Nick Johnston Sig and Keith Merrow as well. Both really came to fame through RUclips. As a former Chapman guitars dealer AND a Schecter dealer…. I have no doubt the Schecter version is a step up for Scallon. Enjoyed your video! I’m a Type O Negative fan, AND a collector of the Schecter solo 6 design, so a baritone model in the solo6 body is enticing!
One of the high-end guitar shops near me (Denver, CO) has had the same Kenny Hicky sig in shop for some time now. I've groaned because it's WAY out of my price range but I love everything about that guitar! 🤘😄🖤💚
The pickups on the rob scallon sounds incredible. I believe he said that he wanted pickups that aren’t genre specific, and could produce a wide range of sounds. He uses 8 strings for both heavy brutal tones as well as clean ambient open tunings as seen in his song anchor
@@BaenaCarcosa yeah man. As a bedroom guitarist! Can you imagine? 😎 if you can you should get your hands on one of his signature guitars. I played a couple of them in Germany, played like butter!!
I don't remember to be honest haha, that's the thing with the unboxing vids they are all basically done on the spot without much messing around with tones. There will be dedicated vids for both guitars with proper mixes and all that so stick around for those
Question for you, if you’re tuning to double-drop D on an 8 string (DADGCFAD), what would be the ideal scale length to keep enough tension for that low D? Personally doesn’t seem like my 27” scale is sustaining the note enough. Thanks in advance , awesome demos!
You can get away with 27 and like an 80 or 85. I suggest a bit longer personally since I like light gauges. I use a Kiesel VM8, 27.5” on the 8th. Using an 80 I can do double drop D no problem.
@@mus0rmus1c3 if I have learned anything it is that every player is different. I like light gauges so I can bend with ease and purposely hit the crap out of it to make it decay drastically. All about personal preference at the ending of the day.
They've got some. The one that always had my eye is the Hellraiser C-VI, if you want something more metal, comes with EMG humbuckers stock. Then there's also the Hellcat C-VI, which is much more like a classic Fender bass VI. I think the Hellcat also has a signature variant for someone from The Cure? I don't quite remember

I you consider Keith Merrow a RUclipsr, he has a Schecter 7 string that’s pretty dope, it’s been out for a while. Anyways that’s a siiick guitar!!

I hope you're right, I ordered a Rob Scallon 8 string from Sweetwater. It's coming in next month.
The Rob Scallon is brutal for sure. Btw I love that you are so active on this channel lately
Kenny Hickey of Type O Negative. That was their color. Sustain for days.
Pantone 369 is the official shade. Peter Steele himself chose it.
Type O for life 💚
I wanted the original Kenny model but seeing that new one, I kinda dig it
the tone of that rob scallon signature is craaazy
Schecter absolutely knocking it out of the park
Those pickups that Rob helped design sound sooo organic. Wow
The Rob Scallon signature one of the few artist guitars that looks good and is useful for any genre type
as well as the Dean Lamb sig
Nice to see you finally have a les paul shape in your collection now.
That green baritone sounds incredible! Both sound pretty good actually
Just ordered that sick ass green tie-dye Carcosa tee, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have one 🤘
YOU ARE THE BEST
Oh that green guitar is BEAUTIFUL!

🤘😄🖤💚
I love love love Type O Negative. I was so stoked to see the singlecut version of Kenny's signature come out.
I have always loved your setup since my favorite color is green, and you give me so much inspiration for new gear!
c-8 sounds killer. Thanks for the meshuggah samples :)
Both guitars are hella dope, both in their respective dopeness.
The second guitar reminds me of a classic sports car
They both sound incredible

