This is why I love working at a music store. You get to jam out with people that are basically brethren to you (especially kids). At one point last year there was a little boy who stuck out. He was around 12. Every single day after school he drove his bike down to the store and just looked around. My boss thought he was suspicious and was bothered by his presence. I on the other hand let him roam. He was so pulled in by the Ibanez sr505 in the back at the bass section. I Told him he could play anything he wanted. He just said “I don’t really play”. I asked him his name and he said Christian. But I just call him Chris. I could tell he wasn’t very fond of money. One night I walked up to greet him. I asked “ya like that bass”. He said it would be his dream to have one. I asked him what music he liked. He said all he had were old metallica, korn, and slipknot cd’s. I told him to keep them make sure they stay in hood condition. I was just trying to do the average music store employee small talk. And I saw a grin hit his face for probably the first time. I was clocking out at the back to go home (just me him and 2 other workers in the store). I heard the amp fire up and heard the bass going. I knew it was him. He was very good for someone who had played one other time. I couldn’t help but shed a tear after I closed up shop that night. And last Christmas me and my buddy (another worker) saved our money and bought him that Ibanez. We showed up to his house Christmas Day and he knew who it was for. He just broke down in tears of happiness. Every now and then he’ll come down to the store and play. Just the other day he was rocking some Gojira. He was talking about joining/starting a band and I told him to go for it. Christian. You’ll know who you are. If you’re watching this video and see this comment I want you to know how much of an inspiration you are to the whole store and everyone that works there

You hit the nail on the head. Rob is a fucking chump. And he always will be! 0/5.
@@charleswidmore5694 yeah chump...that plays like a madman...and you are?

Like a kid in a candy store
And he finds his signature candy
Dolphinboi but this kid doesn’t like to buy candy from the candy store
@@flipperbooch2194 He steals the candy just like every kid! xD
And he used to go there all the time to eat candy and never buy anything.
And he finds the chocolate with Golden Ticket. :v
Rock candy, no?
At the end where he was playing for that second and putting that note on the backplate of the guitar felt so wholesome. This video is wholesome. Also at the end I almost cried because the riff of for that second is so emotional.
So I played this exact guitar today, and two things
1) Holy shit great guitar
2) Still in FCFACGCE

That guitar stays in tune. Noice
I call bullshit
It always amazes me how crazy beautiful the fact is that music connects people together. No matter everything...
"Yeah hi, I've heard you are selling a Rob Scallon signature guitar?"
"Yeah we have it here... wait a second.."
like what do you need to know to get to this level? o-o
Empathy, my friend. Relate. All is love.
I bet elmo is jealous

@@ToCatchAVein wise man.
Be good at guitar and get a popular youtube channel. Seems to be about it from what I see.
The shy guitar nerd was so adorable. I love people who get into their hobbies.
"My hometown guitar store, now probably has my signature guitar"
I've no idea why this is in my feed, but *mashes like*
This video was so dang wholesome. It made my day, Thanks Rob
This is the guitar center I went to all throughout high school. I've been there more than any other music store. I know the guy at 2:07. It's kinda surreal that Rob also went there
Same, I’m freaking out. I would never imagine that he would go to the store I go to. And also I know almost all those employees.
It’s awesome. I live in Schaumburg and I go there all the time, seeing him walk inside I freaked the hell out.
Lmao yall should meet
When Rob put it back up on the wall, I was thinking, who there was going to buy THAT guitar? I soon found out who got it. lol

There's something really incredible about this video, I think. You had a dream, and you made it work...and then this is coming back full circle to where it started and really getting to live it. How rare must that be in this world?
Really incredible to see!
Pretty inspiring stuff.
7:18 I like how I'm watching a bunch of fans and employees greet you and jam out and having a fun time then OMG MARY SPENDER WHAT
Salvador R. Salcido do you know the song they played?
Man that kid at 5:38 didn't play much but what he did play gave me mad chills. It was really smooth.
What a genuinely cool and humble man!!
That little note inside the guitar was AWESOME! I don't know WHY but it brought tears to my eyes just thinking of the gratitude felt by Rob and the way that finding that surprise would touch a fans heart. Damn! I put off watching this for a few days because I didn't think it would be much, what a mistake!
Rob, if you do happen to see this (which I doubt, coming in so late) I want you to know that you are truly respected and I think you should get around to more stores and leave more hidden surprises, you can touch peoples hearts in a way beyond what your music and good nature already does.
Wow!
Man-crush for you right now!
Hi Miles, not too familiar with guitars, but how likely is it that someone would unscrew that plate and discover the letter?
Rob, I’ve been watching your videos for a long long time, when you first made rain to be exact. And I personally thought it would be the world to have your signature 6 string, so I begged and begged for the guitar all year, and I finally got it for Christmas 2018 and I’ve had it for about 4 months now and it’s my favorite guitar. I’ve even learned rain on your signature! Having this guitar and how nice it plays, even it being your signature guitar is such an honor! Keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to see your channel still in action in the future.

