How Many Sprays Of Fragrance Should One Apply? I am here to make the argument that men should spray LESS. What are your thoughts on the topic? Are you team over sprayer or a proud sissy sprayer?
Our Brand : atriumfragrance.com/collections/all
I am very careful about the number of sprays - I usually do 40 sprays every 2 hours. Any more and I risk being arrested for attempted murder.
Sissy sprayer
@@usoolofstrength How dare you Sir.
😂😂😂
😂😂
bro could get arrested for chemical warfare
In the hot summer i usually spray 30 sprays of Dior Sauvage Elixir, then i love using public transport and seeing how everyone admires my scent.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bro's a maniac
Yep that finger means: you’re number one!
Holy 🤣🤣🤣
@@datacipherI'm sure he would be getting lots of no.1 signs 😅😅😅😅
Also, the number of sprays you use really depends on the desired effect you want. Before I got really into fragrance, I was a 3 spray guy. I almost never got compliments from anyone. As I got more into fragrance, I started pushing the envelope. I went to 5, then to 7, then to 10 in some cases. Once I went up in sprays, EUREKA!, more compliments.
I would say this. Know what fragrance you are wearing and what you are trying to do. I am a nurse in a hospital, which isn't the best place to cake yourself in fragrance, especially dark resinous fragrances. So I use inoffensive blue fragrances. My go-to is usually YSL Y EDP. I spray 6 sprays and my female coworkers follow me around like puppy dogs. But I don't drown the room in my aroma. If you are married and want to smell good for your wife, you are probably going to be in close proximity to her alot, so maybe 3 sprays is all you need. On a date, maybe you wanna push that to 5-6 to make yourself inviting without being overpowering. If you are a single guy in a crowd and you wanna stand out, don't be afraid to pump that baby 10-12 times as long as it isn't one of the more powerful fragrances.
In short, you have to experiment and realize what works for whatever you want to accomplish. There is a happy medium between Omar and Curlyfragrance. But don't be afraid to push that envelope and find out what works best for you. Happy spraying everyone!
Bro nobody follow you stop lying to yourself
No offense but people shouldn’t smell you long after you e left and the room should not smell like your colognes. Way too much. 2-3 of good cologne is enough!
@@istillbetalkin to each their own. But i have done enough of my own case studies to realize that you will get more positive reaction from other people, especially female attention, if you spray more than 3 sprays of most fragrances. It is what it is.
10-12 sprays is crazy, dude. If you’re trying to come off as attractive or sophisticated because of your scent you will literally do the opposite. You’ll come off as the guy who only just discovered fragrance and doesn’t know what he’s doing. In my experience girls find it a bit desperate and cringe.
Of course there are are some who may love it but I think on the whole this is the case.
@SilentSzZ I'm just telling you if you want compliments and you aren't getting them now, it's because you are spraying far too little and people can't smell you
I don’t really care for hard rules on how many sprays. It simply varies based on the fragrance strength, the time of year, the environment you’ll be in, etc. Some notes simply need more help than others. I agree that you shouldn’t swim in the stuff but I can see situations where applying more than what’s suggested in this video is valid.
YES! I'm on your side of this Omar. I personaly hate it when people don't know how to tone down their amount of sprays. Men and overspraying is just a stupid ego thing in my opinion. I never wear more than 6 sprays and most of my perfumes only 3-5 and even then I smell it at the end of the day with most of my perfumes. Yes, all of my perfumes have a good to excelent longevity. Projection I don't care about, but I always spray one in the neck for a nice scent trail.
n0t En0UGh!!!
@@thefragrancevol753 🤣To me it is. 🤘
5 is alot imo
@@BA-cz4is Depends on the perfume and season. That's why I wrote 3-5. Most of my perfumes are fougère, barbershop, (normal) woody or cirtus. Those aren't the heavy ones, at least not the ones I own. A perfume like Fougère Royal I spray a max of 3 because it is actualy on of my more heavy perfumes. Platinum Égoïste is a light perfume and even with 5 sprays nobody will be offended by the ammount I wear.
12 sprays of spicebomb personally
Anywhere between 20 to 35 is acceptable 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Especially for Red Tobacco
Don’t hold back, You might as well, spray the whole bottle.
