but I did put down a base of 2K epoxy primer first. I have three sets of wheels for my car and none of them see winter as the car is a summer car. I'm optimistic that this set will be fine with the limited use.
You dont need to go to bare metal what for ? Lol just sand them with 600g get edges with a red scuff pad, spray the whole thing whichever color you want and clear with 2k system lol we do wheels often at my bodyshop and i paint them and we offer lifetime warranty no need to go to bare metal at all
Sergio Hernandez we do wheels daily, minimum 100 sets a month .
Painting wheels is one thing .
Doing them professionally is another .
We coat the face, barrel and in side the wheel .
We paint , powder , hydro dip or PVD .
I Bet you don’t dismount the tires either 😂😂 .
It's well done ! But spray cans dosen't make it professionnal...
What Bout the barrel😂
That clear is not durable at all. U should have used the spraymax 2k aerosol
Next time paint the inside black first
Smfh really?!!
inside caked with Brake dust Bruh.
sadface.
I dont want to come off like a dick, but if you put "Professionally" in the title, I feel like Its an open door to criticize. Why would you use 1k clearcoat on wheels of all things...? Shouldnt even use that garbage on body panels. Use proper wheel paint, it can withstand the acidic break dust. Even DupliColour has a clear made specifically for wheels. Since you sanded down to bare metal, should be using self-etching primer. You should spray the barrel first, (again, you said professional, and a pro would paint the whole wheel, not just the face) then once its dry, tape it off and spray the face. Spraying the face first just gives you rough overspray on the barrel that will trap brake dust and dirt, accelerating the damage the dust will do since youre using terrible clear coat. Sorry for being mean, but you g2 learn sometime.
Click baited by the title. This isnt professional, its painted outside in the wind with cans, on a dirty wheel. You dont even give concise details - "couple minutes" between coats is not enough time. The finish is actually not very good at all. Primer was too thick on the first coat. The clear coat wasnt thick enough on the last coat. Thumbs down.
🤦♂️
Say professional than use a spray can and left primer inside the barrel.
Looks like the inside is filthy, not even painted, and to top it off your tires are on backwards. So many incompetent youtube DIYers making videos these days.
Euh euh euh... has a garage, paints outside.
Right? Who wouldn't want to breathe in the fumes?
Ωmega Ruhe put on a mask and make sure there is some ventilation.
Very low professional👎👎👎👎
Terrible orange peel on the engine bay clear and I wouldn't consider anything painted with rattle cans professional.
Talk quiet so i turn it up. Then fucking annoying loud ass music blows up my ears
That's not professional
mumble mumble .....car.....mumble mumble....prep...mumble mumble....paint....next time try speaking to your recording device.