Both guitars sound killer! 🔥
Love the sustainiac pickups too
I love both of these man
Both of those guitars are 🔥.
Definitely listen to Type O Negative! Kenny Hickey is an absolute riff master!
if you haven't yet, check out Denis Pauna and his acoustic covers of Type O. Wolf Moon is insanely beautiful in his hands.
@@Quusikko Oh nice man, I will definitely do that!
The rob scallon model is a freaking angel and demon built into one. I want one so bad.
As soon as the 8 comes out...we Meshuggah. 🤘🤘
Dude I was just listening to The Air That I Breathe for the first time in years today before this video!
Type O is goated dude 🤙🏻
How about Keith Merrow? He had signature guitars with Schecter right?
I honestly didn’t know he started out on RUclips until today haha! You learn something new every day
@@BaenaCarcosa yeah man. As a bedroom guitarist! Can you imagine? 😎 if you can you should get your hands on one of his signature guitars. I played a couple of them in Germany, played like butter!!
Holy shit those tones and guitars! What amp did you use for these demos?
I like the 7 string version of the Scallon sig.
The left handed version is on my wishlist.
Also worth mentioning, the Kenny Schecters are the only guitars I’ve seen that have a Sustainiac without a trem (my preference)
Bruh imagine being able to bust out DTADS as a fucking demo/test riff
I see that bright green one and think
Within the ruins riff evolution when lmao
That sustainiac with an ebow and a slide might replicate some theremin-like tones.
Gnarly fucking tones!
Can’t wait to hear some drop g dad rock from that greem machine
8:48 sounds like dancers to a discordant system
It is :)
Helllll yeah impromptu messhuggah cover
Type O Negative R.I.P Peter Steele
Current band Kenny plays in is Silvertomb formerly known as Seventh Void
You can send Rob's sig my way. Thank you.
Also.. 6:12 waaaoow
I bet the sustain pickup would be great for dissonant ambiance
the stank face is great in this vid lmaooo
FAAAAAAAAAACCCK! that baritone though!
Kenny Hickey is a legend and I want that guitar. Listen to Type O Negative and A Pale Horse Named Death.
Silvertomb used to be seventh void
before type o got sustaniacs in their guitars and basses, they would have 200w monitors in front of them to control their feedback by moving around
POG face when i didnt know you didnt know who Kenny Hickey was!!
youll love Type O!! October Rust is such a classic in its own right
One box, everyone knows the rules
I really want the 8-string.
God I want one of those Rob Scallon signatures in such a bad way
Kenny played for type o negative they would tune to B standard on songs like Christian woman for example unsure what other tunings they used
I'd love to get the green baritone! Personally I'd put it in Drop A#/A it looks siiiick!
They both sound filthy man, What do you use for the tones in general? Did you switch tones for either of them?
I don't remember to be honest haha, that's the thing with the unboxing vids they are all basically done on the spot without much messing around with tones. There will be dedicated vids for both guitars with proper mixes and all that so stick around for those

I’d say higher gauge based on my multi scale Ibby. I use a 90 in E

daaaamnn the new kennnyyy siggg sick as fuck
we need a type o cover plsss
purple sweater, subbed
Awesome.
I believe keith Merrow was the 1st you tuber to get a sig with Schecter
Was that the air I breathe by all that remains at first
Yep!
Keith Merrow had a shecter deal to. I believe first.
let's go
That low 27" 8th string has to be floppy af in Drop E, no? I have .80 on mine and its pretty floppy...
Andrew gonna give that green guitar a hickey
Oh man, type o negative.. hope you're ready.
nice
ultimate stoner metal guitar?
im reporting from Baritone Obsessed and I can confirm..... not a bari lol ;)
Imagine… only sustaniac pickups…
and dont worry..... Chapman guitars blow dogs for quarters :D
Daddy djent
great guitars but tone too muddy eek
Unfortunately, I'd agree with 26.5 not being worthy of excitement. I'll get excited when Schecter makes a six-string 30 inch scale baritone.
I'm pretty sure they do already

Considering most LP single cut styles are 24.75, 26.5 is a huge improvement on drop tuning tension and stability.
I think as a guitar community we should stop purchasing $1000 guitars that don’t come with a hard case. This is the worst and really needs to stop.
come on bruh, Keith Merrow is the father of all youtuber guitar players don't disrespect the man like that :(
Unfamiliar with type o negative? Really?
