This one of the best tutorials I've seen, Vigi. You are obviously very technical and your fingers have the elegance of a long-time guitar player (your pinky does a little ballet on the E to B transition); not only that, but you have good teaching skills and a straight-forward, organized method. I watched with great interest though I obviously can't play (the most shocking thing being the presence of one normal E in this song!) It was like reading a book review from such a compelling journalist that it convinces you to read the book instantly, revealing to the ignorant person exactly HOW the work is constructed which of course makes it clear WHY it's beautiful. There is more to this Frusciante character that I knew. And you are doing very important work :)
Wow here you show what an amazing songwriter you are. Just your RUclips comments themselves are a work of art. Putting your thoughts to words like this is a great skill. Thank you very much for sharing your helpful thoughts. :) And keep practicing those bar chords. :D
@@Vigi thank you. Not sure about songwriter. Words are a lot easier than songs :) Plus, as you've seen, I'm not focused like you. I try everything - at least twice! I experiment with writing here: eminawrites.blogspot.com/ (in case you're bored).
Very interesting. I loved your ideas in the post “If your body needs it”. Some things you just cannot truly figure out with the rational thinking mind.
@@EminaS it was a true pleasure reading a bit of your blog, and I'll sure continue. Your thoughts clearly show what a kind and beautiful soul you have. Cheers from Italy and keep on practicing guitar ;)
Great tutorial of one of my favorite songs of all time, man. Even thought you have a very methodical and organized type of teaching, your passion for music (and frusciante's music in particular) clearly shines through anyways. Keep on doing it. Cheers ;)
I have to fingerpick in a weird way because of how I play. Usually pluck the E and A with ring finger and pinky, then my e, B, and G with my thumb, index, and middle finger
Beautiful song, I really appreciate your lessons. I'm having difficulty barring the b string but I'll get there soon enough. Do you know what gauge Frusciante used on his Martin?
I’m glad you like it! :) Yes, you’ll get there! I’ve always assumed he just used same as his electric guitars, so 10’s. But I have no idea if it’s true. That’s what I use at least. :)
oh man, altought my english level isnt that up, i could understand you very clearly, keep on uploading this types of tutorials, it was very difficult to find johns songs lessons as good as yours, im a very grateful to have find your account . Can you teach how to play "height down" or "stress" from smile from the streets you hold??? again thank you
Thank you so much! That’s very encouraging. ☺️ It seems like the lessons are doing well so yeah I could try more, as long as I don’t get copyright issues. Right now I’m working on Slow Cheetah follow-up lesson, but maybe you only want songs from Frusciantes solo work? 🤔
@@Vigi i am a big fan of frusciante and also of the chili peppers so go ahead with all the material you want to show and teach us, i assure you it will be welcome!!! later if you have the time and you like the songs i suggested you, it would be awesome too!!
Haha cool!! Sorry for the extremely long delay. I’m really happy you still find it valuable and so cool that you found it immediately after uploading. ☺️
Great man! Going to try to learn this now. That E chord "run" is really beautiful
Thank you! :) It’ll be easy for you. 🤘Yeah I really like that one. Btw love your single “Darkness” on Spotify. 🔥
Your playing is really amazing
That’s so kind, thank you. ☺️

Matteo Bonichi thanks so much! I think we got a little side-tracked here, which wasn't my intention! Appreciate your support :)
Excellent breakdown of this song. Thank you for posting.
Nice, thanks a lot for this lesson
Thank you! 👍☺️
One of the best lessons i've ever watched, thank you so much! Basically learning fingerpicking here.
Subscribed to your channel. Love your content! 🙌🤘
Thank you! ☺️
I speak spanish but i can understand ok
U rock!
Hey Vigi ! How are you ? It's been a long time 😂 very beautiful song 😄
Hey! I’m good. What about you? :) Indeed. 😁
I love this song, thanks for the lesson vigi, gonna use it to enhance some details in my playing/version
Thank you! It’s great of you to restudy a song you’ve already learnt. I was poor at this myself in the past and still am to some extent.
"I hurt myself today..."
My Martin actually sounds better and it's a 1000 dollar martin. With a sapele body and richlite fret.
Yeah it sounded quite bad here. Poor emphasis in my fingerpicking, and I also used electric strings here xD

Thank you very much! A new Frusciante fingerpicking lesson will be up soon. :)

BOOOOY, CONGRATULATIONS, THIS LESSON WAS AMAZING.
WATCHED FROM THE BEGIN TO END AND I LOVE IT!
Wohooo! So awesome to hear! I was always so insecure about these long videos and being afraid of making people bored. :)
@@Vigi honestly, normally i get rlly rlly bored but this time was different.

It must be really tricky playing with the guitar upside down. 🤯 What about the D string?

I love the tone of this guitar. Is it the Martin 015 - the same that Frusciante plays?
I love this guitar. It’s the larger size body, the 000. ☺️
nice lesson man! beautiful playing in the beginning
Thank you very much! ☺️