Just break it on your head and make that juice flow
😂😂😂 you must be very rich.
Thank you! Every time I see CurlyFragrance overspray and she says that's the way she gets the most compliments I think "Of course a guy will compliment it if a pretty woman is doing it" it's an obvious non creepy compliment even if you don't like the fragrance, meanwhile as a guy you will be "that guy"
“That guy” loll
Yep and of course overspray gets you more compliments - but for every one compliment 9 others are either laughing at you and/or repulsed by you. These dullards think: wow 3 people complemented me! Blissfully unaware of the other 27 who thought you were a clown.
As someone whose mom is allergic to perfume I 100% agree with you
She has difficulty breathing whenever someone with too much perfume walks by or stands near her
I never wear more than 1-2 sprays whenever I will be seeing her or even none at all when I'm just visiting
5 to 12 sprays is generally my sweet spot..unless it's a beastly fragrance, then 3 sprays is good enough
I want to be more subtle than loud FOR SURE. I am definitely a 2-4 spray guy. Less is more for me. Also depending on the fragrance. Great video
For me, depending on the fragrance, most between 4-5. When I spray four, front and back of neck and each wrist. Five. Back of neck, left front and right front of neck, each wrist. Some I only do three, like Sauvage Elixir, Ombre Leather and Layton.
That sounds like very good advice. A colleague recently told me: Don't announce yourself with your fragrance; rather be discovered. I wonder if he was hinting that I spray too much? But as they say: Less is more.
I normally do 4 in the winter and 6-8 in the summer cuz my cologne seems to be more lite and citrus based. I'm slightly nose blind so I don't go crazy with the sprays.
Yeah I like how winter scents you can smell them all day
I noticed covid has reduced my nose’s ability to smell accurately and fully (i last had covid over a year ago). So i very very easily go nose blind
@@MoreTrenMoreMen69same here. Got covid 2 years ago and my sense of smell is still lacking. I just have to trust that 4-6 sprays will be enough without choking people
Depends on the fragrance, the atomiser. I am anywhere between 4 and 8. I try to spray a reasonable amount of time before i head out the door too. Some openings can be a little OTT.
I have been overspraying my whole life. Not stopping now.
Agreed bro , you buy this stuff to get noticed. I don’t do low key , when it comes to spraying. 10 at least.
Facts
Not me, I don't like spraying too much just enough to get noticed is fine for me. I don't particularly believe that fragrances need to be beast mode and fill the entire room by over spraying. Saves a nice chunk of change as well not to do so. Don't want to suffocate anyone with my frag which can come off as obnoxious. Only frags I might overspray are those that are really weak sauce like YSL la nuit de l'homme. I try not to pick up too many of those frags though unless I really like the scent because I feel I am not getting the best bang for my buck with these weaker scents. My favorite are the effervescent type scents/concentrations that come and go. That's the sweet spot for me. Like you will occasionally get a big hit of it in the breeze, but its not so overpowering where its radiating off your skin and pushing constantly.
@@victoredwards3959 Spraying at least 10 times no matter what fragrance you're using is just dumb. If you're wearing d&g the one, sure spray the hell out of it at like 15 sprays because it's weak and doesn't project much. If you're wearing rasasi hawas and spray it 10 times you're going to completely suffocate people. No more than 5 sprays with long lasting frags that have good projection.
There are so many factors on how much to spray and where you apply. I don’t spray on clothes such as coats as they don’t get washed after each wear, the fragrances then clash. I will spray on a shirt which I only wear once before washing. I am guilty of over spraying for sure. I just love fragrance and want others to enjoy it too. Maybe I need to cut back on the sprays.
I just got Versace pour homme today, I needed this thx
For me with a really weak fragrance like Nautica Voyage I like to go around 100 sprays every hour or so but something really strong like the Spongebob fragrance I like to go 20ish sprays. Something in between like Ombre Nomade I like to go around 50 sprays just to make sure I am not wearing too much as 50 sprays is quite a small amount.
Some of my coworkers overspray and my other coworkers talk about them when they’re not there. It’s like it has become their identity. “That’s Tony, the perfume guy.”
