In this tutorial I want to show you how to create a procedural rock generator with Blender Geometry Nodes, including procedural texture. The rocks can be changed in size, shape and texture. Also details in the surface can be adjusted with Geometry Nodes.

There goes all my time again. I have spent the last week or so, creating mountains based on your tutorial. Just when I thought I’d get back to making music you have another tutorial to distract me. Thanks for creating these, the results are much better than other methods I have seen.
Sorry and welcome 😀
Very good tutorial, I just started with geo nodes as an absolute beginner/noob and this helped me a lot.
I have clicked away many videos with geo nodes because they were for more advanced users, and who all ask for money and you didn't so I don't feel guilty.😅
This is really well done and does a great job demystifying geometry nodes in general. It's also a two-in-one tutorial. Sehr Gut und Vielen Dank!
This is awesome! Thank you so much! You are a Legend!
I tried a few things while making this and found the Cone to be a better shape than the square to make the rock.
You can make a cube out of cone if you want, but you have more control of the size of the top, the bottom and a lot more numbers for divisions on your rock which ends giving a lot more control over its shape, while also having a flat bottom which makes it almost ideal..
cool, thanks for trying
Thanks, just what I was looking for!
Fucking awesome! No one makes better Geometry Nodes Nature scenes/models than you!!
awesome tutorial dude
Thank you very much!
Awesome 👏
Super helpful
Hey i love ur vids!! Especially the fact that you even teach us how to make the textures for the items, unlike other tutorials. Although i couldn't find the Darken Node.
thanks! what do you mean with "darken node"?
If I understand you correctly, then the "Darken" node you see in the shader with the yellow bar is a mix RGB node with the dropdown set to "Darken".
@@DamianDalleNogare Came to comments for this answer. Thank you!
Hey, great tutorial. One thing I've always wondered is what ways people know of to get rid of the indentations that appear when you use voronoi textures for displacement, if needed.
Voronoi makes my favorite rock shapes, but the divets are a real hard sell a lot of the time. The best solution I have is using a color ramp or map range to tame it. Anyone have anything better?
This reminds me of the Sascha Henrichs procedural rock tutorial for 3DsMax. You kinda sound like him too! 😁
thank you very much very good lesson, please can you create a lesson for material separately
I have ACES colorspace installed in Windows. Can that be a reason why this (rock material / sand material) looks very different in my Blender? Cycles is renderer and Color Management settings are:
Follow Scene
Display Device ACES
View sRGB
Look Nonen
Exposure 0
Gamma 1.0
No Use Curves
I don't understand why, because there are no textures (that have to changed to Utility sRGB to seen in right colors).
This tutorials are very good! Thank You and God Bless from Finland! ✝
I am having trouble with Blender crashing when I try to access material preview. I tested and it is not affected by deleting material and using a new basic one, so I think it is something in the mesh. I'm using 3.2.0. Do you have any ideas?
Not currently check this for my s3lf but - does geo nodes support boolean operations?
Great tutorials! I have an idea for a geometry node based object, but was wondering if you could assist.. how do I get in touch with you?
Hi, you could the channel contact e-mail
Great Tutorial. Unfortunately, my Blender (3.3.0 on PC) crashes every time I click on the shading tab while there's an instance of your rock in my viewport. I tried applying the Modifier and also tried to reduce the subdivision value. It still keeps on crashing. Any Ideas?
I know it's been a year but the first thing I would do is update the graphics card drivers
Do you know how make field were every stone is different? something like geometry loop or seed geonodes by location?
Hi, yes, would be interesting - let me think about that!
You could try Displace modifier after (or before) geometry nodes with coordinates set to global.
@@houston6963 Sounds good, I will try that!
Hello friend, is there a way to make it solid to export and use in another scene
Hi, it should with adding a "realize instances" at the very end. then you can apply the geometry nodes modifier like any other modifier.
@@blenderdude5050 I really liked the projects I bought almost all of them just the render that is heavy even though I have a 24 megabyte rtx 3090 eheheheh
If I add the realise instance and apply the modifiers it should improve the render
Or do you have another suggestion?
Can you help?
I think animation shouldn't go well with node so in elon musk's studio hehehehe
Thank you for everything
how do you add the material into the blender
I'm also wondering this as I have Blenderkit -- and Blenderkit normally works on most objects. When I drag my material onto the 'Rock' the material doesn't show for some reason. Note: using Blender 4.1 -- so maybe Blenderkit doesn't allow for materials to be dragged onto objects with a node system? I honestly have no clue. The part where the instructor adds the material is confounding to me.
How come my shader editor didn’t work on rock 😢
i dont see extrude mesh what should i do then ...
what blender version do you use...?
@@blenderdude5050 3.0.1
@@electroboi528 Ah - the "extrude mesh" node is new in Blender 3.1. You should install that version
@@blenderdude5050 oh ok thanks
⚠It works efficiently only with "Cycles" (Experimental) rendering engine and powerful hardware (GPU, CPU, RAM). Otherwise, the operating system becomes inoperable.
Man says nothing fancy here when showing the shader... Meanwhile! I'm sitting here staring at like Jedi Master that is actually good at teaching!!
Spend 17 min to made one Rock... Why not using free mesh Rock generator and use 2 sec.. 😬👍
Because we can :-D
godesys said it :-) feels good to create it self