He looks ready to fight Scott Pilgrim over Ramona.
I love his hair so much, if I wasn’t an adult that had adult responsibilities like having a job that doesn’t want colored hair I’d totally get that hair.
Mark Howard Ganzon yo I know him XD
HE is probably ramona😂😂
Man did I relate to Rob saying he sat in the guitar store for hours just touching the guitars, never buying anything. Also, it was really nice seeing all the young guitar player kids that were so excited to meet Rob, imagine walking randomly into a guitar store and someone you're a huge fan of is just in there goofing off, super cool.
"Not on camera!" That's the right answer! :D
Absolutely the wrong answer. He passed up on a life time opportunity to to play Robs guitar for Rob. Wouldn’t have mattered if he sucked Rob would have given him a lesson.
chapman guitars should make a Mary Spenser's signature guitar, it would be nice to see how a fingerpicking guitarist would design a guitar
Unfortunately Mary is a Vigier artist
@@michaelsmith2017 i think for her,it's fortunately^^
What guitar was she playing in this video?
@@7kaemon it's a Chapman guitar but I don't know the model I remember Rob Chapman the owner of Chapman guitars demoed a semi-holo body guitar with p90 but I'm not sure if it's the same model
Looked like an organized meet and greet but it was just a great nice guy greeting his fans! Awesome, love from Italy!
Stronzo!
Fourth time ive watched this video where the worker joins in. When he says "you're you" because hes shaking, i begin to sob. This dudes dreams are being made real. The worker is so so talented and as a musician myself i know hes looked up to Rob all his life. Man i cant stop crying. the notes and chords are just so beautiful
i would lose my GODDAMM mind if i were to walk in and NOT ONLY was someone playing "rain," but it effing ROB SCALLON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, Jane Doe. I see you are also a man of culture.
Who
rob: picks up signature guitar at guitar center
rob: also proceeds to pose with fans, have a mini concert, and play with random people
Me: stop looking at the guitar I was thinking of learning to play on and shamefully put it back😂
This is my home town guitar center as well, right next to the elk grove. Had no idea my biggest inspiration was so close to home. Love you Rob!
Chris Krontiris I live in EG/Schaumburg pretty sure I’ve been to this one also
@@ig_hashiholic I grew up in Hanover Park and was usually in Schaumburg
This is so cool . That guy at 5:41 has great sound too
Yeah he did
“I’m in the key of E.” It’s obvious I should study music theory because I have no idea what that means lol
You’re basically playing E major or any scale that consists of E.
It means that the guitar is tuned to E standard. Which is the way most guitar are tuned
@@Large_Duck  I dont think that's it bud, try again.
You can be in any tuning and play the Key of E
Loved the jam with your fan at 5:35!!! His playing was so pretty 😍
Robs "Awww man you done?!" really shows how much he loves his fans and just playing string
losing dog lmaooooo glad to see a fan 😂 my vocals are so bad in that video but I still had fun and won a poster so no regrets 😁 I’ve improved a lot since then but I’m still not the best
I smiled soooo hard throughout this vid. So very happy for you Rob! As Elvis' Mum used to say when she was pleased and proud of him "My Boy, My Boy, My Boy..." 😎😍😀
I wish most celebrities, or just people in general were as nice to their fans/people like Rob is. You can tell people were nervous talking to him, and he was very nice about it

Hugging his fans like they are family members . They get so shocked and humbled by this .🤣🌟🌟🐈
Ending was the best the way rob was running killed me 😂😂😂
Mike Nowlan almost as funny as Marlon Webb’s running lol
I already considered this dude to be the best Music RUclipsr out there, and this video reinforces me feelings about it, seems pretty genuine in a lot o stuff here. I imagine it would be pretty cool to be buying strings and all of the sudden getting into a little jam with the guy.
You'll never meet your heroes if you order off of amazon
I saw a jazz/classical player using it at a casino
Where was the casino? Atlantic City?
I love how humble you are man. Also how chill you are with fans, and learn new things from them! That’s awesome!!
That ending made me cry and I don’t cry very often, I think last time was when popped a B string and it hit me in the mouth! God bless ya Scallon, a letter away from my favorite cream cheese!
All the moments spent at guitar store are unforgetable. It’s like the dreamland for a guitar player. Thank you for revive me that memory! 👍👍
Probably one of my favorite vids of yours. So heartwarming and funny. Thanks for the great start to my day and for the inspiration.
I love how humble you are with your fans Rob. That goes a long ways with people. I met 3 followers of my channel out fishing the same day and it was one of the most humbling experiences I've ever had. I was so grateful for their views and I really hope they realized that. To know that I've brightened someone's day just by a simple video that I didn't expect anyone to watch is priceless.