Honestly, I think it has more to do with how attractive one is. Complimenting fragrance is just an excuse to express either their love or hatred of you. It doesn't make an ugly person magically hot nor a hot person ugly.
This is why two people can have different mileage on the same fragrance.
I have a friend who constantly asks what I'm wearing and then goes out and buys it - but he never gets compliments. Meanwhile I always receive compliments.
The bitter truth is I'm a model while my friend is not. And so most of my compliments are from women who just want an excuse to express interest in me without seeming creepy. And complimenting one's fragrance is a great way of doing that.
You also need to consider how long your fragrance will last. I have colognes with strong openings but beautiful drydowns.
Nb
Women also run colder. Not sure about the chemistry behind this but I imagine that contributed to how much they spray
Another thing to keep in mind is that atomizers are not created equal. I estimate that my Omanluxury Angham kicks out about 60 uL of beautifully atomized material per squirt - demure little sprays - while my Nicolaï New York Intense dispenses about twice that much. Aaron Terence Hughes’ 10 mL bottles also have demure little sprays similar to the Omanluxury, but his 50 mL bottles dispense tons of material, probably more than 200 uL per spray.
I tend to spray more than most people. I'm not a sissy sprayer . I do get more compliments now and more people seem to appreciate that I'm a man who smells good. I only spray my neck if I'm not going on a date because it tastes gross. But I do acknowledge that some fragrances are too strong and some environments are too small for too many sprays. I don't care about making everyone happy, even with a few sprays of a great fragrance people will complain because they're just negative people. Thanks for the video.
It depends on your fragrance how strong it is and your body chemistry. Nothing is really linear. My goal is to get in the sweet spot of just catching a slight whiff and not full power like Jeremy.😂 I joke around about 20 sprays of Red Tobacco in summer heat. With respect for the health and well being for all living things no one should do it. Also, doing that here in the US could potentially cause another mass shooting.
I usually do go blazzing with my sprays😂...
All depends of the fragrance,if it’s beast mode, I spray 2,one on my chest and one on my T-shirt, and nothing on my jacket I wear cause we’re heading into winter here. If the fragrance is not loud for example Aventus, I spray 6
Too many variables to have a set number of sprays. Some days I'm in an extrovert mood and overspray and others maybe I am feeling a bit reserved and underspray. Then you got to factor weather, performance, setting, fragrance type, and on and on.
Thank you for making this video. You made a lot of great points. A lot of men need to hear it that’s a mistake a lot of them make. Less is more. Just be yourself.
I agree with the spray points you chose. One should not choose wrists because there are higher chances of the fragrance getting rubbed off.
I spray usually between 6 and 12 times, depending on all the factors you listed 😊
I'm anywhere from 4 to 12 sprays, depends on the fragrance, and scenario where I will be using it. sometimes I will re-apply 5 hours later, again depends on the longevity of the bottle being used. woody, smoky, tobacco, and rose scents last much longer than freshies, and light woods.
Are u guys being sarcastic?
@@istillbetalkin nope, being truthful. If you spray 3x of mostly any designer frag then you'll most likely be the only one smelling it.
@@alejandroxan u think you’re the only one. I used to think so too until I was told someone knew my scent because I always wore the same thing. I was only spraying 3 or 4 sprays and couldn’t even smell it on myself most days.
Wrist is the worst spot , it gets rubbed off on my thighs, my table, the couch, my hoodie if i put one on etc etc.. usually always apply behind ears an sides of neck and on the back of my neck too if im not gonna be laying down or kickin back
It all depends on the scent you use but i think more is better than less obviously there are still boundaries to how much you should spray
there was a point in time, in the very beginning of my fragrance journey, that i would apply 6 sprays of aqva atlantique. 4 on myself and 2 on my clothes. that would end up projecting throughout half the office at work. that, along with some other trials and error with other fragrances made me quickly realize the importance of not overspraying. if i'm wearing atlantique today, i would probably fo 2-3 sprays max.
