I hate to say this but I feel like I should warn you that you super will be disappointed 😭 for so many reasons. There's a reason they literally did not make part 2 of the two part final movie. It's because the third book, the second movie, and the first part of the third movie were SO BAD. They actively lost so much money on the first part of the third movie because no one went to see it because everyone knew it would be awful and oh boy was it. So they just scrapped it before finishing it. Can you even imagine a big young adult series doing that? Yet they did. And the worst part? Nobody really seemed to care... That's how bad it was.

They’re certainly not honest either, hence the propaganda. The most popular video on this movie criticizes it for shaming homeless people because Triss says nobody wants to be factionless, towards the beginning of the film. Media illiteracy is real lol. 1/
I like the second movie as well. Haven’t seen the third. So I would definitely watch a reaction to Insurgent. I assume Four is so aggressive BECAUSE he’s divergent and defensive of his past. So he goes on the offense. Part of why he quickly dismisses talk about their previous factions. And is very intent on finding out if there’s another divergent like him. Funny commentary and reaction. 😂👍 2/
I hate it because it's utter nonsense. Just a mishmash of plotholes, stupid names, terrible writing, horrendously developed characters you don't care about, and things that don't make any sense, all wrapped up in a series that is just a cheap combination rip-off of Harry Potter and Hunger Games that the author wrote over a single spring break home from college. I could literally go on for hours (and I have...I had to write a paper for a short story composition class where we picked a book or book series we hated or were disappointed by and wrote about our problems with it, and I went on for 7 pages single spaced and got a 100 lol), but my biggest problem besides the just god awful character writing is the fact that we don't even understand why divergents are hated. In order to 'answer the question,' they just throw buzzwords at you like "the faction system brings order" and "Divergents don't conform" and "nonconformity breeds chaos" but they never once even attempt to explain why the faction system is important and why people not conforming is a bad thing. Like, what is their evidence??? Give an actual explanation that isn't more tiptoed around and sidestepped than an adult's answer to their 6 year old asking where babies come from. At least give an example of how like "divergents were ignored and accepted but then they ruined everything blah blah blah" but no they just...hate them...because...they want to? Like at least give us SOMETHING, even if it's ridiculous. But we were given NOTHING. Additionally, they take "the test" to tell them where they "belong" because they hate people who don't conform and fit into more than one faction, but they are then allowed to...choose a faction different from the one they belong in? Thereby not conforming and basically screaming to the world that they belong in at least more than one faction? The one the test confirmed they belong in and the one they "know themselves well enough to know they belong in?" Absolutely none of it makes any sense. It was just a nonsensical cash grab ripped off from wildly better series, and I gotta give it to Veronica Roth, she made out like a bandit. Which I hate because she's on the whole untalented but I gotta give credit where credit is due. I kinda lived in a fantasy land where I didn't acknowledge the many issues with the story, but after I forced myself to think about three things, it QUICKLY all fell apart and I literally could not stop finding things wrong with the series after that. Those three things (from very mild to moderate to severe) are: 1) Four clearly says that there is only one time to change your name and it is when you first make the jump and land in Dauntless headquarters. Soooo how is his name Four if it's based on the fact that he has four fears and he wouldn't have known that until towards the end of training when he entered his FULL fear landscape (instead of just individual fears) and known he had four total. 2) You never actually find out people's problem with Divergents...to answer the question, they just throw buzzwords at you like "the faction system brings order" and "Divergents don't conform" but they never once even attempt to explain why the faction system is so important and why people not conforming is a bad thing. Thereby not conforming and basically screaming to the world that they belong in at least more than one faction? The one the test confirmed they belong in and the one they "know themselves well enough to know" they belong in? It doesn't make any sense. 3) The character writing is so terrible, and in Tris' case, it's INTENTIONALLY terrible. The whole character is designed to be bland and unrelatable, because she "belongs everywhere" and has "all character traits," but all that does is make someone a boring character you can't relate to. Humans are designed to relate to each other's flaws, so if she's "great at everything" then what are supposed to relate to? What are we supposed to like about her? What is supposed to be interesting about her? I didn't realize until halfway through the second book that I just straight up had no feelings bad or good towards her, because her whole personality is having all personalities. Look at Harry Potter. He's complex and deeply flawed. He's smart but not book smart. He's courageous but also always scared and constantly harboring a tremendous amount of PTSD. He's loyal but definitely has his fair share of spats with his friends. You KNOW him and his strengths and weaknesses. Same thing with Katniss. She's so loving and protective of her family, but REALLY rough around the edges and doesn't allow others to get close to her. She's a total BAB but refuses to really believe it because good god she doesn't want to be. She doesn't want to be the face of a rebellion or a hero or a role model. She just wants to take care of her family and live her life. You relate to them and feel everything they feel and understand their motivations and drawbacks. But you just never really KNOW Tris, and you DEFINITELY never understand her. Not enough to relate to her on a level as intensely as Harry or Katniss. She's supposed to be a 100% divergent, meaning she is equally all five factions, but she's constantly getting roid rage when she's supposed to be "100% peaceful," she tells her fair share of lies even though she supposed to be "100% honest," she kills her fair share of hoes without regard for their lives even though she's supposed to be "100% selfless." Either her character makes no sense and is terribly written, or the entire concept of the book and Divergents makes no sense and is terribly written, and either is unforgivable (and imo it's both). Same thing with the villains of these series. You understand Voldemort to a degree. He's power hungry, ashamed of the half of him that is Muggle because of his hatred for his father and hates all Muggles as a result, wildly egotistical and convinced that he is better than everyone to the point that he views death as a shameful human weakness that he is above and is petrified of death as a result, and in turn is petrified of Harry because he was prophesied to be his undoing. You understand Snow too. Also power hungry, brutal and sociopathic but in a not-altogether unreasonable way, meaning he explains his reasons for doing the things he's done and even though it's horrifying it makes sense and it's logical if that's the path he wants to walk. He understands how governing unhappy people works and the intricacies involved, and even though he'll go to great lengths to achieve his goals, even killing children, he's never wasteful and always has a purpose. Theeeeeeen you have Jeanine, whose whole personality is...hating divergents? And we don't even understand exactly why she hates divergents? This series is just a big dumpster fire. I never thought this creative writing assignment from my high school short story composition class would ever be beneficial, but hey here we are 😂 we had to write two papers, one going into detail about a book or book series we love and what we love about it and one going into detail about one we were very disappointed by and our problems with it.
