Great Job. The white cap is to facilitate the installation when the body is on the engine. By using the white cap the bolt will keep aligned. Once you get tight you can twist and remove the cap and finish the torque.
Very good. Whilst watching this video it suddenly dawned on me that my problem may well be that I had not re-connected the big connector to the throttle control. Sure enough upon taking the inlet manifold off again today, I could see that I had omitted to connect that cable! 🥴
I have the same problem and the same error code and changing my throttle body didn’t help, same fault again, do you have any other suggestions to look at
Did you use a genuine Mini throttle body? I had issues with non OEM parts causing codes to pop up. Did you move the throttle body plate any at all before installing it? The PCM exercises the throttle plate fully open then fully closed before starting to ensure it will work properly. If it is moved even a little, it can throw the calibration off.
My mini (2010 r56 s) sometimes is unresponsive to the throttle, sometimes doesn't rev over 2000 rpm and sometimes drives 100 percent fine! The incidents are more frequent and if I pull over and turn the car off I occasionally need a jump to get it started again, other times it starts fine. Could this be the throttle body?
I took it to the dealer and they tried to convince me it was a blown headgasket. But I just don't believe that (they lied about other little things that I picked up on) that made me not trust them.
It could possibly be the throttle body. Mine set a code. When you put the key fob in and get ready to start it, the computer fully opens and fully closes the throttle body to check it's range and make sure it's not sticking. Mine failed this test occasionally. Replacing the throttle body cleared it up. If you decide to do it yourself, make sure you DO NOT move the throttle blade at all or the calibration will be messed up. Also, get a genuine Mini throttle body. They are a little more expensive, but worth it. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
@@miniadventure8714 the saga: I took it to the mini dealer locally. They said it was the headgasket and a craked block. Refused to let me see the codes. Quoted me over 5.5k in repairs. I ripped it apart these past few days because I saw no signs of a blown head. Turns out the auxiliary water pump for the turbo was cracked and leaking, over heating the turbo, causing seals to fail and it was burning my oil. My engine began over heating (no warning lights at all) so it was limping. Hopefully this is where the problems stop. I took it to this dealer because I wanted answers. I didn't get them and i don't know who to trust now. I am learning A LOT about minis.
@@breannamacaluso4836 There is definitely a lot to learn with these cars. Never could figure out why BMW used a Peugeot engine instead of just building one of their own. Very fun cars to drive. Too bad we lost ours in Hurricane Harvey....
I appreciate you're trying to help, but the throttle body can be replaced without removing the intake manifold. Just remove the intake hose and the noisemaker and you can unbolt the body and replace it.
Replaced and cleared the ECU. the ECU runs the throttle body full open then full close everytime it is started to check calibration. that is why you don't mess with the throttle plate when you put a new one in.
I bought a Bluetooth adapter off of eBay and got the Torque Pro app on Google play store. I got the paid version. You can add a high pressure fuel gauge on the app to monitor the high pressure fuel pump pressure.
ok thanks But what I want is to calibrate the accelerator. When a change has been made in accordance with the 2007 Mini Cooper s with an unstable low gear. I want to know if that app torque pro allows you to recalibrate body acceleration.
No, it doesn't. When I changed my throttle body out, I didn't have to do that. From what I've read, as long as you don't move the throttle plate before installing, the computer runs it through a full open/ full close cycle each time you start the car. This "calibrates" it. Is yours a auto or manual transmission?

I did do a video on the BMW DIS program. I got the program and cable on eBay. It is an emulation program of the actual BMW program used at the dealership. It might be able to give you the data you need. Do you have a code reader that shows codes specifically for BMW's? That could help narrow it down.
Not sure there is a way to test the throttle body. The computer cycles the throttle body from fully closed to fully open the back to fully closed before starting the engine to to ensure it opens and closes correctly. If it's showing a throttle body code, then it will have to be replaced. Be sure when you replace it, DO NOT move the throttle plate by hand! When you hook everything up and start it the first time, it goes through it's calibration. If you move it, it will mess up the calibration.
Hi Rudy. I can't do a video because I lost the car in Hurricane Harvey. Just follow video 1 up to removing the throttle body. It is located under the intake manifold.
The code set here is for a fault with voltage between the DME and intake cam sensor or valve tronic sensor or a fault in the DME itself needing replaced.Since this issue occurred after you rebuilt the engine make sure all sensors are connected properly and that no wiring is found to be damaged in any way needing repaired or replaced. If a fault is found it will need to be repaired to correct this here.I have seen the cam sensor itself cause this code and issue most commonly needing replaced. all this electronic crap and they still have the same fuel consumption as cars over 20 years old , my 1967 mini cooper has twin SU carbs , more economical than the new mini and the cabs are near 50 years old no problems

I really enjoy all your videos, they're so detailed and very helpful 👍
Glad you like them!
Have been watching your R56 videos and they are great! Thank you for posting these - huge help.
Excellent. Is it a bit easier to replace the TPS?
You should make more videos!!!! Great tutorials…!!!!!!!!!! Comeback!👌🏾💎♦️😎
I wish I could, but we lost the car to flooding during Hurricane Harvey
Hate to hear that! But I’m sure you’re servicing something. Whatever you all drive now, make videos on that until you find another Mini!🎉

Not exactly sure what you are asking....are you saying that your code reader is reading a different code than the one in the video?
@@miniadventure8714 yes sir
Is it a throttle body related code?
Is this possible to do the service without taking out the entire intake manifold? I went into limp mode today and got the p1638 code.
Yes, it can be done. I took mine off so I could show it a little better.

Oh man,, hope you recovered from all that🙏
Hi, is there any way to test the throttle body? Just to make sure it is bad?. Great video...Thanks.
AlvaSpeed. Mine was throwing a code, as shown in the video. That's a pretty sure sign it's the throttle body.
I just had my TB replaced and so far so good....Thanks for your reply.