Overspraying is better for social settings though. No better feeling of spraying something 10+ times and getting compliments
For strong fragrances, three sprays are enough. One spray on both sides of my neck, and a spray in the chest area. I typically do five sprays, though
Sauvage elixir- beast fragrance and great atomizer = 2x sprays
Allure eau extreme = 4-5 sprays
Any Calvin Klein = 1/2 bottle every 3 hours
That was funny
Sauvage elixir 4 sprays
So many factors -- even the atomizer makes a difference. Err on the lighter side. Add more sprays if you need them. Something like Clive Christian Blonde Amber or Aaron Terance Hughes Hard Candy 50ml only need two full sprays because of the strength of the scent and the distribution of those atomizers. Whereas something like Tommy Bahamas St. Bart can be sprayed a dozen times safely.
The only 2 I overspray is nautica voyage and man eau fraiche
Totally dependent on fragrance and circumstance. Being outdoors or indoors , duration without re-applying etc etc
I spray what I want depending on how strong it is
overspray montblanc starwalker
This 👏🏻👏🏻
I spray so many times I might as well just drink it too😂
5-6 for me on skin, both sides on the neck, back of the neck,2 on My inner arms and sometimes on the front,on clothes 2 on the chest or collar
I disagree. I tried different perfumes and 2 sprays never worked on my skin. I like to feel my own perfume. For Red Tobacco I use 5-6 sprays for example. and in lower performance perfumes, like Allure I use about 10 or 12.
Agree on wanting to feel and smell your own perfume. What's the point of buying and applying if you don't want to smell it?
W. Agreed
It really depends on where you live, here you need 10 sprays every two hours on average…
Couldn't agree less
I'm glad you showed Jeremy Fragrance. He tells you in one video to do 5 sprays and no more. Then he tells you in another to do 10.
CurlyFragrance will call you a sissy sprayer if you don't over spray.
I'm a proponent of subtlety. I only want people to be able to smell me when they're close, and even then I only want them to get a hint of the scent. If I'm having a conversation with someone I don't want the thing at the front of their mind being "Oh, this guys wearing a lot of cologne."
Too much of anything isn't good, It doesn't matter how great the fragrance is that you're wearing, if you put too much on then nobody cares about how good the scent is and you're just the annoying person in the room.
Exactly 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I onced sprayed 3x of versace eros to my neck and it filled medium-sized room lmao
I sprayed it on my neck twice when I wore it for the first time. I ended up being "that guy." Lesson learned.
Aquatic’s you can do extra sprays with basically lite summer scents but woody leather or sweet spicy scents that’s meant for the fall winter do not do more than 5 sprays just imagine somebody doing extra sprays with A*Man Eros or a leather scent or one of those Oud scents in warm weather you’ll choke people out some fragrances when over applied sometimes stink it leaves a bad taste in your mouth but overall I never exceed 8 with a lite fragrance basically 2 on the neck 2 chest 1 on each arm 1 on each leg(w/shorts on) if I’m not wearing shorts I spray those on my shirt another option is use the matching after shave body wash or deodorant
I tend to do between 2 and 4.
No where near enough
@@hihaters2004 for me it works fine and enough for people to notice without smelling like a high school locker room 🤣🤣. Ultimately people can spray as much and as little as they want down to personal preference and the strength of the stuff . I they want to be a walking cloud of nerve gas that's their choice 🤣
2-5 for me. Anymore and I am genuinely suffocating myself. What the hell did these people do to their breathing apparatuses?
Very well done.
Take a fragrance for instance like the discontinuted Mauboussin M Generation. A fantastic scent, so sad it's gone. But I have a small sample vial. So it's not a spray. To go to a wedding on a breezy spring day (today), I do 8 dabs (a dab = what turning the vial upside leaves on your fingertip). That would be behind ears, back of neck. base of throat, and on both sides of each wrist, i.e., the "pulse" side and the outside. I find that scents work especially well for me on the outside of the wrist. I THINK 8 fingertip dabs work well with a scent like this (a not-beast scent). I am vaguely, pleasantly aware of it, and it doesn't seem obnoxiously loud. I just hope other people don't have a different idea!
This all depends on the persons skin...i always do 2 sprays regardeless of fragrance, i apply non scented moisturiser around my neck then hit it with one blast on each side.
I prefer anything between 18-32 sprays
What's the line of thinking of applying 8 sprays to 8 different spots? verses just 8 sprays in total to 2 different spots like both sides of the neck behind the ear?
Done it again, great video Omar, that’s why you the goat
It’s not about how many it’s how close or far it’s best to spray closer to skin
Why should it be more accepted when women overspray??? 🤔I disagree. I think overspraying is annoying in general😅
Al I can say on this subject , is…to each their own! Some are light , some are heavy.
I never thought I see the day when "content creators" will talk about THIS!
Really depends on the fragrance, occasion, time of year, etc.
8 sprays of Bleu de Chanel EDT in the Summer? No problem. 8 sprays of Sauvage Elixir ? Youre gonna get the fire department called 😂
I do more than 8 sprays. But its often immediately straight out the shower and at least 20-25mins before I leave the house.
4 to 12 for me depending on the concentration
im very generous with my fragrances i apply about half a spray of Versace Pour homme
I disagree on the Spicebomb Extreme in the summer. In the extreme heat (90 degrees+), it works extremely well with 1-2 sprays
Only in extreme heat tho. Don't use it on a 75-80 degree day. But in extreme heat, at night, it's like you are in a nightclub in Havana! Trust me on this!!!
It depends on who you are too, some people are more loud and in your face persona than others, I feel 4-6 sprays are the right number for me. But when I'm layering I double that. But when I'm going to the office or using oriental scents like oud, or spicy fragrances i use 4 sprays max.
I'm over here applying 14 sprays minimum
Beautiful video ! … Totaly agree with you
With strong perfumes I never use more than 6 full sprays even when going out in the winter. In the summer 3 are usually enough. For the office I use 3-6 sprays depending on the fragrance. There are some fragrances that are harder to overspray than others. I prefer a tamed 1.5 foot range of projection in the office. I know the feeling when you don't like a fragrance of a person and the person oversprayed it. It's really annoying and also very ruthless to overspray in my opinion.
How much of Sauvage EDT would you spray for the office?
@@chibiichen3
I dont see the point in spraying 2-4 sprays, nobody smells it, so might as well have 0 sprays same effect. If I have a nice fragrance I spray about 8 times so people can actually smell my fragrance and that is definitely not an overpowering amount. I think overspraying is bad, but that overspraying is like 14 sprays plus.
Great video! I had to laugh that the two you featured in the beginning are basically the culprits. Less is more.
Actually Jeremy has a fantastic sensible video on how to spray and he does no more than 7 sprays which you should check out. I think he just messes around sometimes to go viral most of the time, especially nowadays.
Surely it depends on the strength/weakness of the frag?
I usually always do 5. One each side of neck. One back of neck and I don't do wrist or elbows it gets rubbed or sweated off. I do one on the top of each arm. Same way women will spray their hair you'll be surprised how much longer your arm hair holds onto fragrnace. Doing that I still smell things like Prada Lhomme Intense 24 hrs later when I'm working extreme days between showers.
I don't understand how you guys can spray so much and not get negative reactions, ill spray like 4 or 5 times and my friends will tell me that they can taste me from across the room, and not in a good way. Or that they could smell me from upstairs, or I'll give them headaches, its pretty embarrassing when you smell to loud as it seems insecure, maybe fragrances just prohect very strongly of my skin because ove had to limit myself to 3 sprays so i dont gas people out
I needed this video man. Less about the sprays, and more about being a man.
I was feeling lost, but shit, this was so based.
I am not a woman, I am a man.

in a closed room
full summer
he knew what he was doing in top of all this
Your cousin is a very nasty person. Everyone says so.
Why did he do it?
@@pablo_fre5hcobar simply cause he liked how it smelt
I kinda wonder about pressing the ”button” if you will.
It sometimes feels like pressing it all the way down is enough to make it too strong.
Should i go for ”half sprays”?
Just one spray feels…weird.
Silly question perhaps but i have been surprised as i step indoors from the Swedish winter and melt an entire , cozy warm restaurant.
I spray twice on the same spots of the neck
My 2023 january batch of spicebomb extreme seems weaker i spray it 3-6 times an get about 6-8 hours
8 sprays. 2 on the chest and 1 on each shoulder, bicep and inner side of the elbows. Works and lasts all day, everyday.
Any on the neck?
@@darrunn Non for me.
@@unclekrconzh85 interesting, I will try this as I do feel I go nose blind to some fragrances
I am in a very hot and humid country. I did not invest all this money in my fragrances for no one, including myself even, to smell it; and then for it to fade away in less than 3 hrs.
It's all depend of the fragrance. I'm working on a factory so i don't mind overspray because there lot of space. On strong like Red Tobacco, Sauvage Elixir, Dior Homme Parfum i'll go with 3 sprays. Le male elixir, Layton i'll go with 5, then other with medium performance i'll go with 5 to 10.
3 to 5 for me. Anymore than that is usually too much
Any more than 5 in an enclosed environment is TOO MUCH.
5 should be for weak fragrances. I think 1 spray for something strong, right on the neck. Strong fragrances give off far projection, so people will smell it walking by you no matter what.
For most fragrances, 2-3 is good. Two under both ears or one on neck, and both wrists.
REMEMBER. Even if you fragrances fade fast, doesn't mean everybody in the room during first and second period won't be smelling it until it fades.
About 3 to 5 on skin (chest and neck) and then about 3 to 5 on my shirt (and THEN sometimes 2 extra, just to overspray)
@xatschoolofscent oh really? Lets pretend I believe you!!!!
Overspraying is promoted by influencers who are hired by companies, all to get more products sold...
Team overspray AAALLLLLLLLL the way!!
It’s tacky for anyone to overspray scents. It just comes off as classless and ignorant. Same as overly flashy jewelry. It just says you’re trying too hard.
Depends on the type of frags for me, for fresher fragrances I'd do 8 maximum, for stronger and heavier frags, I think 4-6 would be fine, more than that it might attack you instead (other than your surrounding), I once went for 8 sprays on halloween man x and felt nauseous whenever I picked a whiff of it (note - I live in a tropical country, I wore it at night)
I tend to spray on shirts and wrists, I know it would be weak but whenever I sprayed on my neck, some fragrances make my skin feels hot so I stopped spraying on the neck ever since, especially on the back side of the neck, wouldn't want it to harm my skin.
My friend, one spray of spice bomb and was overpower, me 3 , 4, 5 and not much aroma 😢
Should I spray twice on each pulse point or is once best?
About 30 to 35 sprays on a light day..
If someone i know is choking me out and wearing way far beyond too much...Ill still give them a compliment...but in reality , itss killing me. Ill do 1 on each shoulder and one on each wrist , thats it.
i started with 3 then slowly progress to 5-6 and slowly creeping up
2 at each side of neck, 1 behind the neck, 2 at each elbow pit or the sleeve edges, and 1 at front of the shirt if its weak
basically i want people beside and behind me to smell it, and not making my nose noseblind.
The most I would do is 8. I work in grocery stores so I’m not technically filling up the room if anything I got the aisle smelling like Macys 🤣
I only spray 1 on each side of the neck and 2 in the back of the neck.
I wear 12 sprays. 6 on my body and 6 on my shirt. It’s so hard to do less.
courteous sprayer
I loved this video man
I do a minimum of 5-6 sprays...if its somewhat weaker ill go 10+ because i hang out at bars and around smokers ect.. At work i spray every hour 5+ sprays because i dont want anyone to bother me
If you buy a fragrance you need more than 4 sprays of to be able to smell it... why buy it in the first place?
Fair enough if it was a blind buy but otherwise I don't get it.

I'd still go for the 16 sprays mark most of the time, but it's nice to have different insights to consider. thanks for sharing.
16?!!?!?
@@wendys8357 yup. was sceptical at first and thought i may be choking everyone out, but it turns out that most designer fragrances actually evolve quite nicely throughout the day with 16 sprays. just don't do 16 with stuff like Elixir versions or niche, that would be insane..
People laughing at him as we speak.
I usually spray from a distance of about 10cm cm to 17cm (4 to 7 inches)...
Great Review 👍
